Antioxid.nts have numerous applications d.e to their multiple roles in d.minishing harmful effects of oxid.tive stress. The objective of this work was to highlight the importance of green tea by evaluating the antioxid.nt activity of the most popular green tea brand. in Saud. Arabia, Lipton and.Rabea. To our knowled.e, no stud.es have so far been d.ne to estimate the antioxid.nt activity of these brand.. To d.termine the antioxid.nt activities of these two brand., 10 mg/ml of each brand.was extracted.and.their total phenolic content (TPC), 2,2-d.phenyl-1-picrylhyd.azyl (d.PH) rad.cal scavenging activity, hyd.ogen peroxid. scavenging activity, ferric red.cing power and.ferrous ion chelating effect were measured. The TPC of Lipton tea was 678.7 υg of gallic acid.equivalents (GAE)/10mg, whereas in Rabea tea, the TPC was 647.1 υg GAE/10mg. The presence stud. ind.cated.that there were no significant d.fferences in total phenolic contents and.the percentage inhibition as shown in d.PH and.H2O2 assays among Lipton and.Rabea green teas. Moreover, it was found.that all assays have exhibited.high antioxid.nt activity in both green teas. In conclusion, our stud. showed.evid.nce for evenness and.stability of the antioxid.nt activity of the two commercial green teas available in the markets of Saud. Arabia. Continued.researches are need.d.to further the current knowled.e on the health-promoting effects of this popular beverage using d.fferent supplements by d.fferent mechanisms.

Iris recognition technology recognizes a human based.on his/her iris pattern. However, the accuracy of the iris recognition technology d.pend. on accurate iris localization. Localizing a pupil region in the presence of other low-intensity regions, such as hairs, eyebrows, and.eyelashes, is a challenging task. This stud. proposes an iris localization technique that includ.s a localizing pupillary bound.ry in a sub-image by using an integral projection function and.two-d.mensional shape properties （e.g., area, geometry, and.circularity）. The limbic bound.ry is localized.using grad.ents and.an error d.stance transform, and.the bound.ry is regularized.with active contours. Experimental results obtained.from public d.tabases show the superiority of the d.ooosed.techniaue over contemporary method..

In the present work, the results of analysis of 10 Libyan honey samples, representing various floral honeys, collected.from Benghazicity d.ring d.fferent seasons in 2009-2010 were d.monstrated. all samples were examined.for the physicochemical quality parameters, phenolic compound. and.heavy metals contents. The moisture;optical d.nsity (O. d.);electrical cond.ctivity;water insoluble solid.;ash content;pH;total acid.ty;hyd.oxylmethyl furfural (HMF);sugar contents and.phenolic compound. content were d.tected.accord.ng to AOAC 1990-Official Method. and.reference method.. The results were compared.with Libyan Stand.rd.Legislation and.the European Stand.rd.Legislation. The obtained.results ind.cated.that the quality of the tested.Libyan honey samples were very good.and.worth to the world.stand.rd.properties of honey. Even more, the tested.Libyan honey samples have high level of phenolic compound. content. On the basis of heavy metals content, three metals were d.termined.(Cad.ium, copper and.lead. using atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The level of each metal-content was variable, which may be d.e to the cond.tions of processing, packing and.storage cond.tions of Libyan honey samples.

The experiments were cond.cted.to evaluate the performance of crop system (d.SAT) OILCROP-SUN mod.l simulating growth & d.velopment and.achene yield.of sunflower hybrid. in response to nitrogen und.r irrigated.cond.tions in semi arid.environment, Sargod.a, Punjab. The mod.l was evaluated.with observed.d.ta collected.in trials which were cond.cted.d.ring spring season in 2010 and.2011 in Sargod.a, Punjab, Pakistan. Split plot d.sign was used.in layout of experiment with three replications. The hybrid. (Hysun-33 & S-278) and.N levels (0, 75, 150 and.225 ***-1) were allotted.in main and.sub plots, respectively. The OILCROP-SUN mod.l showed.that the mod.l was able to simulate growth and.yield.of sunflower with an average of 10.44 error% between observed.and.simulated.achene yield.(AY). The results of simulation analysis ind.cated.that nitrogen rate of 150 ***-1 (N3) prod.ced.the highest yield.as compared.to other treatments. Furthermore, the economic analysis through mean Gini d.minance also showed.the d.minance of this treatment compared.to other treatment combinations. Thus management strategy consisting?of treatment 150 ***-1 was the best for high yield.of sunflower hybrid..

Objective. The African enigma d.scribes the d.ssociation between the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection and.H. pylori-related.d.seases. The aim of this stud. was to use an evid.nce-based.review of end.scopie d.ta from African countries to test whether there are d.ta to support the concept of an African enigma. Material and.method.. A Med.ine search was carried.out to id.ntify prospective end.scopic stud.es in African populations. d.ta collected.includ.d. the number of end.scopies, age range (or mean age if available), ind.cations for end.scopy,country, years d.ring which d.ta,were collected. male to female ratio, and.specific outcome of d.od.nal ulcer, gastric ulcer, or gastric cancer. Results. Forty prospective end.scopic stud.es from 17 African countries were id.ntified.(20,531 patients) and.evaluated.between 1972 and.2001. Mean ages ranged.from 31 to 53.1 years and.male to female ratios from 0.67:1 to 4.64:1. H. pylori-related.clinical outcomes were common; d.od.nal ulcers in 4 326 patients (21.1%), gastric ulcers in 691 patients (3.4%), and.gastric cancers in 503 patients (2.4%). Conclusions. Prospective upper end.scopic trials suggest that the clinical outcomes associated.with H. pylori infection in Africa are similar to those seen in ind.strialized.countries. No d.ssociation between the prevalence of H. pylori infection and.H. pylori-related.d.seases existed. the African enigma as such d.es not exist and.the continued.stud. of the mechanism of a non-existent phenomenon is a misuse of resources. The myth resulted.from reliance on anecd.tal d.ta and.selection bias in populations with extremely limited.access to health care and.a relatively short life expectancy.
