Physical multimorbidity patterns and depressive symptoms:a nationwide cross-sectional study in Japan

Objective The associations of physical multimorbidity with depressive symptoms have been investigated in a number of ***,whether patterns of chronic physical conditions have comparatively different associations with depressive symptoms remains *** study aimed to investigate the associations of physical multimorbidity patterns with depressive *** This study was designed as a nationwide cross-sectional survey in *** General sample of the Japanese *** Adult Japanese residents were selected by a quota sampling *** were analysed from 1788 residents who reported one or more chronic health *** Among four physical multimorbidity patterns:cardiovascular-renal metabolic(CRM),skeletal-articular digestive(SAD),respiratory-dermal(RDE)and malignant-digestive urologic(MDU),multivariable logistic regression analyses revealed that the RDE pattern showed the strongest association with depressive symptoms(aOR=1.68,95%CI:1.21 to 2.31 for the pattern score highest quartile,compared with the lowest quartile),followed by SAD and MDU patterns(aOR=1.41,95%CI:1.01 to 1.98 for the SAD pattern score highest quartile;1.41,95%CI:1.01 to 1.96 for the MDU pattern score highest quartile,compared with the lowest quartile).In contrast,the CRM pattern score was not significantly associated with depressive symptoms(aOR=1.31,95%CI:0.90 to 1.89 for the pattern score highest quartile,compared with the lowest quartile).Conclusions Physical multimorbidity patterns have different associations with depressive *** these patterns,patients with the RDE pattern may be at a higher risk for developing depressive *** study reinforces the evidence that cluster pattern of chronic health conditions is a useful measure for clinical management of multimorbidity as it is differently associated with mental health status,which is one of the crucial outcomes for multimorbid patients.

We report the systematic survey of the binding free energies at the interface between a carbohydrate binding module(CBM)of Cel7A and the celluloseⅢ_(1)crystal model using grid docking searches and molecular dynamics *** two hydrophobic crystal surfaces were involved in the distinct energy minima of the binding free *** complex models,each with the CBM at the minimum energy position,stably formed in the solution *** binding free energies of the celluloseⅢ_(1)complex models,based on both static and dynamics states,were comparable to those of the native cellulose complex ***,the celluloseⅢ_(1)crystal had a larger binding surface,which is compatible with the observed high enzymatic activity of Cel7A for the celluloseⅢ_(1)substrate.

Recently, many channelized rivers tend to be heavily vegetated due to regime shifts in hydrological, fluvial and ecological processes. Dense vegetation in a river frequently obstructs a flood flow and reduces conveyance capacity of channels. On the other hand, river vegetation provides various ecological services such as habitats for various species and life, natural cycle of organic and inorganic substances, etc.. It is of engineering importance to understand vegetation hydrodynamics in order to preserve vegetation nature and keep a certain level of flow conveyance capacity. In view that willows tend to be densely vegetated along the shoreline of floodplains or sandbars, a field measurement, a physical model experiment and a numerical analysis were carried out for investigating hydrodynamics in an open channel with riparian vegetation. Discussion was made focusing on flow and shear layer structures developed around the vegetation canopy.

Coexisting Phenomena of Surge and Rotating Stall in an Axial Flow Compressor

The unsteady inner flow structure of a single-stage axial flow compressor under the coexisting conditions of surge and rotating stall was experimentally investigated via detailed measurements of the unsteady characteristics and the internal flow velocity fluctuations. The main relevant feature of the tested compressor is a shock tube with a capacity tank connected in series to the compressor outlet through slits and a concentric duplex pipe: surge and rotating stall can both be generated by connecting the shock tube. Research attention is focused on the unsteady behavior of a rotating stall during the surge cycle. The size of the rotating stall cell during the recovery process of an irregular surge cycle was experimentally determined by the circumferential flow velocity fluctuations ahead of the rotor blade. The results suggested that the size of the rotating stall cell at the switching point of the performance curve between large and small cycles is considered to be the key parameter in determining the following surge cycle. In addition, the surge cycle is largely influenced by the unsteady behavior of the rotating stall cell.
