BACKGROUND Patients with diabetes mellitus(DM)are predisposed to an increased risk of infection signifying the importance of vaccination to protect against its potentially severe *** Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices(CDC/ACIP)issued immunization recommendations to protect this patient *** To assess the adherence of patients with DM to the CDC/ACIP immunization recommendations in Saudi Arabia and to identify the factors associated with the vaccine adherence *** An observational retrospective study conducted in 2023 was used to collect data on the vaccination records from 13 diabetes care centers in Saudi Arabia with 1000 eligible patients in phase I with data collected through chart review and 709 patients in phase II through online *** Among participants,10.01%(n=71)had never received any vaccine,while 85.89%(n=609)received at least one dose of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)vaccine,and 34.83%(n=247)had received the annual influenza *** 2.96%(n=21),2.11%(n=15),and 1.12%(n=8)received herpes zoster,tetanus,diphtheria,and pertussis(Tdap),and human papillomavirus(hPV)vaccines,*** patients with DM in Saudi Arabia,the rate of vaccination for annual influenza and COVID-19 vaccines was higher compared to other vaccinations such as herpes zoster,Tdap,pneumococcal,and *** such as vaccine recommendations provided by family physicians or specialists,site of care,income level,DM-related hospitalization history,residency site,hemoglobin A1c(hbA1c)level,and health sector type can significantly influence the vaccination rate in patients with *** non-vaccinated patients with DM,the most reported barriers were lack of knowledge and fear of side *** signifies the need for large-scale research in this area to identify additional factors that might facilitate adherence to CDC/ACIP vaccine recommendations in patients with *** In S

Clostridium perfringens bacteremia caused by choledocholithiasis in the absence of gallbladder stones

A 67-years-old male presented with periumbilical abdominal pain, fever and jaundice. his anaerobic blood culture was positive for clostridium perfringens. Computed tomogram scan of the abdomen and abdominal ultrasound showed normal gallbladder and common bile duct (CBD). Subsequently magnetic resonance cholangiopancreaticogram showed choledocholithiasis. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreaticogram-with sphincterotomy and CBD stone extraction was performed. The patient progressively improved with antibiotic therapy Choledocholithiasis should be considered as a source of clostridium perfringens bacteremia especially in the setting of elevated liver enzymes with cholestatic pattern.

目的基于基因组Survey分析对刺果甘草Glycyrrhiza pallidiflora Maxim.基因组大小和杂合率进行估计,并通过叶绿体基因组序列特征对其在甘草属Glycyrrhiza L.中的系统发育位置进行研究。方法使用二代测序技术对刺果甘草进行测序,采用K-mer方法对测序reads进行分析,估算刺果甘草基因组大小和杂合率,使用生物信息学方法进行叶绿体基因组组装、注释和系统发育分析。结果 Survey分析结果显示其基因组大小约为577.82 Mb,杂合度约为0.31%,重复序列比例约为53.72%。叶绿体基因组长度为127,267 bp,不具有典型的四分体结构,总GC含量为34.32%,包含110个基因,其中76个蛋白质编码基因,30个tRNA基因和4个rRNA基因。系统发育分析表明,刺果甘草与圆果甘草G. squamulosa Franch.亲缘较接近。结论刺果甘草存在低杂合和重复序列较多的特点,为了更好地对全基因组进行序列拼接和组装,可尝试采用三代测序结合二代测序的分析策略进行基因组组装;刺果甘草叶绿体全基因组比对和系统发育分析,为后续开展甘草属遗传多样性研究和分子鉴定标记筛选提供了重要依据。

