Compression of ECG Signals Based on DWT and Exploiting the Correlation between ECG Signal Samples

This paper presents a hybrid technique for the compression of ECG signals based on DWT and exploiting the correlation between signal samples. It incorporates Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), Differential Pulse Code Modulation (DPCM), and run-length coding techniques for the compression of different parts of the signal;where lossless compression is adopted in clinically relevant parts and lossy compression is used in those parts that are not clinically relevant. The proposed compression algorithm begins by segmenting the ECG signal into its main components (P-waves, QRS-complexes, T-waves, U-waves and the isoelectric waves). The resulting waves are grouped into Region of Interest (RoI) and Non Region of Interest (NonRoI) parts. Consequently, lossless and lossy compression schemes are applied to the RoI and NonRoI parts respectively. Ideally we would lik. to compress the signal losslessly, but in many applications this is not an option. Thus, given a fixed bit budget, it mak.s sense to spend more bits to represent those parts of the signal that belong to a specific RoI and, thus, reconstruct them with higher fidelity, while allowing other parts to suffer larger distortion. For this purpose, the correlation between the successive samples of the RoI part is utilized by adopting DPCM approach. However the NonRoI part is compressed using DWT, thresholding and coding techniques. The wavelet transformation is used for concentrating the signal energy into a small number of transform coefficients. Compression is then achieved by selecting a subset of the most relevant coefficients which afterwards are efficiently coded. Illustrative examples are given to demonstrate thresholding based on energy pack.ng efficiency strategy, coding of DWT coefficients and data pack.tizing. In this work. we study the inverse problem stability of the continuous-in-time model which is designed to be used for the finances of public institutions. We discuss this study with determining the Loan measure from algebraic spending measure in Radon measure space M([tI,Θmax]), and in Hilbert space L2([tI,Θmax]) when they are density measures. For this inverse problem we prove the uniqueness theorem, obtain a procedure for constructing the solution and provide necessary and sufficient conditions for the solvability of the inverse problem in L2([tI,Θmax]).

Biliary endoscopic sphincterotomy: Techniques and complications

Biliary endoscopic sphincterotomy(EST) refers to the cutting of the biliary sphincter and intraduodenal segment of the common bile duct following selective cannulation, using a high frequency current applied with a special k.ife, sphincterotome, inserted into the papilla. EST is either used solely for the treatment of diseases of the papilla of Vater, such as sphincter of Oddi dysfunction or to facilitate subsequent therapeutic biliary interventions, such as stone extraction, stenting, etc. It is a prerequisite for biliary interventions, thus every practitioner who performs endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography needs to k.ow different techniques and the clinical and anatomic parameters related to the efficacy and safety of the procedure. In this manuscript, we will review the indications, contraindications and techniques of biliary EST and the management of its complications.

In this paper, we study the sensitivity of the optimum of the k.apsack.problem to the perturbation of the profit of a subset of items. We propose a polynomial heuristic in order to establish both lower and upper bound limits of the sensitivity interval. The aim is to stabilize any given optimal solution obtained by applying any exact algorithm. We then evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed solution procedure on an example and a set of randomly generated problem instances.

In this paper,a model of an ungrounded reactor winding is developed for transient voltage *** developed model is a black.box model where the state-space model is developed using the directly measured admittance matrix of the reactor ***,an improved model is developed,where the accuracy of the admittance matrix measurement set in the low frequency band is obtained indirectly using an additional set of voltage ratio *** the measured admittances are low,the accuracy of the diagonal admittance vectors in the low frequency band is low as ***,the accuracy at low frequencies obtained using the indirect measurements is improved at nodes with the lowest *** this paper,different approaches for indirect measurements are studied and the most accurate method is identified considering the physical structure of windings.

Different image processing algorithms have been evaluated in the context of geological mapping using Landsat TM data. False color composites, the principal component imagery, and IHS decorrelation stretching method for Landsat-5 TM data have been found useful for delineating the regional geological features, mainly to provide the maximum geological information of the studied area . The study testifies that using which image processing yields best results for geological mapping in arid and semiarid regions by preserving morphological and spectral information. Generally, the studied area can be divided into three main geological units: Basaltic intrusive rock., Metamorphic with varying intensities and Sedimentary rock..

With the advent of advanced energy management systems in distribution systems,there is a growing interest in rapid and reliable code for distribution system state estimation(DSSE)in large-scale *** DSSE methods employed in the industry are based on load scaling as they are well suited to the abundance of *** to the paucity of real-time measurements in DSSE,phasor measurement units(PMUs)have been proposed as a potential solution to increase the estimation ***,load scaling methodologies are not extendable for exploiting *** paper proposes a high-performance DSSE method that can handle the PMUs together with all common measurement types in industrial *** using Wirtinger calculus,the method operates entirely in complex variables and employs the latest version of advanced vector extensions(AVX-2)to reap the maximum potential of computer processing *** paper highlights the derivation of complex DSSE in matrix form,from which one can infer the implications on code reliability and *** results are reported on large-scale multi-phase distribution systems,and they are contrasted with a publicly available code for DSSE in real *** simulation results show that loop unrolling in AVX-2 contributes about a two-fold increase in the solving speed.

Behaviour and perception of parents on irrational use of antibiotics in children at primary care level:A cross-sectional study from Turk.y

Objective:To investigate the perception of antibiotics,the frequency of inappropriate antibiotic use,and the factors that lead to inappropriate antibiotic use by parents who apply to primary healthcare ***:This cross-sectional study included 973 parents who applied to primary healthcare *** analyzed basic concepts related to antibiotics prescribed for their children,antibiotic administration,and antibiotic resistance,as well as parents'k.owledge and attitudes towards antibiotic use,and their experiences,practices,and perceptions related to purchasing antibiotics without ***:In the past one year,78.9%of the parents gave antibiotics to their children at least once,and 39.1%gave antibiotics three or more *** of the participants(7.1%)reported having forced the physician to prescribe antibiotics and purchased antibiotics without a prescription(13.2%).The k.owledge about antibiotics and awareness about antibiotic resistance were found to be more frequent;among parents who had university degrees,higher income levels,two or fewer children,social insurance and negative behaviours were lower in those who received information about antibiotics from healthcare *** probability of tak.ng antibiotics without prescription was lower in that of with higher income level(OR 0.460;95%CI 0.219-0.965),and the probability of forcing antibiotic prescription was higher in those with 3 or more children(OR 6.94;95%CI 2.37-20.26).The score obtained from the awareness of antibiotic resistance sub-dimension was found to negatively affect the behavior of forcing antibiotic prescription(OR 0.852;95%CI 0.732-0.993)but the score obtained from the behaviour sub-dimension was positively affect this behaviour(OR 1.136;95%CI 1.011-1.276).Conclusions:Inappropriate antibiotic use appears to be a problem with negative perception,lack.of k.owledge and socioeconomic *** should be conducted to increase antibiotic k.owledge in parents
