Assessment of optic nerve and optic tract alterations in patients with orbital space-occupying lesions using probabilistic diffusion tractography

AIM: To investigate the diffusion changes in both the optic nerve and optic tract in orbital space-occupying lesion patients with decreased visual acuity, and its clinical significance using probabilistic diffusion tractography(PDT). METHODS: Twenty patients with orbital space-occupying lesions and 25 age-and gender-matched healthy persons were included. All patients and controls underwent routine orbital magnetic resonance imaging and diffusion tensor imaging(DTI), using a 3.0 T magnetic resonance scanner(Trio Tim Siemens). After the image data were preprocessed, each DTI parameters of the optic nerve and optic tract was obtained by PDT, including fractional anisotropy(FA), mean diffusivity(MD), axial diffusivity(AD) and radial diffusivity(RD). The asymmetry index(AI) of each parameter was calculated. Compared the parameters of the affected side optic nerve and ipsilateral optic tract with the contralateral side by paired sample t-test;compared AI of parameters of optic nerve and optic tract between the patient group and the control group by independent sample t-test. Patients were divided into threesubgroups according to the low vision grade standard of WHO, compared the FA and AI of FA between the three subgroups by single factor variance analysis. RESULTS: The affected side optic nerve presented significantly decreased FA, increased MD, AD, and RD values compared to the unaffected side(P0.05). The AIs of the FA value of the optic nerve in the eyesight <0.1 subgroup was significantly higher than that in the other groups(P<0.05). Modeling the Prevalence of Asymptomatic COVID-19 Infections in the Chinese Mainland

Recently,considerable efforts have been focused on intensifying the screening process for asymptomatic COVID-19 cases in the ChineseMainland,especially for up to 10 million citizens living in Wuhan City by nucleic acid ***,a high percentage of domestic asymptomatic cases did not develop into symptomatic ones,which is abnormal and has drawn considerable public ***,we aimed to investigate the prevalence of COVID-19 infections in the Chinese Mainland from a statistical perspective,as it is of referential significance for other *** conservatively assuming a development time lag from pre-symptomatic(i.e.,referring to the infected cases that were screened before the COVID-19 symptom onset)to symptomatic as an incubation time of 5.2 days,our results indicated that 92.5%of those tested in Wuhan City,China,and 95.1%of those tested in the Chinese Mainland should have COVID-19 syndrome onset,which was extremely higher than their corresponding practical percentages of 0.8%and 3.3%,*** propose that a certain false positive rate may exist if large-scale nucleic acid screening tests for asymptomatic cases are conducted in common communities with a low incidence *** adopting relatively high-sensitivity,high-specificity detection kits,we estimated a very low prevalence of COVID-19 infections,ranging from 106 to 104 in both Wuhan City and the Chinese ***,the prevalence rate of asymptomatic infections in China had been at a very low ***,given the lower prevalence of the infection,close examination of the data for false positive results is necessary to minimize social and economic impacts.

Security Service Technology for Mobile Networks

As mobile networks become high speed and attain an all-IP structure, more services are possible. This brings about many new security requirements that traditional security programs cannot handle. This paper analyzes security threats and the needs of 3G/4G mobile networks, and then proposes a novel protection scheme for them based on their whole structure. In this scheme, a trusted computing environment is constructed on the mobile terminal side by combining software validity verification with access control. At the security management center, security services such as validity verification and integrity check are provided to mobile terminals. In this way, terminals and the network as a whole are secured to a much greater extent. This paper also highlights problems to be addressed in future research and development.

Stress and noises of steel box girders in Sutong Bridge

Sutong Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge with a main span of 1 088 m. 370 high-precision stress monitoring measured data show that in the process of hoisting the steel box girders,the stress of the main girders is in the fluctuant and complex state and many meteorological factors,such as sunshine radiation,temperature and wind,have important influence on the change of stress of the steel box girders. According to the real-time weather data,the stress data after the process of wavelet denoising from representative measuring points in different weather conditions is picked to establish the stress response brought by meteorological factors with Layered Separation method,thereby basically eliminating the influence of meteorological factors on the stress of main girders,so that accurate and reliable stress data can be got for steel box girders adjustment and cable-tensioned construction control.

