Unexpected/contrary behavior of aerosol mass concentration in response to the individual components'concentration reduction in Kitakyushu,Japan

In the suburbs of Kitakyushu,Japan,the inorganic aerosol mass concentration(IAM)was about 32.7μg/m^(3),with the aerosol pH of *** study the thermodynamics of aerosol when its individual components'concentration is reduced,sensitive tests were performed using the ISORROPIAⅡmodel,in which the seven control species—TNaCl,TNH_(4)^(+),TSO_(4)^(2-),TNO_(3)^(-),TMg^(2+),TK^(+),and TCa^(2+)—were taken into *** and inorganic aerosol pH after reducing TNaCl,TNO_(3)^(-),TMg^(2+),TK^(+),and TCa^(2+)responded linearly(0%≤concentration reduction ratio(CRR)≤100%,with the exception of 100%in TNaCl);the nonlinear variations of these two parameters could be observed by controlling TNH_(4)^(+)and TSO_(4)^(2-).Unexpected aerosol behavior occurred at 100%reduction of TNaCl,which was caused by the sudden increase of NO_(3)^(-),NH_(4)^(+),and aerosol liquid water content(ALWC);the increase of IAM was also observed after controlling TSO_(4)^(2-)(60%≤CRR≤100%)and TCa^(2+)(0%≤CRR≤100%),which was mainly related to the variation of ALWC driven by the response of CaSO_(4).Multiple regression analysis showed that ALWC was statistically and strongly related to the variations of NO_(3)^(-),Cl-,SO_(4)^(2-),HSO_(4)^(-),HNO_(3),and NH_(3)(P<0.05),with regression coefficients of 1.68,5.23,1.83,2.81,0.34,and 0.57,*** highest coefficient(5.23)was found for Cl^(-),revealing that sea salts significantly influenced particle ***,this study comprehensively investigated aerosol characteristics and inner responses for the reduction of components,which is of great significance for a better understanding of atmospheric chemistry in Kitakyushu,Japan.

PMSSC:Parallelizable multi-subset based self-expressive model for subspace clustering

Subspace clustering methods which embrace a self-expressive model that represents each data point as a linear combination of other data points in the dataset provide powerful unsupervised learning ***,when dealing with large datasets,representation of each data point by referring to all data points via a dictionary suffers from high computational *** alleviate this issue,we introduce a parallelizable multi-subset based self-expressive model(PMS)which represents each data point by combining multiple subsets,with each consisting of only a small proportion of the *** adoption of PMS in subspace clustering(PMSSC)leads to computational advantages because the optimization problems decomposed over each subset are small,and can be solved efficiently in ***,PMSSC is able to combine multiple self-expressive coefficient vectors obtained from subsets,which contributes to an improvement in *** experiments on synthetic and real-world datasets show the efficiency and effectiveness of our approach in comparison to other methods.

Computer Simulation of Microscopic Stress Distribution in Complex Microstructure Using a Phase Field Model

Microscopic stress distribution in a metallic material which has complex microstructure is simulated using a phase field *** fundamental equations which take into account the coupling effects among phase transformation,temperature and stress/strain are used,while thermal effects are neglected to focus on the volumetric change due to phase transformation in this paper.A two-dimensional square region is considered,and the evolution of microscopic stress and the resultant residual stress distribution are calculated using the finite element *** the phase transformation progresses and grains grow larger,stress is generated around the growing *** a grain collides with another one,specifically large stress is *** stress is finally distributed in the microstructure formed,and apparently large stresses are retained along the grain boundaries. Subsequently,dependency of the stress distribution on microstructure pattern is ***,variously sized square grains are tested,and it reveals that the maximum stress tends to decrease as the grain size becomes ***,the shapes of the grains are *** a result,the stress distribution is remarkably affected,while the maximum stress value does not change so *** complicated grain arrangement is finally tested with eight or nine grain ***,it is revealed as a common feature that large stress is generated along the grain boundaries and that the stress distribution is dependent on the grain arrangement.

Chemical Interpretation on the Multi-Stage Oxidation of Diethyl Ether

Multi-stage ignition and/or double NTC(negative temperature coefficient)behavior resulted from the low-temperature oxidation of ether compounds are still not clearly *** have investigated the oxidation mechanism of a stoichiometric DEE(diethyl ether)/air mixture by using a micro flow reactor with a controlled temperature profile to see the detail of low-temperature weak flame *** simulation was also performed to understand the chemical kinetics mechanism of observed weak flame *** measurement showed separated weak flame in the temperature range of 600 K-800 *** simulation also qualitatively reproduced this separated weak flame,and showed four peak of heat *** the reaction flow analysis,it was found that(1)O-O bond scission reaction of keto-hydroperoxide produced by DEE,(2)O-O bond scission reaction of CH3O2H,CH3CO3H,and C2H5O2H,(3)O-O bond scission reaction of H2O2,and(4)H+O2=O+OH are key chain branching reactions to explain the multi-stage oxidation.

