We study theoretically the construction of topological conducting domain walls with a finite width between AB/BA stacking regions via finite element method in bilayer graphene systems with tunable commensurate twisting angles.We find that the smaller is the twisting angle,the more significant the lattice reconstruction would be,so that sharper domain boundaries declare their existence.We subsequently study the quantum transport properties of topological zero-line modes which can exist because of the said domain boundaries via Green’s function method and Landauer–Büttiker formalism,and find that in scattering regions with triintersectional conducting channels,topological zero-line modes both exhibit robust behavior exemplified as the saturated total transmission Gtot≈2e_(2)/h and obey a specific pseudospin-conserving current partition law among the branch transport channels.The former property is unaffected by Aharonov–Bohm effect due to a weak perpendicular magnetic field,but the latter is not.Results from our genuine bilayer hexagonal system suggest a twisting angle aroundθ≈0.1°for those properties to be expected,consistent with the existing experimental reports.

For centuries,researchers have been fascinated by how simple-minded arthropods pick up definite cues and locate a potential target in an instant.Contrary to the active echolocation of classical creatures,arthropods exhibit passive characteristics.They use spatially separated sensilla to cooperatively pinpoint target-generated signal sources such as sound,light,ground vibration,air disturbance,and thermal radiation.The paper introduces the localization mechanisms of typical terrestrial arthropods with diverse survival habits.Focusing on these special mechanisms,a series of theoretical models and advanced bionic equipment have been reviewed,and some key challenges and future directions are proposed.We believe that intensive study on arthropods can promote innovative development of miniaturized,low power-dissipation,and high-performance localization equipment,thereby enhancing and expanding current localization techniques.

Poria cocos(PC)is a famous traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)and a widely used healthcare ingredient,which has antiobesity,enhancing immunity and improving sleep effects.Traditionally,only water-soluble poria polysaccharide(WSP)is extracted and applied for clinical application,while insoluble polysaccharide(alkali-soluble poria polysaccharide,ASP)is discarded as herb residue.However,the whole PC has also been historically utilized as functional herbal food.Considering the beneficial role of dietary fiber and the traditional use of PC,ASP may also contribute substantially to the therapy function of PC.Compared to WSP,little attention has been paid to ASP and ASP modified product carboxymethyl poria polysaccharide(CMP)which has been used as an antitumor adjuvant drug.In this study,the oil,cholesterol,metal ions and polyphenols adsorption ability,in vitro simulated digestive and the gut microbiota fermentation characteristics of WSP,ASP and CMP were studied to evaluate the functional values of three P.cocos polysaccharides(PCPs).The results showed that all three PCPs had good adsorption capacity on cholesterol,polyphenols and metal ions(Cd^(2+)/Zn^(2+)/Mg^(2+)),among which ASP showed the highest capacity than WSP and CMP.The adsorption capacity of all three PCPs on heavy metal ions(Cd^(2+)/Zn^(2+))was stronger than that of non-heavy metal ions(Mg^(2+));The in vitro digestibility of all three PCPs was very low,but WSP was slightly higher than ASP and CMP;Moreover,the indigestible residue of all three PCPs could improve the richness and diversity of gut microbiota,among which ASP had the greatest influence.In general,ASP and CMP could significantly promote the proliferation of some probiotics and inhibit the growth of some harmful bacteria.The gut microbiota diversity of CMP was reduced,but the richness of probiotics,especially Parabacteroides distasonis was significantly enhanced compared with the ASP group,and the growth of harmful bacteria Klebsiella pneumoniae was inhibited after CMP treatment.The short-chain fatty

Transformation optics(TO)facilitates flexible designs of spatial modulation of optical materials via coordinate transformations,thus,enabling on-demand manipulations of electromagnetic waves.However,the application of TO theory in control of hyperbolic waves remains elusive due to the spatial metric signature transition from(+,+)to(−,+)of a two-dimensional hyperbolic geometry.Here,we proposed a distinct Pythagorean theorem,which leads to establishing an anisotropic Fermat’s principle.It helps to construct anisotropic geometries and is a powerful tool for manipulating hyperbolic waves at the nanoscale and polaritons.Making use of absolute instruments,the excellent collimating and focusing behaviors of naturally in-plane hyperbolic polaritons in van der Waals𝛼α–MoO_(3)layers are demonstrated,which opens up a new way for polaritons manipulation.

