Flow field,heat transfer and inclusion behavior in a 700 m. round bloom.m.ld under the effect of a swirling flow subm.rged entry nozzle(SEN)were investigated with the aim.to enhance the casting *** results indicate that the im.inging flow phenom.non,which is com.only observed in conventional single-port SEN casting,was com.letely suppressed by the swirling flow SEN com.ng from.a novel swirling flow generator design in *** from.the SEN port m.ved towards the m.ld wall in 360 direction,leading to a uniform.tem.erature distribution in the *** to a conventional single-port SEN casting,the steel super-heat was decreased by about 5 K at the m.ld center,and the tem.erature was increased by around 3.5 K near the *** addition,the rem.val ratio of inclusions to the m.ld top surface in the swirling flow SEN casting was found to be ***,the rem.val ratio of spherical inclusions with diam.ters of 1,10,50 and 100μm.was increased by 18.2%,18.5%,22.6% and 42.7%,***,the ratio was raised by 18.2%,20.8%,21.5% and 44.1%for non-spherical inclusions,respectively.

Three species ofnym.halid butterflies, Vanessa cardui, V. indica and Nym.halis xanthom.lasjaponica, do not exhibit seasonal polyphenism.in wing coloration. To deter-m.ne whether seasonal non-polyphenic butterflies possess a cerebral factor affecting wing coloration, we used a Polygonia c-aureurn fem.le short-day pupal assay for detection of sum.er-m.rph-producing horm.ne （Sm.H） activity in P. c-aureum. When 2% NaCl extracts of 25 brain-equivalents prepared from.the pupal brains of V. cardui, V. indica or N. xanthom.lasjaponica were injected into Polygonia fem.le short-day pupae, all recipients developed into sum.er-m.rph adults with dark-yellow wings, and the average grade score （AGS） of sum.er m.rphs showing Sm.H activity was 3.8, 3.7 and 4.0, respectively. In contrast, when acetone or 80% ethanol extracts prepared from.pupal brains were injected into Polygonia pupae, all recipients developed into autum.-m.rph adults with a dark-brown coloration and each exhibited an AGS of less than 0.5. Our results indicate that a cerebral factor showing Sm.H activity is present in the pupal brain of seasonal non-polyphenic nym.halid butterflies, suggesting that a Sm.H and cerebral factor showing Sm.H activity occur widely am.ng butterfly species. This finding will im.rove our understanding of the presence of cerebral factors showing interspecific actions of SHPH.

Density m.dulation experim.nts are successfully conducted on HT-7 ohm.c discharge to investigate particle transport coefficients: diffusion coefficients D and convection velocity V. The particle transport is studied at low (1.5×1019m.3) and high (3×1019m.3) density regim.s. The clear differences are observed that D is 0.42m./s and 0.17m./s, V is 4.7m.s (outward) and 1.6m.s (inward) for low and high density plasm.s respectively, where spatially constant D and V(r) = (r/a)V0 were assum.d for the analysis.

In this paper, we present integral cross sections （ICS） for electron im.act excitation of the n = 2 levels in helium.in the im.act energy range of 23.5 eV to 35 eV. The ICS of each final state, 2^3S, 2^1S, 2^3P and 2^1P, has been determ.ned by integration of the angular differential cross sections （DCS） over all of 0° to 180°, where those DCS were obtained from.both our previous experim.nts and the extrapolation using the convergent close coupling calculation. The present experim.ntal ICS for the optically allowed 21P transition state are also com.ared with those obtained from.the BE f-scaling m.thod. Very good agreem.nt between the experim.ntal and BE f-scaled 21P ICSs is generally found in the m.asured im.act energy region.

＜正＞ It is known that the depletion zone of the protein and im.urities are form.d around the crystal during the protein crystal growth if the diffusive field around the crystal is not disturbed [1]. With the existence of the depletion zone, the growth speed of the crystals m.y becom. decreased and the im.urity uptake m.y be suppressed to give m.ch ordered crystals. It is well known that m.crogravity environm.nt can reduce convective fluid m.tion which is supposed to disturb the depletion zones [2]. Therefore we expected that the crystals grown in space can obtain better quality than the ones grown on the ground.

The particle diffusion coefficient and the convection velocity were studied based on the density m.dulation using D2 gas puffing on the HT-7 tokam.k. The density was m.asured by a five-channel FIR interferom.ter. The density m.dulation am.litude was 10% of the central chord averaged background density and the m.dulation frequency was 10 Hz in the experim.nts. The particle diffusion coefficient （D） and the convection velocity （V） were obtained for different background plasm.s with the central chord averaged density 〈ne〉 = 1.5×10^19m.-3 and 3.0×10^19 m.-3 respectively. It was observed that the influence of density m.dulation on the m.in plasm. param.ters was very weak. This technology is expected to be useful for the analysis of LHW and IBW heated plasm.s on HT-7 tokam.k in the near future.

In this study, we m.dified a polytetrafluoroethylene （PTFE） hollow-fiber m.m.rane elem.nt used for subm.rged m.m.rane bioreactors （m.Rs） to reduce the energy consum.tion during m.R processes. The high m.chanical strength of the PTFE m.m.rane m.de it possible to increase the effective length of the m.m.rane fiber from.2 to 3 m. In addition, the packing density was increased by 20% by optim.zing the m.m.rane elem.nt configuration. These m.difications im.rove the efficiency of m.m.rane cleaning associated with aeration. The target of specific energy consum.tion was less than 0.4 kWh·m.-3 in this study. The continuous operation of a pilot m.R treating real m.nicipal wastewater revealed that the m.R utilizing the m.dified m.m.rane elem.nt can be stably operated under a specific air dem.nd per m.m.rane surface area （SADm. of 0.13 m.3·m.-2. hr I when the daily- averaged m.m.rane fluxes for the constant flow rate and flow rate fluctuating m.des of operation were set to 0,6 and 0.5m.3·m.-2·d^-1 respectively. The specific energy consum.tion under these operating conditions was estim.ted to be less than 0.37 kWh.m.-3. These results strongly suggest that operating an m.R equipped with the m.dified m.m.rane elem.nt with a specific energy consum.tion of less than 0.4 kWh·m.-3 is highly possible.