Protective Effects of Calpain Inhibition on Neurovascular Unit Injury through Downregulating Nuclear Factor-KB- related Inflammation during Traumatic Brain Injury in Mice

Background： In addition to neurons, all components of the neurovascular unit （NVU）, such as glial, endothelial, and basal membranes, are destroyed during traumatic brain injury （TBI）. Previous studies have shown that excessive stimulation ofcalpain is crucial for cerebral injury after traumatic insult. The objective of this study was to investigate whether calpain activation participated in NVU disruption and edema formation in a mouse model of controlled cortical impact （CCI）. Methods： One hundred and eight mice were divided into three groups： the sham group, the control group, and the MDL28170 group. MDL28170 （20 mg/kg）, an efficient calpain inhibitor, was administered intraperitoneally at 5 rain, 3 h, and 6 h after experimental CCI. We then measured neurobehavioral deficits, calpain activity, inflammatory mediator levels, blood-brain barrier （BBB） disruption, and NVU deficits using electron microscopy and histopathological analysis at 6 h and 24 h after CCI. Results： The MDL28170 treatment significantly reduced the extent of both cerebral contusion （MDL28170 vs. vehicle group, 16.90 ± 1.01 mm3 and 17.20±1.17 mm3 vs. 9.30 ± 1.05 mm^3 and 9.90 ± 1.17 mm3, both P 〈 0.001 ） and edema （M DL28170 vs. vehicle group, 80.76 ± 1.25% and 82.00 ± 1.84% vs. 82.55 ± 1.32% and 83.64 ± 1.25%, both P 〈 0.05）, improved neurological scores （MDL28170 vs. vehicle group, 7.50 ±0.45 and 6.33 ±0.38 vs. 12.33 ± 0.48 and 11.67±0.48, both P 〈 0.001）, and attenuated NVU damage resulting （including tight junction （TJ）, basement membrane, BBB, and neuron） from CCI at 6 h and 24 h. The role of CXCL chemokine family in the development and prognosis of colorectal cancer

Objective:Colorectal cancer(CRC)is a major cause of cancer-related deaths *** class of chemokines known as cysteine-x-cysteine(CXC)motif ligands(CXCL)is thought to have a significant role in inflammation.A previous study implicated that CXCL family may play a role in angiogenesis and tumor *** this comprehensive study,16 CXCLs in CRC will be analyzed for their prognostic values and expression ***:To investigate CXCLs expression,immune cell infiltration,prognostic value significance,and genetic alteration among CRC patients,Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis 2(GEPIA2),Kaplan-Meier plotter(K-M plotter),Gene Set Cancer Analysis(GSCA),STRING,GeneMANIA,and Sangerbox3.0 were ***:As a result of our study,there was a significant increase in the levels of CXCL1/2/3/4/5/8/9/10/11/13/14/16 in CRC tissues,whereas CXCL12 was *** expression of CXCL1/2/3/9/10/11 in CRC was linked to tumor *** expression of CXCL2/3/14 was associated with longer overall survival(OS)in colon adenocarcinoma(COAD)patients,and the overexpression of CXCL2/6/9/11/13 was related to long OS in rectum adenocarcinoma(READ)***,patients with CRC who expressed high levels of CXCL9/10/11 tended to have a longer disease-free survival(DFS).Furthermore,the functions of differentially expressed CXCLs were mainly involved in cytokine activity and chemokine effects.A significant correlation has been found between CXCLs expression and the infiltration of diverse immune cells in COAD and READ,including six types of CD4+T cells,macrophages,neutrophils,B cells,CD8+T cells,and dendritic ***:According to our study,CXCLs may not only serve as prognostic markers for CRC patients but also affect the immune status of CRC tissues,thereby providing new ideas for immunotherapy.
