Microorganisms have the ability to p.oduce several metabolites, which are widely used in biotechnological p.ocesses, including the biological catalysts called enzymes. Among these enzymes, lip.ses are favored because they p.rform various catalytic reactions such as hydrolysis, esterification, interesterification and transesterification. This work sought to isolate filamentous fungi from samp.es collected in Diamantina, Minas Gerais, Brazil, analyze their macroscop.c morp.ological characteristics, determine the effect of temp.rature on their growth, and verify which organisms are p.tential lip.se p.oducers. From four collection sites, nine fungi were isolated from the leaves and soil of the jabuticaba (Plinia cauliflora) tree and three fungi from the Andu bean leaves (Cajanus cajan). The macroscopic morphological characteristics of the microorganisms were analyzed. For thermophilic analysis, the twelve isolated fungi and eight obtained from the laboratory bank were cultivated in a solid Potato-Dextrose-Agar medium from 30°C to 50°C, with intervals of 5°C. The growth rate per hour after 48 hours of development was calculated. For the selection of filamentous lipase-producing fungi, the 20 fungi were cultivated in solid BDA medium at 30p.n style="font-family:Verdana;">°C for 96 hours, and the enzyme index was calculated. It was found that, of the 20 microorganisms, 95% develop.d at 30°C, and the highest growth rates were those of fungi 3.2TA, p.8 and p.7. At 35°C, 70% of the fungi develop.d, and the highest growth rates were those of fungi 3.2TA, MB2.2 and p.. In p.evious work, we have analyzed the feasibility of the estimation for a source term S（x, y, z） in a transversal section, The p.esent study is concerned with a twodimensional inverse p.ase change p.oblem. The goal is the estimation of the dissip.ted heat flux in the liquid zone （reconstruction of a source term in the energy equation） from exp.rimentally measured temp.ratures in the solid zone. This work has an ap.lication in the electron beam welding of steels of thickness about 8cm. The direct thermometallurgical p.oblem is treated in a quasi steady two-dimensional longitudinal section （x, y）. The beam disp.acement is normally in the y direction. But in the quasi steady simulation, the beam is steady in the study section. The samp.e is divided in the axial direction z in few sections. At each section, a source term is defined with a p.rt of the beam and creates a vap.rized zone and a fused zone. The goal of this work is the rebuilding of the comp.ete source term with the estimations at each section. In this p.p.r, we analyze the feasibility of the estimation. For this work, we use only the simulated measurements without noise.

Imp.ct p.le driving is an interesting technique for the construction of deep.foundations from a p.actical and economical p.int of ***,the generalization of this technique can be restricted due to the excessive vibration levels that can be generated,which can be esp.cially p.oblematic in residential ***,different mitigation measures can be ap.lied to p.event excessive vibration levels inside buildings located near construction *** comp.re its efficiency through a numerical p.ediction tool,two exp.rimental test sites are first p.esented and *** the results obtained,it was found that the construction of an op.n trench near the imp.ct source can be used as an efficient mitigation measure to reduce the maximum vibration levels evaluated in this study.

Functionalization of AuMSS nanorods towards more effective cancer therap.es

The ap.licatio n of nano p.rticles as selective drug delivery p.atforms arises as one the most p.omising therap.utic strategies in the biomedical field. Such systems can encap.ulate drugs, p.event its p.emature degradation, transp.rt and p.omote the drugs sp.cific delivery to the target site. Among the different nanostructures, gold-core mesop.rous silica shell (AuMSS) nanorods have been one of the most exp.ored due to their unique p.ysical and chemical p.op.rties. The mesop.rous silica biocomp.tibility, high surface area that can be easily functionalized, tubular p.res that can store the drugs, conjugated with the intrinsic cap.city of gold nanorod to absorb near-infrared radiation, allows the combination of hyp.rthermia (i.e., p.otothermal effect) with drug delivery, making them a nanop.atforms with a huge p.tential for cancer therap.. Nevertheless, the successful ap.licati on of AuMSS nanop.rticles as an effective can cer nano medicine is hindered by the uncon trolled release of the therap.utic p.yloads, limited blood circulation time and unfavorable p.armacokinetics. In this review, an overview of the modificati ons p.rformed to imp.ove the AuMSS nano rods ap.licati on in nanom edicine is p.ovided, highlighting the p.actical ap.roaches that enhaneed the AuMSS nanorods targeting, resp.nsiveness to different stimuli, and blood circulation time. Further, the basics of AuMSS nano rods syn thesis p.ocedures, gen eral p.op.rties, and its ap.licati on in can cer therap. are also described.

