The discovery of the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat(CRISPR)system has driven gene manipulation technology to a new era with applications reported in organisms that span the tree of *** utility of CRISPR-mediated editing was further expanded to mRNA following identification of the RNA-targeting Cas13 family of smaller endonuclease *** of this family to insect research,however,has been more *** this study,the smallest Cas13 family member,Cas13d,and guide RNAs(gRNAs)were complexed with a versatile nanomaterial(star polycation,SPc)to generate a proof-of-concept RNA-editing platform capable of disrupting mRNA expression of the eye pigmentation gene tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase(SfTO)in white-backed planthoppers(WBPHs).The resulting red-eye phenotype was present in 19.76%(with SPc)and 22.99%(without SPc)of the treatment groups and was comparable to the red-eye phenotype generated following conventional RNA interference knockdown(22.22%).Furthermore,the Cas13/gRNA phenotype manifested more quickly than RNA *** with the expected Cas13d mechanism,SfTO transcript levels were significantly *** together,the results indicate that the SPc-CRISPR-Cas13d/gRNA complex negatively impacted expression of the target *** findings confirm the utility of this novel mRNA disruption system in insects and lay the foundation for further development of these tools in the implementation of green agricultural pest management tactics.

This study presents the outcomes of the local earthquake tomography applied in the Moroccan Atlas domains. A seismic data collected by 36 seismic and a linearized inversion technics are used for determination of local velocity *** interpretation of tomography images results emphasizes a new and detailed lithosphere structure： a remaining subducted zone beneath the Souss Basin located from 20-to 45-km depth dipping to the North is detected and interpreted as a body that marks the border between the Moroccan Anti-Atlas and the Meseta-Atlas domains.A subduction zones is detected in the SW of the High Atlas, beneath the Hercynian Tichka massif from 10 to 50-km inclined away from Anti Atlas and in the eastern part of Anti Atlas, dipping northward from Jbel Ougnat at 15e40 *** junction of the western and middle High Atlas is depicted by two high velocity blocks subducting from 10 to 50 km depth. The first is dipping SW beneath the High Atlas and the second is dipping SE beneath the Ouarzazate *** the northern part of the southwestern High Atlas, a high velocity body dipping towards the north beneath the Essaouira Basin from 15 to 45 km *** northeastern part of the High Atlas in the Mougeur zone, a high velocity body is detected from 10 to 45 km depth, dipping to the Se E beneath the eastern High *** negative lithospheric anomalies found in the upper and in the lower crust are interpreted as a hot asthenospheric material upwelling from deep and gradually replacing the part of crust detached in the High Atlas. The occurrence magmatic activities in these regions testify the existence of a remaining subduction process. This paper argues the implication of these deep structures in the evolution of the Moroccan Atlas Mountain.

The aim of this study was to investigate antibacterial activity of Origanum compactum essential oils collected at three phenological stages on Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis. The antibacterial activity was evaluated using the agar-well diffusion assay. The MIC and MBC values were determined using the micro-dilution assay. The investigation of the antibacterial action was carried out by the evaluation of the effect of O. compactum essential oils on the antibacterial kinetic growth, the integrity of cell membrane and permeability of the cell membrane. The anti-quorum sensing activity was tested by the inhibition of the biofilm formation. The findings of this study showed that O. compactum essential oil has potent antibacterial activities against E. coli and B. subtilis. The lowest inhibition value against B. subtilis was obtained with O. compactum essential oil at the post-flowering stage (MIC=MBC=0.0312%(v/v)). The antibacterial mechanisms of O. compactum essential oils are related to the disturbing of the cell membrane integrity and the increasing of the membrane permeability, which leads to the leakage of genetic materials (DNA and RNA). Moreover, O. compactum essential oils inhibited the formation of the biofilms, a phenotype that has been known to be quorum sensing regulated.

