Bottom ash is an inevitable by-product fi＇om municipal solid waste （MSW） incineration plants. Recycling it as additives for cement production is a promising disposal method. However, the heavy metals and chlorine are the main limiting factors because of the potential environmental risks and corrosion of cement kilns. Therefore ,investigating heavy metal and chlorine characteristics of bottom ash is the significant prerequisite of its reuse in cement industries. In this study, a correlative analysis was conducted to evaluate the effect of the MSW components and collection mode on the heavy metal and chlorine characteristics in bottom ash. The chemical speciation of insoluble chlorine was also investigated by synchrotron X-ray diffraction analysis. The results showed that industrial waste was the main source of heavy metals, especially Cr and Pb, in bottom ash. The higher contents of plastics and kitchen waste lead to the higher chlorine level （0.6 wt.%-0.7 wt.%） of the bottom ash. The insoluble chlorine in the MSW incineration bottom ash existed primarily as AlOCl, which was produced under the high temperature （1250℃） in incinerators.

Roots are subterranean organs and normally follow the gravity vector to grow downward. However, in nature, roots can be exposed to sunlight in a negative phototropism response termed root light avoidance （Kutschera and Briggs, 2012）. Such tropic responses are characterized by organ curvature caused by asymmetric growth between different sides of the root, which generally correlates with an asymmetric distribution of the plant hormone auxin （Wang et al., 2015）.

The effect of oxidation pretreatment temperature(500 ~ 1 000 ℃) on the catalytic activity of Kovar applied on hydrocarbon CO2reforming was examined. Catalytic performance evaluation using tetradecane at 800 ℃ with 70 μmol/s CO2revealed 700 and 1 000 ℃ as the best pre-oxidation temperature in producing CO and H2,respectively. XRD and SEM-EDX analyses showed that a separate metal oxide layer composed of iron oxide(Fe2O3and F3O4),nickel,cobalt,and possibly their respective oxides started to form when oxidation was conducted at 700 ℃ or *** presence of iron enhanced the stability of nickel in the structure while the compact structure of Fe3O4resulted into the formation of a thick and rigid metal oxide layer on the surface of the Kovar tube. The strong physical bond between the metal oxide layer and Kovar tube provided the catalyst good mechanical strength and consequently good catalytic activity.

Radio-photoluminescence （RPL） is a phenomenon seen in luminescent materials in which the appearance of new photolu- minescence （PL） emission is induced by an incident ionizing radiation such as X-rays; and the signal is stable even after the irradia- tion and during the PL measurement. Since the induced PL intensity is proportional to the irradiation dose, the RPL can be used in ra- diation measurements. The distinct advantage of RPL over the conventional thermally- or photo-stimulated luminescence （abbrevi- ated as TSL or PSL） dosimeters is the stability of response signal. With an RPL detector, it allows us to readout the signal multiple time without signal fading. In this work, we discovered that CsBr：Sm showed an RPL phenomenon by X-ray irradiation, and we characterized this new material as an RPL detector. While the sample showed PL emissions mainly in the visible range, after an X-ray irradiation additional emissions could be observed in the red to near-infrared range around 650-850 nm and 900-1000 nm and longer. The RPL response was fairly stable overall, but very interestingly the 650-850 nm signal slightly increased while the 900-1000 nm decreased during PL readout. The dynamic range was confirmed over 1-104 mGy with linear response.

Paramyosin is a rod-shaped muscle protein found exclusively in invertebrates, with α-helices coiled around each other to form a coiled-coil structure. Marine organisms in which the primary structure of paramyosin has been determined are mollusks, including abalone (Haliotis discus), mussels (Mytilus galloprovincialis), octopus (Octopus bimaculoides), and oyster (Crassostrea gigas). In contrast, the primary structure of squid paramyosin, which is of particular interest, has yet to be reported. In the present study, cDNA cloning of paramyosins from four squid species, the neon flying squid (Ommastrephes bartramii), the Humboldt squid (Dosidicus gigas), the golden cuttlefish (Sepia esculenta), and the clawed armhook squid (Gonatus onyx), was performed to determine the following: the 2605-bp O. bartramii paramyosin gene containing a 2574-bp open reading frame (ORF), the 2691-bp D. gigas paramyosin gene containing a 2640-bp ORF, the 2631-bp S. esculenta paramyosin gene containing a 2574 ORF, and the 2609-bp G. onyx paramyosin gene containing a 2574-bp ORF. The primary structure of the four squid paramyosins was found to contain heptad repeats and an ACD (assembly competence domain), which are characteristic of a coiled coil. A phylogenetic analysis was performed with paramyosin sequences from species including the four squid species examined in this study, the results of which indicated that the four squid paramyosins form a group independent from the paramyosins of other species, to which octopus paramyosins are closest.

BACKGROUND Emergency surgical resection is a standard treatment for right-sided malignant colonic obstruction; however, the procedure is associated with high rates of mortality and morbidity. Although a bridge to surgery can be created to obviate the need for emergency surgery, its effects on long-term outcomes and the most practical management strategies for right-sided malignant colonic obstruction remain *** To determine the appropriate management approach for right-sided malignant colonic *** Forty patients with right-sided malignant colonic obstruction who underwent curative resection from January 2007 to April 2017 were included in the *** compared the perioperative and long-term outcomes of patients who received bridges to surgery established using decompression tubes and those created using self-expandable metallic stents(SEMS). The primary outcome was the overall survival duration(OS) and the secondary endpoints were the diseasefree survival(DFS) duration and the preoperative and postoperative morbidity rates. Analysis was performed on an intention-to-treat *** There were 21 patients in the decompression tube group and 19 in the SEMS group. There were no significant differences in the perioperative morbidity rates of the two groups. The OS rate was significantly higher in the decompression tube group than in the SEMS group(5-year OS rate; decompression tube 79.5%,SEMS 32%, P = 0.043). Multivariate analysis revealed that the bridge to surgery using a decompression tube was significantly associated with the OS(hazard ratio, 17.41; P = 0.004).
