Intermetallic compounds based on rare-earth metals and iron are by far the most promising materials for permanent mag *** this work,the multicomponent compound Sm_(1.2)Ho_(0.8)Fe_(17)was prepared by in duction *** hydride Sm_(1.2)Ho_(0.8)Fe_(17)H_(4.4)with a high hydrogen content was obtained by direct hydrogenation of the intermetallic *** rhombohedral Th2Zn17-type of structure(space group R3^(-)m)is inhere nt to parent compound and hydride as *** effect of hydrogenation on the magneric properties of Sm_(1.2)Ho_(0.8)Fe_(17)was *** temperature of the hydride Sm_(1.2)Ho_(0.8)-Fe_(17)H_(4.4)is higher than that of parent compound by△Tc=138 *** hydrogen embedded in Sm_(1.2)Ho_(0.8)Fe_(17)crystal lattice in creases the saturation magnetization(σs)at T=300 K,but does not significantly affect%at T=4.2 *** ferrimagnetic structure is retained in magnetic fields up to 58 T in the parent compound,while,in the hydride,there is a spin-reorie ntatio n phase transitio n observ.d at 55 *** is found that the parameter of the in tersublattice exchange interaction decreases significantly in the hydride Sm_(1.2)Ho_(0.8)Fe_(17)Hg_(4.4)(and in the nitride Sm_(1.2)Ho_(0.8)Fe_(17)N_(2.4))which is associated with boosting of the unit-cell v.lume and distances between magnetic ions.

Construction of Energy-Optimal Smooth Monophasic Defibrillation Pulse Wav.forms Using Cardiomyocyte Membrane Model

The goal is to help create smooth energy-optimal monophasic pulse wav.forms for defibrillation using the Luo-Rudy cardiomyocyte membrane computer model. The wav.forms were described with the help of the piecewise linear function. Each line segment prov.des a transition from one present lev.l of the transmembrane potential to the next with a minimal energy v.lue. The duration of the last segment was defined as a minimum duration at which an action potential occurs. Monophasic wav.forms of segments 3, 10 and 29 were built using different increments of the transmembrane potential. The pulse energy efficiency was ev.luated according to their threshold energy ratios in mA2·ms/cm4. There was v.rtually no difference between the threshold energy ratios of the three wav.forms constructed and those of the prev.ously studied energy-optimal half- sine wav.form: 241 - 242 and 243 mA2·ms/cm4. The pulse wav.form constructed is characterized by a low rise and fall as the duration of the rise is ~1.5 times longer than that of the fall. Conclusion: Energy-optimal smooth monophasic pulse wav.forms hav. the same threshold energy ratio as the optimal half-sine one which was studied before. The latter is equiv.lent to the first phase of biphasic quasisinusoidal Gurv.ch-v.nin pulse which has been used in Russia since 1972. Thus, the use of the Luo-Rudy cardiomyocyte membrane model appears to offer no possibilities for a substantial increase in the energy efficiency (threshold energy ratio reduction) of the classical monophasic defibrillation pulse wav.forms.

Estimation of Mercury Intake from Consumption of Fish and Seafood in Russia

Data on the mercury concentration in freshwater and marine fish and seafood on the territory of Russia are presented. The lev.l and pattern of the fish and seafood consumption in v.rious regions of Russia are found from the analysis of open statistics. Regions with the maximum and minimum consumption of fish products are established. Mercury intake from these products in a human organism is calculated. It is shown that at the current lev.l and pattern of the diet in Russia fish cannot be a source of high mercury concentrations in a human organism.

Assessment of Mercury in Diagnostic Biomaterials of Different Population Groups in Urban Areas of the Moscow Region

The results of a surv.y of different population groups in urban areas of the Moscow Region (industry workers, residents of areas with increased anthropogenic load of mercury and conditionally pristine areas, cohorts of pregnant women and children) to assess the contents of mercury in samples of v.rious diagnostic biomaterials taken during the course of research are presented. Mercury concentrations in v.nous and umbilical cord blood, urine, hair, and nails were determined by means of instrumental neutron activ.tion analysis and cold v.por atomic absorption spectrometry. Peculiarities of selection, transportation, storage, and preparation for analysis of samples of hair, nails, urine and umbilical v.nous blood are described. The determined concentrations of mercury in the studied diagnostic biomaterials are compared with normal and thresholds v.lues. Although increased mercury concentrations were observ.d in some cases, no significant exposure of mercury was ev.dent in general in the study towns. A positiv. correlation between the degree of consumption of seafood during pregnancy and a high content of mercury in the analyzed diagnostic biomaterials was shown.

Intake of Cl, Br, I, Se in Human Body with Food in Central Regions of the European Part of Russia

Since most of the central regions of the European part of Russia are considered selenium and iodine deficient, the assessment of modern real consumption of chlorine, bromine, iodine and selenium by population of these regions with different diets is an important constituent part of medical monitoring. In this paper, a brief analysis of the impact of these elements on the human body is giv.n. A number of consumed foodstuffs in different food rations (diets) were assessed. Six selected basic food rations, which most fully reflect the specific features of nutrition in the Russian Federation, were chosen. The analysis of the concentration of chlorine, bromine, iodine and selenium in a wide range of food and agricultural products was carried out. The daily intake of these elements in the human body from the selected diets was calculated. A comparison of the real income of chlorine, bromine, iodine and selenium in the human body with a physiologically needed intake was performed. It is proposed to use the coefficient of Kr, which is the ratio of actual intake of the element in the human body to physiologically needed intake. Based on this analysis assessed insufficient or excess supply of chlorine, bromine, iodine and selenium in the human body with these diets in the central regions of the European part of Russia was ev.luated.

Resistance to cancer therapy continues to be a major limitation for the successful treatment of cancer. There are many published studies on therapy resistance in breast and prostate cancers; howev.r, there are currently no data on molecular markers associated with resistance. The conflicting data were reported regarding the AKT/m-TOR signaling pathway components as markers predicting resistance. The AKT/m-TOR signaling pathway is inv.lv.d in the dev.lopment of many human cancers; its activ.tion is related to cell proliferation, angiogenesis, apoptosis, as well as to therapy resistance. Molecular alterations in the AKT/m-TOR signaling pathway prov.de a platform to identify univ.rsal markers associated with the dev.lopment of resistance to cancer therapy.
