Response of seed yield and fatty acid compositions for some sunflower genotypes to plant spacing and nitrogen fertilization

A field experiment was conducted at the experiment Farm of Kafr-el-Hamam Research Station,Zagazig,Sharkia Governorate,Agricultural Research Center,Egypt during the two successive summer seasons of 2015 and 2016 to achieve the highest yield and good oil quality of three tested sunflower *** both seasons,the experiment was conducted using the split split plot design in randomized complete block design with three replicates arrangement keeping plant spaces(15,20 and 25 cm apart between hills)in main plots,nitrogen fertilization levels(15,30 and 45 N fad.^-1)in sub plots and sunflower genotypes(Giza 102,Sakha 53 and promising line of L120)in sub sub *** and quality traits were significantly influenced by plant spaces,nitrogen fertilization levels and genotypes as well as interactions in both seasons and their combined *** wider plant spacing of 25 cm seems to be a good compromise between the highest seed yield fad.^-1 and good acid composition of *** increasing of nitrogen fertilization level had a positive reflected on yield and desirable acid composition of *** 53 was ranked in the first order in stem diameter,head diameter,100-seed weight,seed weight plant^-1,flowered late and hence seed yield fad.^-1 as well as seed oil content whereas,Giza 102 characterized with its contained the highest proportion of oleic and linoleic unsaturated fatty *** highest values of head diameter,100-seed weight,seed weight plant^-1 and hence seed yield fad.^-1 as well as the highest proportion of oleic and linoleic unsaturated fatty acids composition were obtained by grown sunflower *** 53 at wider spacing of 25 cm with application of nitrogen fertilization levels of 45 N fad.^-*** and path analyses revealed that 100-seed weight and head diameter had the highest direct and indirect influence on seed weight plant1,at the same time also,oleic acid content and linoleic acid content had the highest direct and indirect effect inf

Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging and micro-RNA in the diagnosis of hepatic fibrosis in chronic hepatitis C virus

BACKGROUND Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging has shown promise in the detection and quantification of hepatic fibrosis. In addition, the liver has numerous endogenous micro-RNAs(miRs) that play important roles in the regulation of biological processes such as cell proliferation and hepatic *** To assess diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging and miRs in diagnosing and staging hepatic fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis *** This prospective study included 208 patients and 82 age-and sex-matched controls who underwent diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging of the abdomen, miR profiling, and liver biopsy. Pathological scoring was classified according to the METAVIR scoring system. The apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and miR were calculated and correlated with pathological *** The ADC value decreased significantly with the progression of fibrosis, from controls(F0) to patients with early fibrosis(F1 and F2) to those with late fibrosis(F3 and F4)(median 1.92, 1.53, and 1.25 × 10^(-3) mm^2/s, respectively)(P = 0.001).The cut-off ADC value used to differentiate patients from controls was 1.83 × 10^(-3) mm^2/s with an area under the curve(AUC) of 0.992. Combining ADC and miR-200 b revealed the highest AUC(0.995) for differentiating patients from controls with an accuracy of 96.9%. The cut-off ADC used to differentiate early fibrosis from late fibrosis was 1.54 × 10^(-3) mm^2/s with an AUC of 0.866. The combination of ADC and miR-200 b revealed the best AUC(0.925) for differentiating early fibrosis from late fibrosis with an accuracy of 80.2%. The ADC correlated with miR-200 b(r =-0.61, P = 0.001), miR-21(r =-0.62, P = 0.001), and miR-29(r = 0.52,P = 0.001).CONCLUSION Combining ADC and miRs offers an alternative surrogate non-invasive diagnostic tool for diagnosing and staging hepatic fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis C.

BACKGROUND Proton pump inhibitors are often used to prevent gastro-intestinal lesions induced by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory ***,they are not always effective against both gastric and duodenal lesions and their use is not devoid of side *** To explore the mechanisms mediating the clinical efficacy of STW 5 in gastroduodenal lesions induced by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs(NSAIDs),exemplified here by diclofenac,in a comparison to *** Gastro-duodenal lesions were induced in rats by oral administration of diclofenac(5 mg/kg)for 6 successive *** group was given concurrently STW 5(5 mL/kg)while another was given omeprazole(20 mg/kg).A day later,animals were sacrificed,stomach and duodenum excised and divided into 2 segments:One for histological examination and one for measuring inflammatory mediators(tumor necrosis factorα,interleukins-1βand 10),oxidative stress enzyme(heme oxygenase-1)and apoptosis regulator(B-cell lymphoma 2).RESULTS Diclofenac caused overt histological damage in both tissues,associated with parallel changes in all parameters *** 5 and omeprazole effectively prevented these changes,but STW 5 superseded omeprazole in protecting against histological damage,particularly in the *** The findings support the therapeutic usefulness of STW 5 and its superiority over omeprazole as adjuvant therapy to NSAIDs to protect against their possible gastro-duodenal side effects.

