Erector Spinae Plane Block Combined with Serratus Anterior Plane Block Versus Thoracic Paravertebral Block for Postoperative Analgesia and Recovery After Thoracoscopic Surgery:A Randomized Controlled Non-inferiority Clinical Trial

Objective This study aimed to compare the postoperative analgesia and recovery of ultrasound-guided erector spinae plane block combined with serratus anterior plane block(ESPB combined with SAPB)versus thoracic paravertebral block(PVB)after thoracoscopic surgery.Methods Ninety-two patients who underwent video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery(VATS)were randomly divided into group S(n=46)and group P(n=46).After anesthesia induction,the same anesthesiologist performed ultrasound-guided ESPB at T5 and T7 levels combined with SAPB at the level of the fifth rib in the midaxillary line in group S and ultrasound-guided PVB at T5 and T7 levels in group P.Patients in both groups were given 40 mL of 0.4%ropivacaine.Eighty-six patients completed the study(group S,n=44;group P,n=42).The morphine consumption,visual analogue scale(VAS)scores at rest and coughing,and frequency of remedial analgesia were recorded at 1,2,4,8,and 24 h postoperatively.Pulmonary function parameters were recorded at 1,4,and 24 h postoperatively,and the quality of recovery(QoR)-15 score at 24 h postoperatively.The adverse effects,duration of chest tube drainage and length of stay were also recorded.Results The morphine consumption at postoperative 4 and 8 h and the incidence of ipsilateral shoulder pain(ISP)were significantly lower in group S than in group P.The QoR-15 questionnaire score at postoperative 24 h was significantly lower in group P than in group S(P<0.05).The morphine consumption was lower at 24 h postoperatively in group S than in group P,with no significant difference found yet.The morphine consumption at other observed times,VAS scores,pulmonary function parameters,frequency of remedial analgesia,duration of chest tube drainage,length of stay,and incidence of other adverse events were comparable between group S and group P.Conclusion Ultrasound-guided ESPB combined with SAPB is non-inferior to PVB in terms of morphine consumption at postoperative 24 h and postoperative recovery.But,this approach can significantly reduce morphine consumpti

We apply a Peak Shrinking and Interpolating(PSI)scheme to improve the Peak-to-Average Power Ratio(PAPR)performance in Multiple Intermediate-Frequency-over-Fiber(M-IFoF)based mobile fronthaul.The key idea is to detect the high peaks of the signal and shrink them,and then the shrunk peak values are interpolated into the original signal to reduce the PAPR.We also compare the PSI technique with the previous Tone-Reservation(TR)technique and Phase Pre-Distortion(PPD)technique in terms of PAPR reduction effect and computational complexity.The simulation results indicate that the PSI scheme can reduce the PAPR by more than 4.3 dB at 0.1%CCDF,which outperforms the two previous schemes with lower computational complexity.Furthermore,we find that altering M-IFoF system parameters has little effect on the performance of the PSI technique.

High-chromium vanadium-titanium magnetite(HCVTM)is a valuable resource containing metal elements such as iron,vanadium,titanium,and chromium.To recycle these elements,direct reduction is an efficient way.The mechanism and reaction kinetic parameters for the direct reduction of HCVTM were studied.Experimental results show that the reduction degree increases obviously when the C/O ratio and temperature increase.Thermodynamic analysis showed a dramatic mass loss in the direct reduction of HCVTM in the temperature range of 985-1160℃.From 1200 to 1350℃,the reduction curves for the isothermal reduction of HCVTM followed the same trend,with a sharp increase in the initial reaction zone and a slight increase in the reduction rate with increasing time,and finally,the isothermal reduction process of HCVTM was divided into several limiting stages with varying degrees,with inconsistent limiting factors for the reaction rate at different stages.The results also show that the activation energy decreases slightly at larger degrees of reduction.Also,the apparent rate constant k(T)increased with increasing reduction temperature,with lnk(T)showing a good linear relationship with temperature.

Seeking pure organic functional luminescent materials that are processed from green, low-cost, and sustainable resources remains a challenging but beneficial task. As an abundant natural polymer composed of crosslinked phenol ether units, lignin is a potential source of organic luminescent material because of the presence of extensive aromatic fragments. In the present work, a remarkable afterglow involving room-temperature phosphorescence(RTP) was achieved via simply embedding alkalized lignin into polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) matrix, and an ultralong luminescence lifetime of more than 160 ms was observed. More importantly, our study revealed that small fragments of hydrolyzed lignin(named LA-H) bearing extensive phenolic oxygen anions were the effective luminescent species. When embedded into a PVA matrix, LA-H showed remarkably high luminescence quantum yield and long lifetime of RTP emission compared with those of unprocessed lignin. Additionally, the various phenol oxygen anion moieties endowed LA-H with an excitation-dependent characteristic: the color-tunable RTP could be simply tuned from a maximum emission wavelength of 434–532 nm via altering the excitation wavelength. Thus, the color-tunable afterglow of emissive LA-H could be facilely obtained with a yield up to 38.4% using simple acid hydrolysis of lignin without other complex synthesis procedures. This work opens new avenues in the large-scale preparation of low-cost and sustainable pure organic RTP materials.

