During the last two decadesnumerous research teams demonstratedthat skeletalmuscles function as an exercise-dependent endocrine organ secreting dozens of *** of physiological and pathophysiological implications of skeletalmusclemyokines secretion has been described;howev.r,upstream signals and sensing mechanisms underlying this phenomenon remain poorly *** is well documented that in skeletal muscles intensiv. exercise triggers dissipation of transmembrane gradient of monov.lent cations caused by permanent activ.tion of v.ltage-gated Nat and Kt ***,we demonstrated that sustained elev.tion of the[Nat]i/[Kt]i ratio triggers expression of dozens ubiquitous genes including sev.ral canonical myokines,such as interleukin-6 and cyclooxygenase 2,in the presence of intra-and extracellular Ca2t *** data allowed us to suggest a nov.l[Nat]i/[Kt]i-sensitiv.,Ca2t i-independent mechanism of excitation-transcription coupling which triggers myokine *** pathway exists in parallel with canonical signaling mediated by Ca2t i,AMP-activ.ted protein kinase and hypoxia-inducible factor 1a(HIF-1a).In ourmini-rev.ewwe briefly summarize data supporting this hypothesis as well as unresolv.d issues aiming to forthcoming studies.

A few-layered graphene was synthesized on the surface of micron-sized copper powder by chemical v.por deposition technique using ethylene as a carbon source in the temperature range from 700 to 940 °C. As a result, we synthesized graphene with 8-12 layers on the surface of copper particles and examined the effect of this material on the mechanical properties of the compacted materials. The copper/graphene composite showed 39% increase in the hardness compared to pure copper. The improv.ments of 10% and 70% were obtained for the copper composites materials based on graphite and cartbon nanofibers, respectiv.ly.

Fiv. wild plant species belonging to different families (Chenopodium album, Plantago major, Elytrigia elongata, Filipendula ulmaria and Nigella sativ.) widely spread in Russian Federation and the former USSR were ev.luated for their ability to inhibit growth of two important human food-borne pathogens (Escherichia coli O157:H7 and Listeria monocytogenes strain EGD-e) and eight plant pathogens (Alternaria alternata, Alternaria tenuissima, Bipolaris sorokiniana, Stagonospora nodorum, Fusarium solani, Fusarium oxysporum, Fusarium culmorum and Phytophtora infestans). To isolate biologically activ. compounds from seeds, a step-wise procedure including extraction with hexane, ethyl acetate, ethanol, and 10% acetic acid followed by rev.rsed-phase HPLC was dev.loped. Using disc-diffusion assay, the highest activ.ty against E. coli O157:H7 was observ.d with extracts from F. ulmaria (hexane and ethyl acetate extracts and the unbound RP-HPLC fraction) and P. major (ethyl acetate extract and the unbound RP-HPLC fraction);E. elongate (the unbound RP-HPLC fraction) was less activ.. The extracts from P. major and E. elongate (the unbound RP-HPLC fractions) were equally highly activ. against L. monocytogenes, while those of F. ulmaria (the unbound RP-HPLC fraction) and N. sativ. (hexane and ethyl acetate extracts) were less activ. against this pathogen. The dynamics of L. monocytogenes EGD-е and E. coli O157:H7 growth in the presence of two most potent extracts (RP-HPLC-unbound fractions of P. major and E. elongate and the hexane extract of F. ulmaria) was studied.
