A Feasibility Study of Using Geothermal Energy to Enhance Natural Gas Production from Offshore Gas Hydrate Reservoirs by CO_(2) Swapping

The energy industry faces a significant challenge in extracting natural gas from offshore natural gas hydrate(NGH)reservoirs,primarily due to the low productivity of wells and the high operational costs *** present study offers an assessment of the feasibility of utilizing geothermal energy to augment the production of natural gas from offshore gas hydrate reservoirs through the implementation of the methane-CO_(2)swapping *** present study expands the research scope of the authors beyond their previous publication,which exclusively examined the generation of methane from marine gas ***,the current investigation explores the feasibility of utilizing the void spaces created by the extracted methane in the hydrate reservoir for carbon dioxide *** models were employed to forecast the heat transfer from a geothermal zone to an NGH reservoir.A study was conducted utilizing data obtained from a reservoir situated in the Shenhu region of the Northern South China *** findings of the model indicate that the implementation of geothermal heating can lead to a substantial enhancement in the productivity of wells located in heated reservoirs during CO_(2)swapping *** non-linear relationship between the temperature of the heated reservoir and the rate of fold increase has been *** is anticipated that the fold of increase will surpass 5 when the gas hydrate reservoir undergoes a temperature rise from 6℃ to 16℃.The mathematical models utilized in this study did not incorporate the impact of heat convection resulting from CO_(2)flow into the gas *** factor has the potential to enhance well *** mathematical models’deviation assumptions may cause over-prediction of well productivity in geothermal-stimulated *** research is required to examine the impacts of temperature drawdown,heat convection resulting from depressurization,heat-induced gas pressure increment,and the p

Effect of bank slope on the flow patterns in river intakes

In this work, we studied the dimensions of stream tube in the vertical as well as inclined bank conditions. Data were collected from both a physical model and a 3-D numerical model（SSIIM 2）. Equations for predicting stream tube dimensions were presented and compared with existing formulae. In comparison with vertical bank, it is found that inclining bank causes the bottom stream tube width to be greater than at the surface. The strength of secondary current formed at the entrance of branch channel is reduced. These changes in flow pattern can reduce the amount of sediment delivery into the intake.

Effect of Ar+,He+,and S+ Irradiation on n-InP Single Crystal

The irradiation effects of Ar+,He+and S+with energy from 10 eV to 180 eV on n-InP(l00)surface are analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and low energy electron *** irradiation on the n-InP surface,damage on the surface,displacement of the Fermi level and formation of sulfur species on S+exposed surface are found and *** annealing is done to suppress the surface states introduced by S+***,it is unsuccessful in removing the damage caused by noble ***,S+ions can efficiently repair the Ar+damaged surface,and finally form a fine 2x2 InP surface.

Synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles reinforced clay and their applications for removal of Pb(II)ions from aqueous media

The aim of the study was to synthesize zinc oxide nanoparticles(ZnONPs)composite with clay by a novel route and then to explore the capability of composite of ZnONPs and silty clay(SC)as adsorbents for Pb(II)eradication from aqueous media by batch adsorption *** effect of different operating factors like temperature,pH,dose and time of contact on the adsorption process were studied to optimize the ***,Freundlich,Dubinin-Radushkevich(DR)and Temkin isotherms were applied for the interpretation of the *** R^(2)and q values obtained from Langmuir model suggested that the process is best interpreted by this *** values of adsorption capacity(qm)noted were 12.43 mg·g^(-1) and 14.54 mg·g^(-1)on SC and ZnONPsSC *** kinetic studies exposed that pseudo second order(PSO)kinetics is followed by the processes suggesting that more than one steps are involved to control the rate of *** thermodynamic variables such as change in free energy(AGe),change in enthalpy(AH9)and change in entropy(ASe)were *** data suggested that Pb(II)adsorption on SC and ZnONPsSC are spontaneous,endothermic and feasible processes.

