Utility of plasma D-dimer for diagnosis of venous thromboembolism after hepatectomy

＜正＞ By means of perceptual experiments, we investigated what range of modulation frequency components of the melfrequency cepstral coefficients （MFCC） contains the most important information for speaker identification. In our study, wc conducted two perceptual experiments using an MFCC-based re-synthesis scheme with two types of excitation. In Experiment Ⅰ, speech sounds were resynthesized from the extracted pitch and while noise. In Experiment Ⅱ, speech sounds were re-synthesized only from white noise to avoid including pitch information. For each experiment the original speech sounds were uttered by two sets of five professors. A total of 44 students （16 for Exp. Ⅰ and 28 for Exp. Ⅱ） who attend the professors’ classes participated in the experiments. We analyzed the experimental results in order to estimate the relative importance of different modulation frequencies in speaker recognition. The results show that the most important speaker information was in modulation frequency components from 2 to 8 Hz for both Exp. Ⅰ（pitch-excited） and Exp. Ⅱ（noise-excited）. These results also show that some contribution was derived from including modulation frequency components around 0 Hz. Hence, we concluded that dynamic features are important for human speaker identification as well us static features.

The current study proposes a novel framework for the numerical model for estimating the temporal scour considering unsteady sediment inflow and the sediment sorting process. The framework was applied to local scour upstream of a slit weir. The scour model is based on an ordinary nonlinear differential equation derived from sediment continuity and scour rate equations. A one-dimensional(1-D)Boussinesq-type model coupled with nonequilibrium sediment transport was incorporated in the scour model to consider unsteady sediment inflow. In addition, a mixing layer approach was incorporated to determine temporal variations in particle size in the scour hole. The proposed framework was validated using scour experiments conducted under conditions that include non-uniform sediment, live-bed scour,and unsteady flow rate. The simulation results showed satisfactory agreement with experimental results for the scour upstream of a slit weir. The proposed model appropriately explained the hysteresis process for flow unsteadiness, refilling process for live-bed scour, and armoring process for non-uniform sediments. In addition, the model framework proposed in the current study is applicable to local scour around other hydraulic structures(e.g., bridge piers) upon establishing the scour rate equation. Therefore, the current study provides a novel approach for modeling temporal scour that is required to consider unsteady sediment inflow and sediment sorting.

Ceramic thermal barrier coatings （TBCs） are a very important technology for protecting the hot parts of gas turbines （GTs） from a high-temperature environment. The coating stress generated in the operation of GTs brings cracking and peeling damage to the TBCs. Thus, it is necessary to evaluate precisely such coating stress in a TBC system. We have obtained a stress-strain curve for a freestanding ceramic coat specimen peeled from a TBC coated substrate by conducting the bending test. The test results have revealed that the ceramic coating deforms nonlinearly with the applied loading. In this study, an inelastic constitutive equation for the ceramic thermal barrier coatings deposited by APS is developed. The obtained results are as follows：（1） the micromechanics-based constitutive equation was formulated with micro crack density formed at splat boundary, and （2） it was shown that the numerical results for a nonlinearly deformed beam simulated by the developed constitutive equation agreed with the experimental results obtained by cantilever bending tests.

The Possibility of Active Attitude Control for Fuel Spray

The internal combustion engine (ICE) is an attractive power source for automobiles, with its superior storability, transportability, and suppliability of liquid fuel with high energy density. Compact ICEs with high performance and a low environmental load are greatly needed. In the future, smart active control of combustion by means of fuel spray injection must be considered as a breakthrough technology to address serious issues related to conventional ICEs, such as emissions. A designed fuel injection rate and spray pattern during the injection period have been technically developed, and combustion can be partially controlled in the conventional ICE. However, spatial fuel distribution is not progressing as desired in the field of combustion;thus, new and effective active control technologies for fuel spray are very necessary for the smart control of combustion. Cavitation, flash boiling, spray-to-spray interaction, spray-to-wall interaction, and air flow have potential as a basis for active attitude control of fuel spray. This article uses evidence from the literature to discuss the possibility of active spray attitude control for future fuel spray combustion technology in a smart compact ICE.