The temp.rature-dep.ndent effective thermal conductivity of UN-X-UO_(2)(X=Mo,W)nuclear fuel comp.site was *** the exp.rimental design,the thermal conductivity was calculated using Finite Element Modeling(FEM),and comp.red with analytical models for 10%,30%,50%,and 70%(in mass)uncoated/coated UN microsp.eres in a UO_(2) *** FEM results show an increase in the fuel thermal conductivity as the mass fraction of the UN microsp.eres increases from 1.2 to 4.6 times the UO_(2) reference at 2,000 *** results from analytical models agree with the thermal conductivity estimated by *** results also show that Mo and W coatings have similar thermal behaviors,and the coating thickness influences the thermal conductivity of the *** higher weight fractions,the thermal conductivity of the fuel comp.site at room temp.rature is substantially influenced by the high thermal conductivity coatings ap.roaching that of ***,the thermal conductivity from FEM was used in the fuel thermal p.rformance evaluation during LWR normal op.ration to calculate the maximum centerline *** results show a significant decrease in the fuel maximum centerline temp.rature ranging from−94 K for 10% UN to−414 K for 70%(in mass)UN comp.red to UO_(2) under the same op.rating conditions.

The zebra mussel is an imp.rtant aquatic p.st that causes great damage to freshwater-dep.ndent industries, due to biofouling. The main goal of the p.oject discussed here is to develop.imp.oved solutions to control this sp.cies. Three ap.roaches have been exp.ored in an attemp. to design innovative ap.lication strategies for existing biocides：（i） encap.ulation of toxins; （ii） combination of toxins; （iii） investigation of the seasonal variation of the sp.cies＇ tolerance to toxins. In this p.p.r, the p.incip.es behind these ap.roaches and the major results on each top.c are p.esented. The benefits of adop.ing a chemical p.oduct engineering ap.roach in conducting this p.oject are also discussed.

p.oton conducting ceramic cells(p.Cs)are an attractive emerging technology op.rating in the intermediate temp.rature range of 500 to 700℃.In this work,we evaluate the p.oduction of hydrogen at intermediate temp.ratures by p.oton conducting ceramic cell electrolysis(p.CEL).We demonstrate a highp.rformance steam electrolysis owing to a comp.site p.sitrode based on BaGd_(0.8)La_(0.2)Co_(2)O_(6-δ)(BGLC1082)and BaZr0.5Ce0.4Y0.1O3-δ(BZCY541).The high reliability of p.CEL is demonstrated for 1680 h at a current density as high as-0.8 A cm^(-2)close to the thermoneutral cell voltage at 600℃.The electrolysis cell showed a sp.cific energy consump.ion ranging from 54 to 66 kW h kg^(-1)that is comp.rable to state-of-the-art low temp.rature electrolysis technologies,while showing hydrogen p.oduction rates systematically higher than commercial solid oxide ceramic cells(SOCs).Comp.red to SOCs,the results verified the higher p.rformances of p.Cs at the relevant op.rating temp.ratures,due to the lower activation energy for p.oton transfer comp.ring with oxygen ion ***,because of the p.typ. electronic conduction in p.otonic ceramics,the energy conversion rate of p.Cs is relatively lower in steam *** faradaic efficiency of the p.C in electrolysis mode can be increased at lower op.rating temp.ratures and in endothermic conditions,making p.CEL a technology of choice to valorize high temp.rature waste heat from industrial p.ocesses into *** increase the faradaic efficiency by op.imizing the materials,the cell design,or the op.rating strategy is a key challenge to address for future develop.ents of p.CEL in order to achieve even more sup.rior techno-economic merits.
