Growth mechanism of a preferentially oriented mordenite membrane

A preferentially oriented mordenite membrane was successfully prepared on a seeded porous α-alumina support. Characterization results of XRD (X-ray diffractometer) and FE-SEM (field emission scanning electron microscope) revealed that evolutionary selection might predominantly contribute to the formation of the sharply oriented mordenite membrane. The nec- essary conditions under which evolutionary selection occurs are: (a) the number density of nuclei on the support surface should be high enough at the early stage; (b) the crystals should grow fastest along one direction; and (c) the zeolite layer should proceed via the successive growth of the crystals nucleated on the support surface instead of the accumulation of the crystals formed in the bulk solution.

A new concept for producing highly pure Ti metal powder from ilmenite(FeTiO)_(3))is proposed in this *** nitride(TiN)or titanium oxycarbonitride(TiO_(x)C_(y)N_(z))could be synthesized in the first step via the simultaneous carbothermal reduction and nitridation(CTRN)of FeTiO3 to remove oxygen *** separate oxygen completely,high-quality TiS2 samples were then synthesized from TiN and TiC using S2 gas,and the clean sulfides were finally reduced toα-Ti powders with spherical morphology using electrolysis in molten CaCl_(2).Xray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM)in conjunction with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS),and elemental LECO analysis were used to study the phases and microstructures of the sulfides and the electrochemically reduced *** Ti powder showed no carbon contamination and consisted of high-purity foil-like Ti sheets with very low oxygen,carbon,and nitrogen contents of less than 0.15 wt%O,0.02 wt%C,and 0.003 wt%N,*** quality of the Ti powder was much higher than that of the powder obtained using the conventional OS process(proposed by *** and ***)starting directly from the oxides.

Ocean Mixing with Lead-Dependent Subgrid Scale Brine Rejection Parameterization in a Climate Model

Sea ice thickness is highly spatially variable and can cause uneven ocean heat and salt flux on subgrid scales in climate *** studies have demonstrated improvements in ocean mixing simulation using parameterization schemes that distribute brine rejection directly in the upper ocean mixed *** this study,idealized ocean model experiments were conducted to examine modeled ocean mixing errors as a function of the lead fraction in a climate model *** the lead is resolved by the grid,the added salt at the sea surface will sink to the base of the mixed layer and then spread *** averaged at a climate-model grid size,this vertical distribution of added salt is lead-fraction *** the lead is unresolved,the model errors were systematic leading to greater surface salinity and deeper mixed-layer depth(MLD).An empirical function was developed to revise the added-salt-related parameter n from being fixed to lead-fraction *** of this new scheme in a climate model showed significant improvement in modeled wintertime salinity and MLD as compared to series of CTD data sets in 1997/1998 and 2006/*** results showed the most evident improvement in modeled MLD in the Arctic Basin,similar to that using a fixed n=5,as recommended by the previous Arctic regional model study,in which the parameter n obtained is close to 5 due to the small lead fraction in the Arctic Basin in winter.

Parsing of human images is a fundamental task for determining semantic parts such as the face,arms, and legs, as well as a hat or a dress. Recent deep-learning-based methods have achieved significant improvements, but collecting training datasets with pixel-wise annotations is labor-intensive. In this paper,we propose two solutions to cope with limited ***, to handle various poses, we incorporate a pose estimation network into an end-to-end humanimage parsing network, in order to transfer common features across the domains. The pose estimation network can be trained using rich datasets and can feed valuable features to the human-image parsing network. Secondly, to handle complicated backgrounds,we increase the variation in image backgrounds automatically by replacing the original backgrounds of human images with others obtained from large-scale scenery image datasets. Individually, each solution is versatile and beneficial to human-image parsing, while their combination yields further improvement. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach through comparisons and various applications such as garment recoloring, garment texture transfer, and visualization for fashion analysis.

