IL-15 temporally reorients IL-10 biased B-la cells toward I L- 12 expression

Interleukin （IL）-15 is known to strongly modulate T-cell function; however, its role in controlling mucosal immunity, including its ability to modulate B-la cell activity, remains to be elucidated. Here, we show that IL-15 upregulates activation molecules and the costimulatory molecule CD80 on viable B-la cells. Cell activation was accompanied by the depletion of sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectin （Siglec）-G, an inhibitor of cell activation that is present on B-la cells. The IL-15 receptor CD122 was stimulated on B-la cells by the cytokine showing its direct involvement in IL-15-mediated responses. IL-IO is responsible for the long term survival of B-la cells in culture, which is initially promoted by IL-15. The upregulation of IL-IO was followed by the appearance of suppressor of cytokine signaling （SOCS）I in the presence of IL-15 and the loss of IL-IO. This resulted in the cells switching to IL-12 expression. This anti-inflammatory to pro-inflammatory shift in the B-la cell character was independent of the cell-specific marker CD5, which remained highly expressed throughout the in vitro life of the cells. The presence of the immunosuppressive receptor programmed cell death （PD）-I and its ligand PD-L2 were features of a predominantly IL-IO response. PD-1 and PD-L2 can mediate juxtacrine signaling. However, the abrogation of PD-1 and its ligand was observed when the cells expressed IL-12. This demonstrates an inverse relationship between the receptor and ligand and the pro-inflammatory cytokine. The induction of IgM and IgA, which can play pivotal roles in mucosal immunity, was promoted in the presence of IL-15. Collectively, the data implicate IL-15 as the master cytokine that induces B-la cells to mount a mucosal immune response.

Oligomerization of Vibrio cholerae Hemolysin Induces CXCR3 Upregulation and Activation of B-1a Cell

The hemolysin oligomer promotes the proliferation of B-1a cells and the expression of CD25, which is indicative of cell activation, on B-1a cells. The upregulation of CD86 induced by the oligomer showed its selective bias for the B7-2 member of B7 family while the monomer failed to induce these effects. The oligomer induced the expression of CXCR3, associated with B cell activation, while the monomer induced the expression of CXCL4, a powerful angiostatic chemokine. In conclusion, we found that B-1a cells responded to the apoptogenic monomer by expressing CXCL4, whereas oligomerization of the immunogen induced CXCR3 to shift the response towards activation.

Arsenic,a dangerous bio-accumulative poison,is a grave threat affecting a large number of people as well as animals throughout theWorld,particularly in Bangladesh and West Bengal,*** is also a matter of concern as continuously entering into food chain through biotic and abiotic *** present study was conducted to evaluate the experimental effect of arsenic toxicosis on Garole sheep of West *** group was subjected to oral arsenic exposure@6.6 mg Kg1 over 133 days when rests considered as negative *** arsenic estimation in wool,urine and feces along with hemato-biochemical alteration were checked *** was evident from the study that long term arsenic exposure exerted a significant(p<0.01)alteration compared to normal animal which were further supported by clinical *** animals showed histological changes throughout major internal organs like coagulative necrosis of liver,tubular nephritis of kidney and acanthosis of skin *** bioaccumulative and excretion pattern of arsenic inside body were also well understood by the arsenic estimation study of wool,urine and feces which may be helpful for discussion regarding arsenic entry into food chain via animals.

Study of Complex Nitrogen and Oxygen-bearing Molecules toward the High-mass Protostar IRAS 18089–1732

The observation of oxygen(O)-and nitrogen(N)-bearing molecules gives an idea about the complex prebiotic chemistry in the interstellar *** millimeter and submillimeter wavelength observations have shown the presence of complex O-and N-bearing molecules in the star formation ***,the investigation of those molecules is crucial to understanding the chemical complexity in the star-forming *** this article,we present the identification of the rotational emission lines of N-bearing molecules ethyl cyanide(C_(2)H_(5)CN)and cyanoacetylene(HC_(3)N),and O-bearing molecule methyl formate(CH_(3)OCHO)toward high-mass protostar IRAS18089–1732 using the Atacama Compact *** also detected the emission lines of both the N-and O-bearing molecule formamide(NH_(2)CHO)in the envelope of IRAS 18089–*** have detected the v=0 and 1 state rotational emission lines of CH_(3)*** also detected the two vibrationally excited states of HC_(3)N(v7=1 and v7=2).The estimated fractional abundances of C_(2)H_(5)CN,HC_(3)N(v7=1),HC_(3)N(v7=2),and NH_(2)CHO toward IRAS 18089–1732 are(1.40±0.5)×10^(-10),(7.5±0.7)×10^(-11),(3.1±0.4)×10^(-11),and(6.25±0.82)×10^(-11)***,the estimated fractional abundances of CH_(3)OCHO(v=0)and CH_(3)OCHO(v=1)are(1.90±0.9)×10^(-9)and(8.90±0.8)×10^(-10),*** also created the integrated emission maps of the detected molecules,and the observed molecules may have originated from the extended envelope of the *** show that C_(2)H_(5)CNand HC_(3)N are most probably formed via the subsequential hydrogenation of the CH_(2)CHCNand the reaction between C_(2)H_(2)and CN on the grain surface of IRAS 18089–*** found that NH_(2)CHO is probably produced due to the reaction between NH_(2)and H_(2)CO in the gas ***,CH_(3)OCHO is possibly created via the reaction between radical CH_(3)O and radical HCO on the grain surface of IRAS 18089–1732.

