Evaluation of Campus Town regarding Sustainable Development ...

＜正＞A college campus which has a good landscape and historical background may provide urban and cultural properties which contribute to its surrounding areas. A campus town is a new city based on a concept of sustainable development. Sharing information and consensus building are indispensable in community planning for the various groups and organizations. A new regional evaluation method "CREPA （College campus Regions Exchange Partnership Assessment）" based on an existing environmental evaluation method "CSA （Community Sustainability Assessment）" has been applied to two case study areas. As a result, （1） evaluation scores clarified the regional characteristics, and showed a direction of spatial and cultural planning. （2） Arrangement and sharing these regional characteristics enabled to propose the immediate objectives for these case study areas. In addition to these, （3） we identified that the evaluation scores had some relationship with the infrastructure indexes of these case study areas. It is necessary to explain the evaluation indexes which had strong correlation with these evaluation scores. （4） "CREPA" does not have a process of making a practical planning and executing planning. Therefore, it is suggested the Policy Delphi Method could be applied to the planning and controlling environmental symbiosis community based on the evaluation results.

诊断松萎蔫病的传统方法是从木质组织中分离松材线虫,然后用显微镜进行形态学鉴定。基于DNA分子检测的方法尽管很灵敏,不需要固定发育阶段的松材线虫,但是仍然需要用Baer-mann漏斗法分离线虫,并且需要昂贵的仪器。笔者研发了利用环介导恒温扩增法检测松材线虫的存在,该方法包括:(1)从木块中提取DNA;(2)DNA扩增;(3)通过反应溶液的颜色做出诊断。该方法仅使用培养箱且整个过程只需要90 min,比以往方法更加简便和快速。

Influence of night duty on endoscopic therapy for bile duct stones

AIM To examine the influence of night duty(ND) on endoscopic therapy for biliary duct *** The subjects consisted of 133 patients who received initial endoscopic therapy for biliary duct stones performed by eight endoscopists after they had been on(ND group, n = 34 patients) or not [day duty(DD) group, n = 99 patients]. Patient characteristics(age, gender, history of abdominal surgery, transverse diameter of the largest stone, number of stones), years of experience of the endoscopists, endoscopic procedures [sphincterotomy, papillary balloon dilation(EPBD), papillary large balloon dilation(EPLBD)], and outcomes of initial endoscopy(procedure time; rate of stone removal by the first endoscopist; proceduresuccess rate by the first endoscopist: removal of stones or endoscopic retrograde biliary drainage; rate of final stone removal; final procedure success rate; complications; hospitalization after the procedure) were compared retrospectively between the two groups. History of abdominal surgery and treatment outcomes were also compared between the groups for each of the four endoscopists who performed most of the procedures in the ND *** There were no significant differences regarding the number of treatments performed by each endoscopist or the years of experience between the ND and DD groups. The frequency of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography procedures did not differ significantly between the groups. There were also no significant differences regarding patient characteristics: age, gender, history of abdominal surgery(ND 7: Billroth II 4, R-Y 3; DD 18: double tract reconstruction 1, Billroth I 3, Billroth II 6, R-Y 7, duodenoduodenostomy for annular pancreas 1), transverse diameter of largest stone, and number of stones between the two groups. A Low-Cost Active Control Multi-Fan Turbulence Wind Tunnel with an Embedded System to Generate Natural Wind

This paper describes a new actively controlled multi-fan wind tunnel that generates natural wind as a type of turbulence wind tunnel at a reduced cost. The driving section of the wind tunnel has 100 PC cooling fans that are controlled by an original embedded system. The fluctuating velocity wind is successfully generated with a mean velocity of 7 m/s and two turbulent intensities of 2% and 3% based on Karman’s power spectrum density function. The case of 2% has the integral scales of 5 m, 10m and 20 m, and the case of 3% has the integral scales of 3 m, 6 m and 15 m with a turbulence grid. In particular, the wind with the turbulent intensity of 2% satisfies the Kolmogorov’s -5/3 multiplication rule of inertial subrange with the frequency range from 0.01 Hz to 2.0 Hz. Consequently, the new wind tunnel can be used for studying engineering technology and research regarding conditions with natural wind.

AIM:To investigate whether a noninvasive measurement of tissue strain has a potential usefulness for management of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH).METHODS:In total 26 patients,23 NASHs and 3 normal controls were enrolled in this *** was staged based on Brunt *** a region of interest(ROI),a shear wave was evoked by implementing an acoustic radiation force impulse(ARFI),and the propagation velocity was quantif ***:Shear wave velocity(SWV) could be reproducibly quantified at all ROIs in all subjects except for 4 NASH cases,in which a reliable SWV value was not calculated at several *** average SWV of 1.34 ± 0.26 m/s in fibrous stage 0-1 was significantly slower than 2.20 ± 0.74 m/s and 2.90 ± 1.01 m/s in stages 3 and 4,respectively,but was not significantly different from 1.79 ± 0.78 m/s in stage *** a cutoff value was set at 1.47 m/s,receiver operating characteristic analysis showed significance to dissociate stages 3 and 4 from stage 0-1(P=0.0092) with sensitivity,specificity and area under curve of 100%,75% and 94.2%,*** addition,the correlation between SWV and hyaluronic acid was significant(P<0.0001),while a tendency toward negative correlation was observed with serum albumin(P=0.053).CONCLUSION:The clinical implementation of ARFI provides noninvasive repeated evaluations of liver stiffness at an arbitrary position,which has the potential to shed new light on NASH management.

Effects of Far-Infrared Irradiative Heating Pasteurization on Fungi

The effect of far-infrared (FIR) irradiation pasteurization on fungi was quantitatively evaluated and compared with the effect of thermal conductive heating. After the bulk temperature of the sterile saline irradiated by FIR reached a steady given temperature, yeast cells (Candida albicans NBRC 1950 and Saccharomyces cerevisiae NBRC 1067) or fungal spores (Aspergillus niger NBRC 4781) were inoculated and FIR heating was conducted. A mullite cylinder FIR heater, with a main wavelength of 4 - 7 μm, was used for FIR heating. Death of fungi by FIR heating and by thermal conductive heating both followed first-order reaction kinetics, and the apparent death rate constants under different temperature conditions were obtained. For the same bulk temperatures, pasteurization by FIR heating was more effective than thermal conductive heating. The activation energy for the death of fungi by FIR irradiation was slightly lower than thermal conductive heating, indicating differences in the mechanism of action.

AIM: To compare the antisecretory activity and plasma drug concentrations of a single oral dose of 10 mg lafutidine, a novel H2 receptor antagonist, with those of the proton pump inhibitor lansoprazole (LPZ) 30 mg. METHODS: Ten volunteers without H pylori infection participated in this crossover study comparing lafutidine 10 mg with LPZ 30 mg. Intragastric pH was monitored for 6 h in all participants, and blood samples were collected from four randomly selected individuals after single-dose administration of each drug. RESULTS: The median intragastric pH was significantly higher in individuals who received lafutidine 10 mg than in those who received LPZ 30 mg 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 h after administration. Maximal plasma drug concentration was reached more promptly with lafutidine 10 mg than with LPZ 30 mg. CONCLUSION: In H pylori-negative individuals, gastric acid secretion is more markedly inhibited by lafutidinethan by LPZ.
