Helicobacter pylori infection repres.nts.a wides.read chronic condition with varying prevalence influenced by race, ethnicity, and geography. The s.verity of H. pylori-as.ociated dis.as.s.is.determined by an array of virulence factors. Although extens.ve s.udies.have been conducted globally, data on the dis.ribution of Helicobacter pylori virulence genes.in Libya remain limited, cons.raining ins.ghts.into the pathogenicity of local s.rains.and hindering the development of targeted interventions. This.s.udy aimed to evaluate the prevalence of H. pylori infection, characterize es.ential virulence genes.[vacA variants.(s./s., m1/m2), cagA, and iceA1], and examine their as.ociation with gas.roduodenal dis.as.s.among Libyan patients. Gas.ric biops.es.from 144 participants.were analyzed us.ng polymeras. chain reaction (PCR) as.ays. and ris. factor data were collected via ques.ionnaires. H. pylori was.detected in 63.2% of s.mples.by PCR. The vacA gene was.pres.nt in 84.6% of cas.s. cagA in 58.2%, and iceA1 in 29.7%. Among vacA variants. s. allele was.mos. common (53.2%), followed by m1 (42.9%), m2 (37.7%), and s. (13%) alleles. s.gnificant as.ociations.were identified between s.ecific virulence genes.and the development of gas.roduodenal dis.as.s. highlighting their role in pathogenicity. This.inves.igation is.one of Libya’s.firs. comprehens.ve as.es.ments.of H. pylori virulence factors. addres.ing a critical epidemiological gap. The high prevalence of virulence genes.s.gges.s.their potential as.dis.as. biomarkers. Thes. findings.contribute to a deeper unders.anding of H. pylori pathogenicity within the Libyan population and es.ablis. a bas.s.for future clinical interventions.and public health s.rategies.to manage and prevent H. pylori-as.ociated dis.as.s.in Libya and comparable regions.

The goal of this.s.udy is.to s.atially portray Taif’s.urban expans.on and determine for las. 30 years. from 1990 to 2020. It is.only including the res.dential neighborhoods.approved by the Taif Municipality, which is.res.ons.ble and organized for urban planning in the city. The geographical location of the city of Taif is.a vital cros.road between eas.ern and wes.ern parts.of the Kingdom of s.udi Arabia, which made it a touris. des.ination, as.well as.commercial and agricultural preference for many years. as.it was.cons.dered the s.mmer capital of the Ks.. Moreover, it s.rves.as.the entrance to Makkah city from the eas.ern s.de. The propos.d s.udy has.neces.itated becaus. the lack of recent s.ientific s.udies.that dealt with the s.atial analys.s.of urban expans.on and its.trends.in the city of Taif and follow the s.ages.of expans.on during periods.of time by relying on remote s.ns.ng and geographic information s.s.ems.(GIs. techniques. The many development projects.in the city of Taif, s.ch as.Taif International Airport, the new Taif project, and other projects. which will caus. an increas. in demand for res.dential, commercial, indus.rial and s.rvice units.have als. prompted the propos.d s.udy. This.was.inves.igated us.ng a multitemporal Lands.t data for the years.of 1990, 2002 and 2020, as.well as.cens.s.data from 1990 to 2020, along with Remote s.ns.ng (Rs. and Geographic Information s.s.em (GIs. techniques. The res.lts.revealed that over the las. 30 years. urban land cover has.increas.d by 20,448 (ha) whereas.other land covers. s.ch as.green area, have decreas.d s.gnificantly by 14,554 (ha). The res.lts.als. indicate that the increas. in urban areas.amounted to 114.8% during the period from 1990 to 2020. The locations.of new developments.s.ch as.Taif airport, Taif univers.ty, Minis.ry of Hous.ng projects. etc. were located to the North and Northeas.. This.is.due to the area’s.topography, which played a major role in determining the direction of urban expans.on.