The remarkable uplift of the Tibetan Plateau in the Neogene had great impacts on the climate and environment of East Asia and even the world.Therefore,establishment of the Neogene stratigraphic framework of the Tibetan Plateau is of great significance to research in various fields of geosciences.Based on marine sediments,the international chronostratigraphic system of the Neogene is divided into six stages in the Miocene and two stages in the Pliocene.Since the beginning of the Cenozoic,the share of terrestrial strata on continents has increased rapidly.By the Neogene,it had far exceeded that of marine strata,and almost all deposits on the Tibetan Plateau and its surrounding areas were terrestrial strata.In China,the Miocene includes five stages and the Pliocene includes two stages.Except for the Tunggurian of the Miocene,which has a lower boundary at 15 Ma,the other stages have the same paleomagnetic definitions and time intervals as the corresponding international marine stages.Mammalian fossils play a very important role in the division and correlation of Cenozoic terrestrial strata,and rodent,carnivore,proboscidean,perissodactyl and artiodactyl fossils are especially important in Neogene terrestrial biostratigraphy.There are many basins with well-exposed strata and abundant mammalian fossils in the Tibetan Plateau.The lower boundary stratotype sections of the Neogene Xiejian and Bahean stages are located respectively in the Xining and Linxia basins,and there are precise paleomagnetic dates in coordination with mammalian fossils.The lower boundary stratotypes of other stages can also be effectively determined in the Tibetan Plateau.Many first appearing mammalian genera in East Asia also appeared in the Tibetan Plateau and its surrounding areas,especially in the Linxia Basin on the northeast margin and in the Siwaliks on the southwest margin.Among them,Prodeinotherium first appeared at the bottom of the Miocene in the Siwaliks,and the earliest Hipparion of the Old World first appeared at the bottom of the Bahea

Purpose – This study aims to reduce the redundant weight of the anti-roll torsion bar brought by thetraditional empirical design and improving its strength and stiffness.Design/methodology/approach – Based on the finite element approach coupled with the improved belugawhale optimization (IBWO) algorithm, a collaborative optimization method is suggested to optimize the designof the anti-roll torsion bar structure and weight. The dimensions and material properties of the torsion bar weredefined as random variables, and the torsion bar’s mass and strength were investigated using finite elements.Then, chaotic mapping and differential evolution (DE) operators are introduced to improve the beluga whaleoptimization (BWO) algorithm and run case studies.Findings – The findings demonstrate that the IBWO has superior solution set distribution uniformity,convergence speed, solution correctness and stability than the BWO. The IBWO algorithm is used to optimizethe anti-roll torsion bar design. The error between the optimization and finite element simulation results wasless than 1%. The weight of the optimized anti-roll torsion bar was lessened by 4%, the maximum stress wasreduced by 35% and the stiffness was increased by 1.9%.Originality/value – The study provides a methodological reference for the simulation optimization process ofthe lateral anti-roll torsion bar.

A new strategy to induce vesicle fusion has been developed by employing pillar[5]arene derivatives that were channel-like and were prepared by appending side chains onto pillar[5]arenes backbones.The channels feature with hydrophilic negatively and positively charged groups at both ends and hydrophobic Trp residues at the outer surface,which endows the channels with amphiphilicity.The zwitterionic amphiphilic channels could spontaneously incorporate into the bilayer membranes of lipid vesicles to induce vesicle fusion driven by the electrostatic interactions between negatively charged and positively charged groups.

Maize plant architecture influences planting density and,in turn,grain yield.Most of the plant architecture-related traits can be described as organ size.We describe a miniature maize mutant,Tiny plant 4(Tip4),which exhibits reduced size of multiple organs and exhibits a semi-dominant monofactorial inheritance characteristic.Positional cloning confirmed that a 4-bp deletion in the NAC TF with transmembrane motif 1-Like(NTL)gene ZmNTL2,denoted as ZmNTL2^(Δ),confers the Tip4 mutation.qRT-PCR showed that ZmNTL2 was expressed in all tested tissues.ZmNTL2 functions as a transcriptional activator and is located in both the nucleus and biomembranes.The mutation does not affect the mRNA abundance of ZmNTL2 locus,but it does result in the loss of transmembrane domain and confines the ZmNTL2^(Δ)protein to the nucleus.Knocking out ZmNTL2 has no effect on maize organ size development,indicating that the 4-bp deletion might be a gain-of-function mutation in organ size regulation.Combining transcriptome sequencing with cytokinin and auxin content determination suggests that the decreased organ size may be possibly mediated by changes in hormone homeostasis.

Chronic inflammation is known to increase the risk of gastrointestinal cancers(GICs),the common solid tumors worldwide.Precancerous lesions,such as chronic atrophic inflammation and ulcers,are related to inflammatory responses in vivo and likely to occur in hyperplasia and tumorigenesis.Unfortunately,due to the lack of effective therapeutic targets,the prognosis of patients with GICs is still unsatisfactory.Interestingly,it is found that six transmembrane epithelial antigens of the prostate(STEAPs),a group of metal reductases,are significantly associated with the progression of malignancies,playing a crucial role in systemic metabolic homeostasis and inflammatory responses.The structure and functions of STEAPs suggest that they are closely related to intracellular oxidative stress,responding to inflammatory reactions.Under the imbalance status of abnormal oxidative stress,STEAP members are involved in cell transformation and the development of GICs by inhibiting or activating inflammatory process.This review focuses on STEAPs in GICs along with exploring their potential molecular regulatory mechanisms,with an aim to provide a theoretical basis for diagnosis and treatment strategies for patients suffering from these types of cancers.