In this study, the effects of pre-carburization of catalyst, hydrogen addition to methane feed and the space velocity of methane on the catalytic performance in methane to benzene （MTB） reaction were discussed in detail over Mo/HZSM-5 catalyst at 1023 K and 0.3 MPa. Compared with the non-precarburized catalyst, the Mo catalyst pre-carburized under the flow of CHa＋4H2 at 973 K was found to have the higher activity and better stability. Further 6% H2 addition to the methane feed suppressed the aromatic type of coke formation effectively, and improved the stability of catalyst markedly, moreover gave a much longer reaction life of catalyst （53 h at 1023 K and 5400 ml/（g-h）） and much more formation amounts of benzene and hydrogen. With increase of methane space velocity, both the naphthalene formation selectivity and the coke formation selectivity were decreased by the shortened contact time; the benzene formation selectivity and total formation amount before the complete deactivation of catalyst were increased markedly, while the total naphthalene and coke formation amounts did not change much. At high methane space velocity （≥5400 ml/（g·h））, a new middle temperature coke derived from the high temperature aromatic coke was formed on the catalyst; all the coke formed could be burnt off at lower temperature in oxygen, compared with those obtained at low space velocity. Considering the benzene formation amount and catalyst stability together, 5400 ml/（g·h） was proved to be the most efficient methane space velocity for benzene production.

BACKGROUND Carcinosarcoma(spindle cell carcinoma) of the esophagus is an extremely rare event;the etiology and origins of this neoplasm have not yet been ***-mesenchymal transition(EMT) has been associated with invasion and metastasis, and may be related to the generation of a stem cell population within this *** SUMMARY We present the case of a 61-year-old male with nausea and fever. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed the presence of type 1 and 0-Ⅱc lesions located 35 cm from the incisors toward the esophago-gastric *** esophagectomy was performed. Macroscopic analysis revealed three polypoid lesions in the abdominal esophagus that accompanied the main lesion in the lower thoracic esophagus and 0-Ⅱc lesions that spread continuously with them. Histologically, the lesions included proliferating spindle cells. Adenocarcinomatous components were detected in a section near the foot, and squamous cell carcinoma was identified in the mucosa at the base of the *** patient was diagnosed with multiple carcinosarcomas, staged at pT1b(SM3),pN1(#110, #7), cM0, Stage Ⅱ(sarcomatous metastasis to the lymph nodes).Spindle cells did not express E-cadherin but were positive for EMT markers,including zinc finger E-box-binding homeobox 1, TWIST, and snail family transcriptional repressor 2. The patient has experienced no recurrence at 5 years and 2 mo after *** This report suggests that multiple sarcomatous tumors may be generated from primary squamous cell carcinoma via mechanisms related to EMT.

Urban green spaces have been arisen growing concern responded to the social and environmental costs of urban sprawl. A wide range of planning and policies has been and/or will be designed to protect urban green spaces and optimize their spatial pattern. A better design or planning of urban green space can make a major contribution to quality of environment and urban life, and furthermore can decide whether we can have a sustainable development in the urban area. Information about the status quo of urban green spaces can help planners design more effectively. However, how to quantify and capture such information will be the essential question we face. In this paper, to quantify the urban green space, a new method comprising gradient analysis, landscape metrics and GIS was developed through a case of Jinan City. The results demonstrate: 1) the gradient analysis is a valid and reliable instrument to quantify the urban green space spatial pattern precisely; 2) using moving window, explicit landscape metrics were spatially realized. Compared with quantifying metrics in the entire landscape, it would be better to link pattern with process and establish an important basis for analyzing the ecological and socioeconomic functions of green spaces.

Relationship between Primary Crystal Temperature and Carbon Equivalent in Cast Iron

CE （=%C＋（1/3）x（%Si）） does not suit experiment results in many cases. In this work, the effect of alloy elements on primary crystal temperature was measured and the relationship between primary crystal temperature （Tc） and carbon equivalent （CEL） was investigated. The results show that Tc （Celsius degree） = 1650-110 × （%C） -25 × （%Si）＋3 × （%Mn） -35 × （%P） -71 × （%5）-2 × （%Ni） -7 × （%Cr）; CEL=%C ＋ 0.23×（%Si）-0.03× （%Mn）＋0.32×（%P）＋0.64×（%S）＋0.02×（%Ni）＋0.06×（%Cr）. That is, in hypo eutectic composition, carbon equivalent should be calculated with CEL=%C＋ 0.23×（%Si）, not with CE=%C＋（1/3） x（%Si）.
