The residual co.centratio.s o. HCHs, TC, DDTs, THCs and PCBs were measured in Sparus auratus co.lected fro. the eastern and western secto.s o. the Egyptian Mediterranean Sea, as the mo.t co.mo. fish species in the area. Gas chro.ato.raph equipped with 63Ni-electro. capture detecto. and 35% phenyl po.ysilphenylenesilo.ane capillary co.umn was used fo. the analysis and quantificatio. after well-established extractio. techniques. The co.centratio.s (wet weight) o. PCBs, DDTs, TCs, HCHs were: (1.87 - 616.66 ng·g-1), (0.42 - 98.28 ng·g-1), (0.06 - 2.94 ng·g-1), (0.35 - 11.77 ng·g-1), respectively in Sparus auratus co.lected fro. the eastern secto.. Ho.ever, these co.centratio.s as wet weight in Sparus auratus fro. the western secto. were: (5.75 - 605.53 ng·g-1), (1.53 - 226.47 ng·g-1), (0.09 - 8.12 ng·g-1), (0.26 - 5.80 ng·g-1), respectively. In general, co.centratio.s o. pesticides and PCBs in Sparus auratus either fro. the western o. eastern Egyptian Mediterranean co.st were far belo. the internatio.al permissible levels.

Ho.ever, the co.centratio.s o. dibutyltin (DBT) ranged fro. 0.07 to.2.27 with an average value o. 0.58 μgg-1;dry wt. A significant co.relatio. was fo.nd between TBT and DBT with r = 0.82, (p = 0.05) indicating that the o.currence o. DBT is mainly related to.the degradatio. o. TBT. Generally, the high co.centratio. o. TBT was attributed to.shipping activity in harbo.rs. In additio., Diphenyltin (DPhT) co.centratio.s ranged fro. no. detected to.2.09 with an average o. 1.10 μgg-1 dry wt. Antifo.ling agents, industrial discharge and the influence o. sewage discharge are the main so.rces o. po.lutio. by DPhT co.po.nds in Suez Gulf. o. the o.her side, o.gano.ead (o.C) co.centratio.s ranged fro. 10.88 - 440.2 with an average o. 168.7 ngg-1;dry wt. A significant setting o. o.C reco.ded in sediments o. Suez Gulf was mainly attributed to.cars exhaust and/o. spelling and direct evapo.atio. o. fuels.

The distributio.s o. 15 o.t o. 16 po.ycyclic aro.atic hydro.arbo.s (PAHs) were determined in surface and bo.to. water o. Alexandria co.sts (Egyptian Mediterranean Sea). To.al average PAH co.centratio.s were ranged fro. 9.89 to.677.25 ng/l, and fro. 2.21 to.345.29 ng/l in surface and bo.to. water, respectively. PAH co.centratio.s were at relatively lo. levels co.pared to.tho.e repo.ted fo. o.her estuaries and marine systems aro.nd the wo.ld. The ΣCo.B and ΣTF-PAHs suggest the o.igin o. hydro.arbo.s. The higher co.centratio.s o. to.al pyro.ytic hydro.arbo.s (ΣCo.B) than that o. to.al fo.sil hydro.arbo.s (ΣTFPAH) declared that atmo.pheric fall-o.t fro. traffic exhausts was the significant so.rce o. PAHs to.marine enviro.ment o. the semi-clo.ed areas o. Alexandria. Interferences o. rather petro.enic and pyro.ytic PAH co.taminatio.s were no.iced in the harbo.rs, especially marine area due to.petro.eum pro.ucts deliveries and fuel co.bustio. emissio.s fro. the ships awaiting alo.g side the quays.

Fo. the first time, a highly crystalline po.o.s shish-kebab structure with a high degree o. crystallinity was o.tained by using a co.binatio. o. two.metho.s fo. the fo.matio. o. po.o.s po.ymeric materials. A treatment pro.edure using supercritical carbo. dio.ide(sc Co.(2))was carried o.t fo. o.iented ultrahigh mo.ecular weight po.yethylene(UHMWPE) films, which pro.ided special co.ditio.s fo. the crystallizatio. o. disso.ved UHMWPE macro.o.ecules o. the surface o. o.iented UHMWPE crystals. The prepared po.o.s materials were investigated by scanning electro. micro.co.y(SEM) and differential scanning calo.imetry(DSC). The particularity o. the o.tained po.o.s shish-kebab is the absence o. the amo.pho.s phase between lamellar crystals(kebabs). The o.tained po.es had an o.al shape, and they were o.iented in the o.ientatio. directio. o. the UHMWPE macro.o.ecules. The po.e size ranged fro. 0.05 μm to.4 μm. Co.tro.ling the co.ditio.s fo. the crystallizatio. o. the UHMWPE macro.o.ecules using supercritical Co.(2) gives the po.sibility to.co.tro. the size o. bo.h lamellar disks and po.es fo.med.
