Novel association between sperm deformity index and oxidative stress-induced DNA damage in infertile male patients

Aim:To investigate the impact of abnormal sperm morphology using the sperm deformity index (SDI) on reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and its correlation with sperm DNA ***:Semen samples were collected from men undergoing infertility screening (n=7) and healthy donors (n=6).mature spermatozoa were isolated and incubated with 5 mmol/L β-nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) for up to 24 h to induce *** morphology was evaluated using strict Tygerberg's criteria and the *** levels and DNA damage were assessed using chemiluminescence and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated fluorescein- dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) assays,***:SDI values (median [interquartiles]) were higher in patients than donors (2 [1.8,2.1] vs.1.53 [1.52,1.58],P=0.008).Aliquots treated with NADPH showed higher ROS levels (1.22 [0.30,1.87] vs.0.39 [0.10,0.57],P=0.03) and higher incidence of DNA damage than those not treated (10 [4.69,24.85] vs.3.85 [2.58,5.10],P=0.008).Higher DNA damage was also seen following 24 h of incubation in patients compared to *** correlated with the percentage increase in sperm DNA damage following incubation for 24 h in samples treated with NADPH (r=0.7,P=0.008) and controls (r=0.58,P=0.04). Conclusion:SDI may be a useful tool in identifying potential infertile males with abnormal prevalence of oxidative stress (OS)-induced DNA *** plays a role in ROS-mediated sperm DNA damage,which appears to be more evident in infertile patients with semen samples containing a high incidence of morphologically abnormal spermatozoa.

A survey of RDF data management systems

RDF is increasingly being used to encode data for the semantic web and data exchange. There have been a large number of works that address RDF data manage- ment following different approaches. In this paper we pro- vide an overview of these works. This review considers cen- tralized solutions （what are referred to as warehousing ap- proaches）, distributed solutions, and the techniques that have been developed for querying linked data. In each category, further classifications are provided that would assist readers in understanding the identifying characteristics of different approaches.

In vitro digestibility of Aucklandia costus-loaded nanophytosomes and their use in yoghurt as a food model

This work achieved the encapsulation of valuable bioactive substances from Aucklandia costus(AC)in nanophytosomes as a new phytoconstituent delivery *** fluid extraction(SFE)and solvent-maceration methods were used to extract oil and phenolics from AC,*** physicochemical characterization of SFE-oil and phenolic extract(PE)-High-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)and Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry(GC-mS)were used to identify and quantify all compounds extracted from AC using both extraction *** nanophytosomes was studied using dynamic light scattering(DLS),encapsulation efficiency(EE),and transmission electron microscopy(TEm).The in vitro digestibility of SFE-oil and PE-loaded nanophytosomes after in vitro digestion was *** was selected as a food model for fortification with AC-loaded nanophytosomes at different concentrations(5%,10%,and 15%).pH,acidity,water holding capacity(WHC),and viscosity were evaluated in all yoghurt samples during storage,while color analysis and sensory evaluation were evaluated at 0 *** SFE-oil-and PE-loaded nanophytosomes showed promising results,and the bioavailability suggested that nanoencapsulation provided a controlled release of the phenolic and flavonoid ***,the addition of AC-loaded nanophytosomes into yoghurt resulted in increases in the viscosity(16.53 Pa s-1)and decreases in WHC(59.50%).Yoghurts with AC-loaded nanophytosomes were more stable than the control(yoghurt without nanophytosomes).Overall,the current findings indicated that AC-loaded nanophytosomes would be a preferable candidate for incorporation into yoghurt to improve its *** research might provide scientific evidence supporting AC-loaded nanophytosomes as possible fortifying elements in manufacturing functional yoghurt and a new vision for designing unique dairy products with functional qualities.

This work presents a novel approach combining radial basis function(RBF)interpolation with Galerkin projection to efficiently solve general optimal control *** goal is to develop a highly flexible solution to optimal control problems,especially nonsmooth problems involving discontinuities,while accounting for trajectory accuracy and computational efficiency *** proposed solution,called the RBF-Galerkin method,offers a highly flexible framework for direct transcription by using any interpolant functions from the broad class of global RBFs and any arbitrary discretization points that do not necessarily need to be on a mesh of *** RBF-Galerkin costate mapping theorem is developed that describes an exact equivalency between the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker(KKT)conditions of the nonlinear programming problem resulted from the RBF-Galerkin method and the discretized form of the first-order necessary conditions of the optimal control problem,if a set of discrete conditions *** efficacy of the proposed method along with the accuracy of the RBF-Galerkin costate mapping theorem is confirmed against an analytical solution for a bang-bang optimal control *** addition,the proposed approach is compared against both local and global polynomial methods for a robot motion planning problem to verify its accuracy and computational efficiency.

We obtain the structure of the rings in which every element is either a sum or a difference of a nilpotent and an idempotent that commute. This extends the structure theorems of a commutative weakly nil-clean ring, of an abelian weakly nil-clean ring, and of a strongly nil-clean ring. As applications, this result is used to determine the 2-primal rings R such that the matrix ring mn（R） is weakly nil-clean, and to show that the endomorphism ring EndD（V） over a vector space VD is weakly nil-clean if and only if it is nil-clean or dim（V） = 1 with D Z3.

The formula for the analytical calculations of the shaped charge jetting parameters exhibit an explicit dependence upon the Gurney velocity of an explosive *** attempts have been done to approximate the characteristic constant 2E^(1/2) and to make its use more *** is shown herein that the characteristic Gurney velocity parameter depends on the ratio of the Chapman Jouguet-pressure to explosive impulse ratio by the formula:2E^(1/2)=0.2415(P_(CJ)/I_(SP)ρ_0)-970.76,where PCJis the Chapman Jouguet pressure(Pa),ISPis the specific impulse of the explosive used as a monopropellant(N·s/kg)andρois the explosive density(kg/m^3).The proposed empirical formula was found to be reasonable and quite accurate approximation that can be implemented over a wide range of explosives,where the maximum deviation between the measured and the calculated Gurney velocities was nearly 6%.Besides,the proposed approach has been used analytically to calculate the jet tip velocity of a small caliber shaped charge,which is measured *** difference between the measured and the calculated jet tip velocity was only 1.6%.

Study of Thermal Reactivity and Kinetics of HmX and Its PBX by Different methods

Vacuum Stability Test(VST)was used to determine the thermal behavior and kinetic parameters of 1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocine(HmX)and its mixture with hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene(HTPB)as a binder coded as HmX/*** fitting and isoconversional method were applied to determine the kinetic parameters based on VST *** comparison,non-isothermal thermogravimetry analysis data(TGA)was also used to calculate the kinetic parameters by using Kissinger,OFW(Ozawa,Flynn,and Wall)and KAS(Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose)*** Kinetics and Technology Solution(AKTS)software was also used to determine the decomposition kinetics of the studied *** Scanning Calorimetry(DSC)was employed to determine the decomposition heat flow properties of the studied *** show that the activation energies obtained using VST results is 360.1kJ/mol for pure HmX and 186.9kJ/mol for HmX/*** activation energies obtained by the three different methods using TGA results are in the range of 360-368kJ/mol for pure HmX and 190-206kJ/mol for HmX/*** is concluded that values of kinetic parameters obtained by VST are close to that obtained by the different techniques using TG/DTG *** onset decomposition peak of HmX/HTPB is lower than that of HmX where the HTPB binder has negative effect on the thermal stability of *** results of all the applied techniques prove that HmX/HTPB has lower activation energy and heat release than the pure *** polymeric matrix has negative effect on the kinetic parameters of HmX.