Fabrication of Fe–TiC–Al_2O_3 composites on the surface of steel using a TiO_2–Al–C–Fe combustion reaction induced by gas tungsten arc cladding

The aim of the present study was to fabricate Fe-TiC-Al2O3 composites on the surface of medium carbon *** this purpose,TiO2-3C and 3TiO2-4Al-3C-xFe（0 ≤ x ≤ 4.6 by mole） mixtures were pre-placed on the surface of a medium carbon steel *** mixtures and substrate were then melted using a gas tungsten arc cladding *** results show that the martensite forms in the layer produced by the TiO2-3C ***,ferrite-Fe3C-TiC phases are the main phases in the microstructure of the clad layer produced by the 3TiO2-4Al-3C *** addition of Fe to the TiO2-4Al-3C reactants with the content from 0 to 20wt%increases the volume fraction of particles,and a composite containing approximately 9vol%TiC and A12O3 particles *** composite substantially improves the substrate *** mechanism by which Fe particles enhance the TiC ＋ A12O3 volume fraction in the composite is determined.

Spatial optimization of soil and water conservation practices using coupled SWAT model and evolutionary algorithm

Soil and water conservation practices have been extensively used in effective watershed *** impact of each conservation practice is site specific and dependent on the implementation site in the *** order to select cost effective placement of conservation practices with high impact,a large number of spatial combinations is needed to be *** this study,an optimization model framework is presented to find cost effective solutions for sediment yield and runoff control in the Fariman dam watershed in the Northeast of *** was accomplished by integrating soil and water assessment tool(SWAT)for simulation of watershed hydrology and multi objective genetic algorithm(NSGA-II)for spatial optimization of soil and water conservation *** optimized solutions provided a trade-off between the two objective *** final Pareto-optimal shows that the impact of soil and water conservation practices on sediment yield is more than stream *** trade-offs between the objective functions show that the implementation of the median cost can lead to a significant decrease of 22.1%in the amount of sediment yield,and 10%in stream ***,percent change achieved through median cost is very close to percent reduction with the highest *** of low cost solution show that the vegetative practices are a suitable economic scenario for soil and water *** introduced framework can be adapted as a suitable tool for selecting cost effective conservation practices in different regions.

Experimental Investigation of Micro Heat Pipes of Different Cross-Sections Having Same Hydraulic Diameter

Effects of micro heat pipe （MHP） cross-sections and orientations on its thermal performance are experimentally investigated in this study. Tests are conducted using five different cross-sections （circular, semicircular, elliptical, semi-elliptical and rectangular） of micro heat pipes having same hydraulic diameter of 3 rnm placed at three different inclination angles （0°, 45°, 90°）, where water is used as the working fluid. Evaporator section of the MHP is heated by an electric heater and the condenser section is cooled by circulation of water in an annular space between condenser section and the water jacket. Temperatures at different locations of the MHP are measured using five calibrated K type thermocouples. Heat supply is varied using a voltage regulator which is measured by a precision ammeter and a voltmeter. It is found that thermal performance tends to deteriorate as the MHP is flattened. Thus among all cross-sections of MHP, circular one exhibits the best thermal performance in terms of heat flux dissipation followed by semi-elliptical, semi-circular, elliptical and rectangular cross-sections. Moreover, its heat transfer capability also decreases with decreasing of its inclination angle. Finally, a correlation is developed which covers all the experimental data within ＋7%.

Efect of Thermal Annealing on the Physical Properties of Zn_(1-x)Cu_xSe Thin Films Deposited by Close Spaced Sublimation Technique

Thin films of Zn1-xCuxSe （x= 0.00, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20） were grown on glass substrates by closed space sublimation technique. The deposited films were annealed at 200 ~C and 400 ~C in air for 1 h. The annealed samples have been investigated through Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy （RBS）, X-ray diffraction （XRD）, spectroscopic ellipsometer, spectrophotometer and Raman spectroscopy. Through RBS, the composition of the films was calculated and compared with the initial concentration. Structural characteriza- tion including crystal structure, crystal orientation, lattice parameter, grain size, strain and dislocation density were carried out using XRD data. From XRD spectra it was revealed that the as-deposited and annealed films were polycrystalline in nature with zinc-blende structure. However, the crystallinity and the grain size were improved with the increase of annealing temperature. According to Raman spectroscopy, it was observed that as deposited and annealed samples have the same characteristic vibrational modes of ZnSe at low and high frequency optical phonon modes while another mode was observed for 400 ℃ annealed samples at 745 cm-1. Spectroscopic ellipsometer has been used to found annealing effect on the optical properties of ZnSe. The band gap energy has been determined using transmission spectra. It was found that the band gap energy of the film increased with the increase of annealing temperature.