Biochar has been used increasingly as a soil additive to control mercury(Hg) pollution in paddy rice fields. As the most active component of soil organic matter, soil dissolved organic matter(DOM) plays a vital role in the environmental fate of contaminants. However, there are very few studies to determine the impact of biochar on the Hg cycle in rice paddies using insights from DOM. This study used original and modified biochar to investigate their effect on DOM dynamics and their potential impact on methylmercury(MeHg) production and bioaccumulation in rice plants. Porewater DOM was collected to analyze the variations in soil-derived DOM in paddy soils. The results showed that the addition of biochar, whether in original or modified form, significantly reduced the bioaccumulation of MeHg in rice plants, especially in hulls and grains( p < 0.05). However, MeHg production in soils was only inhibited by the modified biochar. Biochar addition induced a significant increase in DOM’s aromaticity and molecular weight( p < 0.05), which decreased Hg bioavailability. Furthermore, enhanced microbial activity was also observed in DOM( p < 0.05), further increasing MeHg production in the soil. Thus, the effect of biochar on the fate of Hg cycle involves competition between the two different roles of DOM. This study identified a specific mechanism by which biochar affects Hg behavior in rice paddy soil and contributes to understanding the more general influence of biochar in agriculture and contaminant remediation.

Coal fly ash is a typical secondary aluminum/silicon resource.The preparation of zeolite-type absorbent is a potential way for its value-added utilization,while the purity and adsorption property of zeolite are limited due to the occurrence of side reactions in the synthesis process.In this study,a designated composite consisted of crystalline zeolites and amorphous calcium silicate hydrate was selected,which was direct synthesized from fly ash under conditions of a Ca/Si molar ratio of 0.8,an initial NaOH concentration of 0.5 mol/L,a hydrothermal temperature of 170℃and a liquid–solid ratio of 15 mL/g.The results indicated that this composite had superior adsorption property for a variety of heavy metals,which was based on the exchange of calcium and sodium ions in zeolites and calcium silicate hydrate.Its adsorption capacities for Pb^(2+),Ni^(2+),Cd^(2+),Zn^(2+),Cu^(2+)and Cr^(3+)attained 409.4,222.4,147.5,93.2,101.1 and 157.0 mg/g,respectively,in single solution with a pH of 4.5.After regulating the synthesis conditions,the transformation of amorphous calcium silicate hydrate into crystallized tobermorite weakened the adsorption capacity of the composite.Besides,due to the competitive adsorption in a multiple ions solution,the adsorption capacities for these heavy metals had a reduction.

BACKGROUND Gastric cancer(GC)is one of the most prevalent malignant tumors that endangers human health.Early diagnosis is essential for improving the prognosis and survival rate of GC patients.Ring finger protein 180(RNF180)is involved in the regulation of cell differentiation,proliferation,apoptosis,and tumorigenesis,and aberrant hypermethylation of CpG islands in the promoter is strongly associated with the occurrence and development of GC.Thus,methylated RNF180 can be used as a potential biomarker for GC diagnosis.AIM To use droplet digital polymerase chain reaction(ddPCR)to quantify the methylation level of the RN180 gene.A reproducible ddPCR assay to detect methylated RNF180 from trace DNA was designed and optimized.METHODS The primer and probe were designed and selected,the conversion time of bisulfite was optimized,the ddPCR system was adjusted by primer concentration,amplification temperature and amplification cycles,and the detection limit of ddPCR was determined.RESULTS The best conversion time for blood DNA was 2 h 10 min,and that for plasma DNA was 2 h 10 min and 2 h 30 min.The results of ddPCR were better when the amplification temperature was 56°C and the number of amplification cycles was 50.Primer concentrations showed little effect on the assay outcome.Therefore,the primer concentration could be adjusted according to the reaction system and DNA input.The assay required at least 0.1 ng of input DNA.CONCLUSION In summary,a ddPCR assay was established to detect methylated RNF180,which is expected to be a new diagnostic biomarker for GC.

Minimizing Outage Probability Driven Wireless Backhaul Scheme in Heterogeneous Networks

Heterogeneous networks(Het Nets)attracts a lot of attention due to its high capacity and large coverage for future communication networks.However,with the large-scale deployment of small cells,HetNets bears dramatically increasing backhaul,which leads to a decrease of the outage performance.To improve the outage performance of Het Nets,we propose a wireless backhaul scheme for a two-layer HetNets,which automatically switches the three basic modes of orthogonal multiple access(OMA),nonorthogonal multiple access(NOMA)and cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access(CNOMA).First,we analyze the backhaul capacity and outage performance of these three basic modes.Then,we design the power allocation schemes based on minimizing outage probability for NOMA and CNOMA.Using the designed power allocation schemes,we propose a wireless backhaul scheme that switches the three modes according to the channel quality among different base stations(BSs).Moreover,the closed-form of the corresponding outage probability is derived.Compared with the three basic modes,the proposed wireless backhaul scheme can achieve the best outage performance and a higher backhaul capacity.Finally,all the analytical results are validated by simulations.