Optimization of double chamber microbial fuel cell for domestic wastewater treatment and electricity production

Microbial fuel cells(M FCs)represent a new approach for treating w aste w ater along w ith electricity *** present study addressed electricity production from domestic w astew ater using a mediator-less double chamber M *** electricity production w as monitored under different operational conditions for both summer and w inter *** of the anodic and cathodic chambers resulted in a maximal current of 0.784 and 0.645 m A w ith the maximal pow er intensity of 209 and 117 m W/m2in pow er duration of 24 h for the summer and w inter samples,*** electron microscopy show ed that the bacterial biofilm formation on the anode w as denser for the summer sample than that w hen the w inter sample w as used,so w as the total bacterial ***,samples taken during summer w ere considered better in electricity production and w aste w ater treatment than those taken during w inter basically because of the high microbial load during the hot *** parallel,there w as a decrease in both biological oxygen demand(BOD5)and chemical oxygen demand(COD)values which reached 71.8%and 72.85%,respectively at the end of the operation process for the summer sample,w hile there w as no evident decrease for the w inter *** the operating conditions not only increased the potential of using domestic w aste w ater in microbial fuel cells to produce electricity,but also improved the quality of the domestic w aste w ater.

Predictors of renal angioembolization outcome:A retrospective analysis with 148 patients at a tertiary urology institute

Objective:The aim of this study was to evaluate the predictor of unsuccessful outcome of renal angioembolization(RAE).Knowing those predictors may help in avoiding unnecessary RAE procedures and their associated side effects,while helping to prepare for an alternate procedure and improving patient's overall ***:A retrospective analysis between January 2006 and December 2018 was performed,and the indications for RAE were classified into post-traumatic,iatrogenic,renal tumors,and *** who underwent RAE prior to nephrectomy were *** tomography angiography was performed in patients with normal renal function and those who had no contrast allergy,otherwise magnetic resonance angiography was *** the purpose of statistical analysis,we stratified patients into two main categories based on the final outcome—successful or ***:Of 180 patients,32 with negative angiography were eliminated,leaving 148 patients;136(91%)had successful outcomes after one or more trials and 12 had unsuccessful *** mean age was 45±15 years,and 105(71%)were *** gender,side of the lesion,presence of hematuria,indication for RAE,nor the type of lesion affected the *** the other hand,renal anatomy with presence of accessory artery was the only predictor to failed RAE(p=0.001).Failed RAE trial was a predictor for nephrectomy as a secondary procedure(p=0.03).Conclusion:No pre-procedural predictors could anticipate the RAE outcome,and different indications can be scheduled to RAE,which is equally *** presence of accessory renal artery on diagnostic angiography is the only factor that may predict the failure of the procedure.

Induction of sub-G0 arrest and apoptosis by seed extract of Moringa peregrina（Forssk.） Fiori in cervical and prostate cancer cell lines

Objective: This study investigated cytotoxicity and induction of apoptosis in human cervical cancer cells(HelA) and prostate cancer cells(PC-3) using the most active fraction of Moringa peregrina seed ***: Dried and powdered seeds were extracted using 95% ethanol. The total ethanolic extract was further dissolved in distilled water and separated into petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate and aqueous extracts. Based on the results of in vitro anticancer studies of all extracts, the most highly active extract was selected for evaluation of apoptosis induction and cell cycle analysis on HelA and PC-3 cells at its half maximal inhibitory concentration using flow cytometry;DNA fragmentation by agarose gel electrophoresis and the expression of protein were measured by Western ***: The chloroform fraction from the ethanolic extract of M. peregrina(CFEE) was the most active antitumor fraction. The selectivity index, determined using the normal Vero cell line, indicated that CFEE had a high degree of selectivity against HelA and PC-3 cells. CFEE induced apoptosis, confirmed by cell cycle arrest at sub-G0 phase and DNA fragmentation. CFEE induced an increase in mRNA expression of caspase-3, a decrease in Bcl-2 mRNA expression, and decreased ATP levels. CFEE increased protein expression of caspase-3 and decreased protein expression of poly-ADP-ribose polymerase-1(PARP-1).Flow cytometric analysis showed an appreciable increase in the number of cells in the early apoptotic stage in CFEE-treated HelA and PC-3 cells. CFEE treatment significantly increased lipid peroxidation(malondialdehyde level) in HelA and PC-3 ***: Seed extract of M. peregrina displayed a significant antitumor effect through apoptosis induction in HelA and PC-3 cells.

