Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a disabling disease that can af.ect 6% to 12% of.the adult population and more than a third of.people over 65 years of.age. Purpose: To assess whether a group of.people with hand osteoarthritis (hOA) who received dif.erent types of.treatment improved their f.nction af.er two years of.f.llow-up. Method: The entire sample (n = 97) underwent three f.llow-up assessments regarding anthropometric parameters of.the upper limbs and ability to perf.rm f.nctional activities. Subsequently, the sample was divided into two groups f.r the intervention periods, called the f.rst Period (n = 73) and the Second Period (n = 24);the f.rst Period kept the same protocol with orientations, and the Second Period went to an intervention with orientation strength exercises and use of.orthosis. f.ndings: In the separate analysis of.the three questions of.the DASH pain module, no dif.erences were f.und between the assessment moments f.r groups of.guidelines, treatment, or symptoms. Signif.cant ef.ects were observed f.r f.2, 162) = 3.5, p = 0.033, η2 = 0.04, and interaction f.r moments and intervention f.2, 162) = 4.3, p = 0.016, η2 = 0.05. Implications: It can be concluded that only guidance treatment does not benef.t patients with hand osteoarthritis. In contrast, guidance, exercise, and orthosis treatment can signif.cantly improve the disease.

In developing Artif.cial Neural Networks(ANNs),the available dataset is split into three categories:training,validation and ***,an important problem arises:How to trust the predic-tion provided by a particular ANN?Due to the randomness related to the network itself.architecture,initialization and learning procedure),there is usually no best *** this issue,we provide a f.amework,which captures the randomness related to the network *** idea is to perf.rm several training and test trials based on the Jackknif. resampling *** consists of.iteratively deleting a single observation each time f.om the sample and recomputing the ANN on the rest of.the sample ***,interval prediction is available instead of.point *** proposed method was applied and tested using pH,Ca and P data obtained by analyzing 118 georef.renced soil *** results,based on the dataset size simulation,showed that 60%reduction in available dataset of.ers compatible accuracy in relation to f.ll dataset,and theref.re a higher cost of.sampling in the f.eld would not be *** re-sampling method spatially characterizes the points of.greater or lesser accuracy and *** re-sampling method increased the success rate by using interval prediction instead of.using the mean as the most probable *** we restrict it to the regression neural network model,the resampling method proposed can also be extended to other modern statistical tools,such as Kriging,Least Squares Collocation(LSC),Convolutional Neural Network(CNN),and so on.

This experiment was carried out in acclimatized greenhouses with seedlings of.two hybrid clones of.Eucalyptus urophylla×Eucalyptus grandis. A sunscreen protector consisting of.62.5% calcium carbonate was sprayed on the seedlings at weekly intervals. Water stress was induced by suspending irrigation until the soil reached 30% available water and water was then replaced so that it returned to f.eld capacity. Gas exchange and leaf.water status were measured af.er 50 days. The experiment was set up in a 4×2 f.ctorial randomized block design in f.ur distinct environments:(1) temperatures less than 21.2℃ and vapor pressure def.cit of.0.15 kPa;(2) intermediate temperatures of.24.2℃ and vapor pressure def.cit of.0.69 kPa;(3) high temperatures of.27.0℃ and high vapor pressure def.cit of.1.4 kPa; and,(4) high temperature of.27.0℃ and vapor pressure def.cit below 1.10 kPa. Two leaf.sun protector treatments were used, with f.ve replications each. High atmospheric demand acted as a stress f.ctor f.r the seedlings during the initial growth *** of.leaf.sunscreen protector provided benef.cial ef.ects in maintaining optimum water status and gas exchanges of.the plants under water stress.

Insomnia is a common sleep disorder among older adults,and a risk f.ctor f.r poor physical and mental ***,the relationship between insomnia and cognitive health is not well ***,we review observational studies that have investigated whether insomnia is associated with def.cits in objective cognitive perf.rmance and an increased risk of.dementia,magnetic resonance imaging studies that have assessed grey matter volumes and white matter microstructure,and interventional studies that have explored whether the treatment of.insomnia can improve cognitive *** are inconsistent f.ndings regarding impaired perf.rmance in objective cognitive tests and reduced grey matter volumes,and limited,emerging,evidence that suggests that insomnia is associated with an increased risk of.dementia and reduced white matter *** the interventional literature is still in its inf.ncy,there is some indication that treatment may have an impact on ***-powered studies examining sources of.heterogeneity are warranted.

Sodium erythorbate, antioxidant and curing accelerator, used in meat products, have no vitamin f.nctionality. Ascorbic acid （AA）, in contrast, is a powerf.l antioxidant, but very unstable. The application of.encapsulated AA in f.ankf.rters could allow the incorporation of.an antioxidant with vitamin f.nctionality and improved stability. The aim of.this study was to evaluate the application of.A microcapsules in f.ankf.rters and the ef.ects of.their application on the product. Dif.erent analyses were conducted. The values obtained f.r mass loss, moisture content, water activity, pH and instrumental color were not signif.cantly dif.erent among the treatments. The f.ankf.rters containing the microcapsutes exhibited the lowest hardness value （approximately 5,000 g）, resulting in better scores in the sensory analysis. It was possible to apply the AA microcapsules without compromising the oxidative stability and physicochemical characteristics of.the product, providing a promising method f.r protecting AA and producing f.rtif.ed f.ankf.rters.

Ecophysiological acclimatization to cyclic water stress in Eucalyptus

Drought is considered the main environmental f.ctor limiting productivity in eucalyptus plantations in Brazil. However, recent studies have reported that exposure to water def.cit conditions enables plants to respond to subsequent stresses. Thus, this study investigates the ecophysiological acclimatization of.eucalyptus clones submitted to recurrent water def.cit cycles. Eucalyptus seedlings were submitted to three recurrent water def.cit cycles and anatomical, morphological and physiological changes were analyzed. The results were:(1) Eucalyptus seedlings responded to water def.cits by directing carbohydrates to root and stem growth;(2) Size and number of.stomata were reduced;(3) Stomatal conductance decreased which allowed the plants to reduce water losses through transpiration,increasing instantaneous water use ef.iciency;(4) The relationship between gas exchanges and available water contents allowed the seedlings to uptake the retained soil water athigher tensions;and,(5) Physiological recovery f.om subsequent water def.cits became f.ster. As a result of.these changes, the eucalyptus seedlings recovered f.om the same degree of.water stress more rapidly.