Hydro-mechanical-electrical simulations of synthetic faults in two orthogonal directions with shear-induced anisotropy

Fluid flow in fractures controls subsurface heat and mass transport,which is essential for developing enhanced geothermal systems and radioactive waste *** permeability is controlled by fracture microstructure(***,roughness,and tortuosity),but in situ values and their anisotropy have not yet been *** advances in geophysical techniques allow the detection of changes in electrical conductivity due to changes in crustal stress and these techniques can be used to predict subsurface fluid ***,the paucity of data on fractured rocks hinders the quantitative interpretation of geophysical monitoring data in the ***,considering different shear displacements and chemical erosions,an investigation was conducted into the hydraulic-electric relationship as an elevated stress change in *** simulation of fracture flows was achieved using the lattice Boltzmann method,while the electrical properties were calculated through the finite element method,based on synthetic faults incorporating elastic-plastic *** results show that the hydraulic and electrical properties depend on the rock's geometric properties(*** length,roughness,and shear displacement).The permeability anisotropy in the direction parallel or perpendicular to the shear displacement is also notable in high stress ***,the permeability econductivity(i.e.,formation factor)relationship is unique under all conditions and follows a linear trend in logarithmic ***,both matrix porosity and fracture spacing alter this *** increase the slope of the linear trend,thereby changing the sensitivity of electrical observations to permeability changes.

A simple and novel effective strategy using mechanical treatment to improve the oxygen uptake/release rate of YBaCo_(4)O_(7+δ) for thermochemical cycles

In recent years,oxygen storage materials(OSMs)have been widely used in many *** would be particularly important for researchers to design high-oxygen-uptake/release-rate *** this study,various synthesis processes were used to successfully synthesize YBaCo_(4)O_(7+δ)and comprehensively investigate their potential *** red with traditional solid-state reaction method and co-precipitation method,the results demonstrated that the utilization of mechanical ball milling treatment on co-precipitated precursors could lead to samples with reversible oxygen uptake/release under an oxidative atmosphere at low *** resultant materials exhibited fast oxygen absorption/desorption rate that could uptake/release oxygen directly to the equilibrium state within 9 min and20 min,*** mechanochemically ball-milled sample possessed outstanding oxygen sto rage performance,which could be attributed to their small particle size,the active outer surface of particles,large specific surface area,and relatively low activation ***,the ball-milled sample also exhibited excellent cycling stability during relatively short time *** results also demonstrated that the ball-milled samples could reversibly uptake/release 2.90 wt.%of excess oxygen(while only 0.70 wt.%for solid-state samples)by adjusting the ambient temperature under pure O_(2) atmosphere,which would make them promising candidates in various *** research demonstrated that mechanical treatment could be an effective strategy to tune the properties and oxygen storage capacity(OSC)performances of YBaCo_(4)O_(7+δ).

Water solubility in orthopyroxene: Dependence on temperature and Al content

The water solubility in Al-Fe-Mg orthopyroxene[(Mg,Fe,Al)(Si,Al)O3:XFe=0.1]was investigated as a function of temperature and Al *** were performed at 10 kbar with temperatures ranging from 800 to 1200°C under water-saturated *** contents in the(Mg,Fe)SiO3–H2O–Al2O3system were determined using unpolarized Fourier transform infrared *** present results show that water solubility in Al-bearing orthopyroxene decreases systematically with temperature from approximately 1 weight%at 800°C to 568±58 ppm at 1200°C and increase significantly with increasing Al2O3contents under the same annealing temperature and *** with published results on the dependence of hydroxyl solubility on water fugacity and pressure,the present results can be described by the relation20.5OH H O()exp nC A T f1bar solid,R H V P T where A=0.0024±0.0015 ppm/bar0.5,1bar H=103.348±9.768 kJ/mol,andsolid V=9.2±1.1cm3/*** equation implies that the incorporation mechanism of water in aluminous orthopyroxene involves the isolated OH *** on the experimentally established solubility model used in this study,it is suggested that water solubility decreases with increasing temperature under typical upper mantle *** predicted temperature dependence of water solubility is in good agreement with the previous experimental observations in Al-bearing orthopyroxene,but the opposite dependence is observed in Al-free ***,our estimation of the water solubility in upper-mantle minerals as a function of depth for a typical oceanic geotherm might be of potential importance in interpreting the geophysical observations.

Atomic force microscopy imaging of dialyzed single-walled carbon nanotubes dispersed with sodium dodecyl sulfate

The existence of excess sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS)molecules in a single-walled carbon nanotube(SWNT)solution dispersed by hybridization with SDS leads to unstable atomic force microscopy(AFM)*** this study,we demonstrate sequential dialysis against pure water in order to remove excess SDS molecules from an SDS-SWNT hybrid dispersion.A 1:102 volume ratio of SDS-SWNT dispersion to water in the dialysis was found to be effective in realizing stable AFM observations of the SDS-SWNT hybrids despite imperfect filtering of SDS via *** the other hand,the SDS-SWNT hybrids were stable even when this volume ratio was 1:***,the SDS-SWNT hybrids were present in the solution even when the dialyzed samples were stored for 14 *** results reveal that dialysis under optimal conditions enables improved handling of SDS-SWNT hybrids,particularly for stable AFM observations.

Evaluation of dielectric and piezoelectric behavior of unpoled and poled barium titanate polycrystals with oxygen vacancies using phase field method

This article studies the dielectric and piezoelectric behavior of unpoled and poled barium titanate(BaTiO_(3))polycrystals with oxygen vacancies.A phase field model is employed for BaTiO_(3) polycrystals,coupled with the time-dependent Ginzburg–Landau theory and the oxygen vacancies diffusion,to demonstrate the interaction between oxygen vacancies and domain *** generate grain structures,the phase field model for grain growth is also *** hysteresis loop and butterfly curve are predicted at room and high *** permittivity,and longitudinal and transverse piezoelectric constants of the BaTiO_(3) polycrystals are then examined for various grain sizes and oxygen vacancy densities.