The structure of 2-carboxamidomethylene-4-thiazolidinone 1 has two active methylene groups: one is endocyclic and close the carbonyl group, where the other is branched at position 2 and close to endocyclic amino group. Thus, the reactivity of compound 1 towards arylidenemalononitrile and ethyl α-cyanocinnamates as electrophiles was studied. Consequently, a new route to the synthesis of pyrano[2,3-d]thiazoles 4a-d and 7a-d has been developed through heterocyclization of carboxamidomethylene -4-thiazolidinone 1 with some α-cyanocinnmonitriles derivatives.

Trends and outcomes of pancreaticoduodenectomy for periampullary tumors: A 25-year single-center study of 1000 consecutive cases

AIM To evaluate the evolution, trends in surgical approaches a n d r e c o n s t r u c t i o n t e c h n i q u e s, a n d i m p o r t a n t lessons learned from performing 1000 consecutive pancreaticoduodenectomies(PDs) for periampullary *** This is a retrospective review of the data of all patients who underwent PD for periampullary tumor during the period from January 1993 to April 2017. The data were categorized into three periods, including early period(1993-2002), middle period(2003-2012), and late period(2013-2017).RESULTS The frequency showed PD was increasingly performed after the year 2000. With time, elderly, cirrhotic and obese patients, as well as patients with uncinate process carcinoma and borderline tumor were increasingly selected for PD. The median operative time and postoperative hospital stay decreased significantly over the periods. Hospital mortality declined significantly, from 6.6% to 3.1%. Postoperative complications significantly decreased, from 40% to 27.9%. There was significant decrease in postoperative pancreatic fistula in the second 10 years, from 15% to 12.7%. There was a significant improvement in median survival and overall survival among the *** Surgical results of PD significantly improved, with mortality rate nearly reaching 3%. Pancreatic reconstruction following PD is still debatable. The survival rate was also improved but the rate of recurrence is still high, at 36.9%.

The four isolates solid complexes:[La(RHC)(NO_(3))_(2)]·3H_(2)O,[Nd(RHC)(NO_(3))_(2)]·4H_(2)O,[Eu(RHC)(NO_(3))_(2)]·2H_(2)O,and[Ce(RHC)(NO_(3))_(2)]·5H_(2)O that obtained by the reaction of the nitrate salts of the Ce(Ⅲ),Eu(Ⅲ),Nd(Ⅲ)and La(Ⅲ)ions and rhodamie C(RHC)ligand were interpretative using elemental analysis(C,H and N),molar conductivity,infrared,electronic,fluorescence and 1H-NMR spectra to achieve the speculated suitable *** low molar conductance values of the synthesized RHC complexes concluded the non-electrolytic *** infrared spectra recorded the absence of stretching vibrationν(OH)of the—COOH and presence of two new vibration bands at 1597~1601 and 1383~1399 cm^(-1)which were assigned toνas(COO-)andνs(COO-).The difference between them revealed that the carboxylate group acts as a bidentate ligand.1HNMR spectra of Europium and lanthanum(Ⅲ)complexes were supported the FTIR results based on the absent of proton of the carboxylic ***,the microanalytical and spectroscopic results deduced that RHC acts as a monobasic bidentate ligand,and coordinated to the central metal(Ⅲ)ions via the two oxygen atoms of deprotonated carboxylic *** studies were performed on the metal complexes of Ce^(3+),Tb^(3+),Th^(4+),Gd^(3+)and La^(3+),that referred a quenching in the fluorescene intensity of rhodamine C in the aqueous state after *** antimicrobial assessment against some kind of bacteria and fungi were also checked and recorded enhancement in case of their complexes.

The vitreomacular interface in different types of agerelated macular degeneration

AIM： To evaluate the vitreomacular interface in cases with wet age-related macular degeneration（AMD） and to compare them to eyes with dry AMD and normal ***： This was a cross-sectional comparative study that included 87 eyes with wet AMD,42 eyes with dry AMD and 40 eyes without AMD as a control *** coherence tomography（OCT） examination was performed for all patients to assess the vitreomacular ***： In the wet AMD group,34.5% of cases had vitreomacular adhesion（VMA）.Only 14.3% of dry AMD cases and 10% of control cases had *** was a significant difference between the control group and the wet AMD group（P=0.004） as well as the dry and wet AMD group（P=0.017）.There was also a significant difference between the incidence of VMA in patients with subretinal choroidal neovascularization（CNV,type 1） and intraretinal CNV（type 2 or type 3）（P=0.020）.CONCLUSION： There is an association between posterior vitreous attachment and *** is also an increased incidence of VMA with intra-retinal CNV.
