Comparison of Debris Flow Modeling Results with Empirical Formulas Applied to Russian Mountains Areas

Construction of debris flow protection structures is impossible without studying the processes first. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to calculate the magnitude of debris flows in three study areas. Initial information was prov.ded by JSC Sev.av.iprov.dkhoz and the Research Center “Geodinamika”. The first object of this research was the riv.r Ardon and its tributary the Buddon, because of disastrous consequences for Mizur v.llage of passed debris flows and floods. Modeling of unsteady water mov.ment was carried out for estimation of potential flooding. During modeling, 5 cases of flash floods and debris flows of v.rious probabilities from 0.5% to 1% percent were considered. Therefore, maximum floods for the cross-sections abov. and in the Mizur v.llage itself were obtained. The second study area was the Chat-Bash stream, which is also situated in the north of Caucasus mountains. For this stream, the maximum discharge that could impact the mining complex at Tyrnyauz was determined. The third study area was the Krasnoselskaia riv.r due to frequent floods in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Applying three cases of v.rious probabilities from 10% to 0.1%, the model determined maximum discharge and water lev.l for the last cross-section abov. confluence into the Susuya riv.r. Numerical experiments for all study areas with different roughness v.lues were conducted to identify optimal ones. Comparing the model results for all study areas with empirical formulas (Golubcov.v.v., Herheulidze I.I., Kkhann, Sribnyj and ASFS of EMERCOM of Russia) rev.aled that formulas contain only av.rage depth slope angle and empirical coefficients and do not allow estimating flood areas and maximum characteristics of the ev.nt with a certain degree of accuracy.

Ev.luation of Natural Radioactiv.ty Lev.ls for Structural Material Used in the Construction of the Neutrino Detector

In this work, the ev.luation of natural radioactiv.ty and spontaneous fission rates was performed for 8 nuclides from the natural radioactiv. 238U, 235U and 232Th decay chains. For this purpose, three samples of structural materials of the neutrino detector, i.e. aluminum, titanium and glass were analyzed by gamma spectroscopy and by neutron activ.tion analysis to quantify a specific radioactiv.ty of the samples. According to the results of this inv.stigation, glass and aluminum samples hav. maximum v.lues of the mean uranium concentrations 7.3(7) × 10-4% and 3.1(6) × 10-5%, respectiv.ly, while the lowest v.lue for mean concentration of the uranium was found in titanium samples to be 4.7(3) × 10-6%. Aluminum sample had maximum v.lues of the mean thorium concentrations, 2.5(8) × 10-3%, while the lowest v.lue for mean concentration of the thorium was found in titanium samples to be 6.2(3) × 10-7%.

On basis of aquatic and riv.rside-aquatic plants collection of O.v. fomina botanical garden is conducted research of ontogenesis, ecology, phenology, carpogenesis, biomorphology, life forms, adaptatations, of this group＇s plants, peculiarities of their cultiv.tion and application in conditions of temperate zone of Ukraine. Special v.lues in research hav. ancient genera and species, which include representativ.s ofNymphaeaceae salisb, and trapaceae Dumort. families, 22 species, 6 v.rieties, 1 hybrid, 30 cultiv.rs of which are presented in collection of garden in open and cov.red soil. For the first time in cov.red soil of two conserv.tories ecological modeling was conducted. Placement of plants is done in form of 5 models of artificial ecotopes, in 155 abatises. Four ecobiomorphological groups based on rhizome system were determined for Nymphaeaceae, among which conditionally-rhizome and conditionally-stolone are prov.ded for the first time.

The study aims at the influence of THz radiation on 129.0 GHz of atmospheric oxygen on arterial pressure (A/P) and pulse, hemodynamic parameters of orbital arteries during the irradiation of biological activ. points of application in healthy v.lunteers and in patients with inv.lutional macular degeneration (IMD). A decrease of systolic and diastolic components of arterial pressure and pulse, and a normalization of systolic v.locity of bloodstream (Cv.) and of resistance index (RI) in orbital arteries in patients with IMD are noticed. The results of the research are: 1) the method of THz influence on 129.0 GHz on molecular spectrum of radiation and absorbation of atmospheric oxygen is safe and doesn’t cause any negativ. side effects on common state in healthy v.lunteers and in patients with IMD;2) single influence of THz wav.s on 129.0 GHz on molecular spectrum of radiation and absorbation of atmospheric oxygen is caused to statistical important improv.ment in v.scular system of eyeball.

One-month immunotherapy trial in treatment-failed TB patients

reatment failed TB patients hav. v.ry limited chances of surv.v.l. Open label trial of daily oral pill of v.5 Immunitor (v.) was conducted in 48 treatment-failed TB patients on palliativ. support consisting of isoniazid (H) and rifampicin (R). The subjects had the following forms of TB;cav.tary: disseminated: MDR-TB: DR-TB: TB/HIv.at 35:13:7:4:1 ratio. After 1 month 62.5% of v.-treated patients experienced negativ. sputum smear conv.rsion (P 2 respectiv.ly (P v.rse effects or reactiv.tion of disease due to immune interv.ntion were seen at any time. v. is safe and in combination with a simple two-drug regimen was highly effectiv. as an immune adjunct to produce fav.rable outcome among treatment-failed and/ or drug-resistant TB patients.

Neutron activ.tion analysis technique of the Gd2O2S:М scintillation ceramics was dev.loped. The concentrations of 15 trace, minor and major elements (As, Ce, Co, Cr, Cs, Eu, Fe, La, Sc, Tb, Zn, Zr, Pr, Gd, Na) hav. been measured with the instrumental neutron activ.tion analysis of the Gd2O2S:Pr sample. The concentrations range of the determined elements is from 3 × 10-8 to 2.0% in mass. The determination limit of the elements was calculated to be (0.6 - 1.3 × 10-8% in mass).

Experimental Studies of Heat Transfer Characteristics and Properties of the Cross-Flow Pipe Flow Melt Lead

The process of heat transfer in a HLMC cross-flow around heat-transfer tubes is not yet thoroughly studied. Therefore, it is of great interest to carry out experimental studies for determining the heat transfer characteristics in a lead coolant cross-flow around tubes. It is also interesting to explore the v.locity and temperature fields in a HLMC flow. To achiev. this goal, experts of the NNSTU performed the work aimed at the experimental determination of the temperature and v.locity fields in high-temperature lead coolant cross-flows around a tube bundle. The experimental studies were carried out in a specially designed high-temperature liquid-metal facility. The experimental facility is a combination of two high-temperature liquid-metal setups, i.e., FT-2 with a lead coolant and FT-1 with a lead-bismuth coolant, united by an experimental site. The experimental site is a model of the steam generator of the BREST-300 reactor facility. The heat-transfer surface is an in-line tube bank of a diameter of 17 × 3.5 mm, which is made of 10H9NSMFB ferritic-martensitic steel. The temperature of the heat-transfer surface is measured with thermocouples of a diameter of 1 mm being installed in the walls of heat-transfer tubes. The v.locity and temperature fields in a high-temperature HLMC flow are measured with special sensors installed in the flow cross section between the rows of heat-transfer tubes. The characteristics of heat transfer and v.locity fields in a lead coolant flow were studied in different directions of the coolant flow: The v.rtical (“top-down” and “bottom-up”) and the horizontal ones. The studies were conducted under the following operating conditions: The temperature of lead was t = 450°C - 5000°C, the thermodynamic activ.ty of oxygen was a = 10-5 - 100, and the lead flow through the experimental site was Q = 3 - 6 m3/h, which corresponds to coolant v.locities of v.= 0.4 - 0.8 m/s.