AIM： To categorize neovessels morphology and to detect response to anti-angiogenic therapy by using structural and angiographic modes of swept source optical coherence tomography（SS-OCT）.METHODS： Thirty-two eyes with neovessels at disc（NVD） and neovessels elsewhere（NVE）-as diagnosed by fluorescein angiography-were included. Cross sectional OCT images of disc and macular regions were registered to enface OCT angiography（OCTA）, B-scan blood flow over lay and density maps. Three eyes received antiangiogenic ***： Pin point registration of cross-sectional OCT and OCTA images differentiated active NVD with vascular elements from fibrous or equivalent fibrovascular elements. En face images delineated NVE as vascular tufts or area of filling while cross-sectional images differentiated NVE from microvascular intraretinal abnormality（IRMA）. All cases were associated with enlargement of foveal avascular zone and or areas of capillary non perfusion. Regressed NVD appeared as ghost vessel or pruned vascular loops after ***： Structural and angiographic modes of SS-OCT can detect, characterize and categorize the pattern of wide spectrum of neovessels based on blood flow data and density maps. It is potentially useful to detect ischemic changes in the vascular bed and regression of NVD after therapeutic regimens providing substitute for invasive techniques.

Knowing that flavored products would increase the use of olive oil by non-traditional consumers and enhance the added value of this valuable agricultural product,the virgin olive oil(VOO)was flavored with the seeds of Pimpinella anisum(Green anise)using three different methods:classic maceration,ultrasonic assisted maceration and direct addition of the essential oil(EO).These methodswere compared under two main criteria:time and level of *** physico-chemical parameters and the thermal stability of flavored oils prepared by the three methods were determined by AOAC titration method and GC–MS analysis so as to compare the aromatization effect of the three *** trans-anethole is the major component of the EO of anise seeds as well as the indicator of the level of ***/MS analysis results of the flavored oils showed that the diffusion of trans-anethole in the flavored oil by direct addition of EO was very important(36.3%of the total volatile fraction of the flavored oil)in comparison to the oil flavored by ultrasonic assisted maceration or classic maceration(respectively 26.59%and 23.85%).These different aromatization methods ensure an improvement in the quality of VOO with an enrichment in polyphenols estimated at 35%in the case of ultrasonic flavored oil,an increase in the content of carotenoids and chlorophylls(67%and 21%respectively)in the event of aromatization by classic maceration,and a decrease in specific absorbency at 232 nmestimated at 29%during aromatization by addition of EO as well as a decrease in the peroxide value estimated at 26%in oil flavored by classic maceration unlike in oil flavored by ultrasoundwhich has seen an increase of around 20%.The aromatization was able to maintain the stability of the oils and its qualification as VOO with a gain in induction time in the case of treatment at 60℃ estimated at 29 and 27.5 d respectively in oils flavored by addition of EO and by conventional maceration,an improvement resist

Introduction: Since the first laparoscopic-assisted colon resection was introduced in 1991 by Jacobs et al., it has gradually become popular. Increasingly more colorectal surgeons admit that the laparoscopic technique leads to quicker functional recovery and improved short-term results when compared with the open approach. However, the laparoscopic technique has not previously been proven to gain significant benefits in colorectal surgeries. Recently, oncologic outcomes of colorectal cancer resection, in terms of lymph node harvest number and excision safety margin lengths, achieved under laparoscopy could be comparable to those obtained using the conventional open technique. However, the curability of colorectal cancer under the laparoscopic technique remains controversial because of the uncertainty about the overall recurrence rate. Objective: To study the outcome of colorectal surgeries in our department in order to compare laparoscopic surgery (LS) versus open surgery (OS) of colorectal cancer procedures in terms of operations duration, blood loss, intra and post-operative complications. Methods: Review of all colorectal cancer patients who underwent open and laparoscopic procedures between January 2014 and January 2020. Excluding patients, those have non-malignant tumors. Included in data collection are the patients’ demographic information, type of surgery, diagnostic test, complications, operative time, and hospital admission period. We will take the information from files of patients and our documentations during clinic visits. Results: A total of 101 patients underwent colorectal cancer surgery at King Salman Armed Forces Hospital from 1/1/2014 till 1/1/2020. Of these, 63 were male (62.3%). Of these colon cancer 68 cases (67%). The mean age was 47.2 years. Comorbidities included diabetes 13 (12%), hypertension 10 (9.9%), IHD 16 (15%), ESRD 4 (3.9%). Of these 41 were smokers (40.5%). BACKGROUND Chronic abdominal pain is the most common cause for gastroenterology consultation and is frequently associated with functional gastrointestinal disorders including irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease.