The development of zero and negative therma expansion(i.e.,ZTE and NTE)materials is of crucial importance to the control of undesirable thermal expansion for high-precision *** the present work,ZTE and NTE were obtained in directionally-solidified Mn_(x)Fe_(5-x)Si_(3)alloys with a strongtexture,in striking contrast to positive thermal expansion in their isotropic counterparts Magnetometry and in-situ X-ray diffraction(XRD)measurements were performed to uncover the origin of the anomalous thermal *** measurements indicate a strong easy-plane magnetocrystalline anisotropy in the textured samples,where the magnetic moments are aligned within the ab plane of the hexagonal structure Temperature-dependent XRD on the x=1 sample reveals a ZTE character in the ab plane that is coupled to a ferromagnetic *** a result,the macroscopic ZTE(~0.22×10^(-6)K^(-1))in the x=1 sample can be attributed to the microscopic magneto volume effect within the ab plane,which is realized by the introduction of the-textured ***,the competition between antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic exchange coupling leads to NTE in textured x=1.5 and 2 ***,textured x=1 sample displays enhanced magnetocaloric properties as compared to the conventional counterparts with randomly-oriented *** this work demonstrates a new strategy toward the exploration of anomalous thermal expansion properties as well as the enhancement of magnetocaloric properties for materials with a strong magnetocrystalline anisotropy.

AIM: To find the anti-inflammatory and anti-platelet aggregatory activity of human placental extract （HPE, Placentrex）.METHODS: The HPE was studied for anti-inflammatory effect in Wistar rats on carrageenin, serotonin （5-HT）,and prostaglandin E1（PGE1） induced edema in acute model and cotton pellet induced granuloma on sub-acute model. Anti-platelet aggregation was studied against protection of adinosine diphosphate （ADP）-induced aggregation of human platelet through in vitro study. RESULTS: HPE showed positive results both in acute and sub-acute models of inflammation. Highly significant （P<0.01） results were obtained against 5-HT induced acute inflammation and cotton pellet induced sub-acute inflammation in comparison with standard （diclofenac sodium） and control（normal saline） drugs. The anti-inflammatory property of HPE in animal model was well supported with clinical study of platelet aggregation. There was highly significant （P<0.01） inhibition of platelet aggregation with HPE at different doses against ADP. CONCLUSION: Our data suggest that human placental extract may be useful in suppressing inflammation and platelet aggregation.

Noise reduction methods in the analysis of near infrared lunar occultation light curves for high angular resolution measurements

A lunar occultation （LO） technique in the near-infrared （NIR） provides angular resolution down to milliarcseconds for an occulted source, even with ground- based 1 m class telescopes. LO observations are limited to brighter objects because they require a high signal-to-noise ratio （S/N ~40） for proper extraction of angular diameter values. Hence, methods to improve the S/N ratio by reducing noise using Fourier and wavelet transforms have been explored in this study. A sample of 54 NIR LO light curves observed with the IR camera at Mt Abu Observatory has been used. It is seen that both Fourier and wavelet methods have shown an improvement in S/N compared to the original data. However, the application of wavelet transforms causes a slight smoothing of the fringes and results in a higher value for angular diameter. Fourier transforms which reduce discrete noise frequencies do not distort the fringe. The Fourier transform method seems to be effective in improving the S/N, as well as improving the model fit, particularly in the fainter regime of our sample. These methods also provide a better model fit for brighter sources in some cases, though there may not be a significant imorovement in S/N.

Effect of Rare Earth and Transition Metal Elements on the Glass Forming Ability of Mechanical Alloyed Al–TM–RE Based Amorphous Alloys

The present work aims to compare the amorphous phase forming ability of ternary and quaternary Al based alloys （Al86Ni8Y6, Al86GNi6Y6Co2, Al86NigLa6 and Al86Ni8Y45La15） synthesized via mechanical alloying by varying the composition, i.e. fully or partially replacing rare earth （RE） and transition metal （TM） elements based on similar atomic radii and coordination number. X-ray diffraction and high resolution transmission electron microscopy study revealed that the amorphization process occurred through formation of various intermetallic phases and nanocrystalline FCC Al. Fully amorphous phase was obtained for the alloys not containing lanthanum, whereas the other alloys containing La showed partial amorphization with reappearance of intermetallic phases attributed to mechanical crystallization. Differential scanning calorimetry study confirmed better thermal stability with wider transformation temperature for the alloys without La.

An efficient and comparative adsorption of Congo red and Trypan blue dyes on MgO nanoparticles: Kinetics, thermodynamics and isotherm studies

Cubic phase of Mg O nanoparticles were prepared by microwave-assisted combustion synthesis and investigated for the removal of toxic dyes like Congo Red(CR)and Trypan blue(TB).The crystallite size of the Mg O nanoparticle was calculated to be 18 nm from XRD *** sample was further characterized by FTIR,TGA and FESEM *** dyes were subjected to prototypical batch adsorption process,including investigation of different parameters like Mg O dosage,dye concentration,solution pH,agitation speed and *** was found that,0.2 g of Mg O NPs showed maximum removal efficiency for both the dyes(more than 98%),having 25 ppm of dye concentration at an acidic p H(3–4).The maximum loading capacity of Mg O NPs was obtained to be 136 mg/g and 132 mg/g for CR and TB,*** thermodynamic parameters like△G^(0),△H^(0)and△S^(0)were *** negative△H^(0)and the positive△S^(0)values for both the dyes correspond to an exothermic process and an increase in randomness of the adsorbent and *** isotherm analysis exhibited that the Freundlich model fits better to the experimental equilibrium data,suggesting heterogeneous surface of the ***,the kinetic data revealed a pseudo 2 nd order rate for adsorption process.