目的为了探索乌拉尔甘草(Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch.)TIFY基因家族的特征并预测其功能,本研究在全基因组层面,应用生物信息学方法对乌拉尔甘草TIFY基因家族进行鉴定和分析。方法在乌拉尔甘草全基因组数据基础上,利用NCBI、MEME及TBtools等工具,结合基因保守结构域,对乌拉尔甘草TIFY基因家族的序列特征、分类、系统发育和基因表达模式进行分析。结果在乌拉尔甘草中鉴定到TIFY家族基因成员18个(GurTIFY1-GurTIFY18),分别属于TIFY、JAZ、PPD、ZML四个亚家族,编码的核苷酸长度为444-1266 bp,氨基酸长度在147-421 aa之间,等电点为4.57-9.68,分子质量为16741.11-44426.5 Da,含有10个保守基序和4个保守结构域。基因表达结果表明GurTIFY基因中GurTIFY15、GurTIFY4、GurTIFY1、GurTIFY11等在乌拉尔甘草叶和根中的表达水平具有显著差异性。结论本研究为深入理解TIFY基因响应非生物胁迫的调控机制和参与次生代谢物质累积的功能奠定基础,并为乌拉尔甘草优质品种选育提供科学参考。

Solar Thermal Aquaculture System Controller Based on Artificial Neural Network

Temperature is one of the most principle factors affects aquaculture system. The water temperature is very important parameter for shrimp growth. It can cause stress and mortality or superior environment for growth and reproduction. The required temperature for optimal growth is 34oC, if temperature increase up to 38oC it causes death of the shrimp, so it is important to control water temperature. Solar thermal water heating system is designed to supply an aquaculture pond with the required hot water in Mersa Matruh in Egypt as presented in this paper. This paper introduces a complete mathematical modeling and MATLAB SIMULINK model for the solar thermal aquaculture system. Moreover the paper presents the control of pond water temperature using artificial intelligence technique. Neural networks are massively parallel processors that have the ability to learn patterns through a training experience. Because of this feature, they are often well suited for modeling complex and non-linear processes such as those commonly found in the heating system. They have been used to solve complicated practical problems. The simulation results indicate that, the control unit success in keeping water temperature constant at the desired temperature by controlling the hot water flow rate.

Potential Antioxidant Activities Improve Salt Tolerance in Ten Varieties of Wheat (<i>Triticum aestivum</i>L.)

The activity of antioxidative enzymes system is affected by salt stress, chlorophyll content (ChL), leaf relative water content (RWC), Na+ and K+ contents, their ratio and some oxidative stress indices were studied in leaves of ten bread wheat cultivarsSehar-06, Lu-26, NARC-09, BARC-09 and Pirsbak-09’(salt-tolerant) and Kaghan-94, Rohtas-90, Soughat-90, Shaheen-94 and Zardana-89’(salt-sensitive), grown under salinity treatments carried out in five levels (1 dS·m-1 as control, 2, 4, 8, 16 dS·m-1) via sodium chloride. Under high salt potency significant increase for activities of antioxidant enzymes such as ascorbate peroxidase (APX) and guiacol peroxidase (GPX), occured in salt tolerant varieties. Meanwhile, under salinity condition the activities of antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and (GPX) in sensitive cultivar were lower than control. Regarding (APX) activity there was no significant difference between salinity and control situation. Under salt stress membrane stability index (MSI) of both cultivars were negatively influenced. hydrogen peroxide (h2O2) content of salinity sensitive cultivars was higher than control. Salt tolerant varieties had more amounts of K+ content, K+ and Na+ ratio, relative water content, yield and chlorophyll under salt conditions, and sensitive ones recorded higher Na+ content at tillering stage. The mechanism of salt stress might be achieved due to low lipid peroxidation, assumingly lower changes in membrane stability index and evasion of Na+ combination and amplified activity of antioxidant enzymes.

地衣是被广泛用于传统药物中的独特个体.本文对一类地衣,Parmotrema cooperi,进行了生物测定引导的植物化学研究和生物活性评价.对该类地衣的首次生物测定引导的化学研究分离出了化合物ethyl heamatomate(1),atraric acid(2),ethyl orsellinate(3),orsellinic acid(4),lecanoric acid(5),gyrophoric acid(6)以及licanorin(7).化合物1～7的结构主要通过一维、二维核磁共振谱和质谱等谱学方法判定.对这些化合物还进行了抗醣化活性以及尿素酶、α-胰凝乳蛋白酶、β-葡萄糖醛酸苷酶抑制活性的评价.这些苯酚化合物没有显示特别好的活性,但其中大部分对蛋白质醣化和尿素酶活性具有较好的抑制作用.
