BACKGROUND Flap reconstruction after resection of a superficial malignant soft tissue tumor extends the surgical field and is an indicator for potential recurrence *** To describe a grading system for surgical field extension of soft tissue *** Grading system:CD-grading is a description system consisting of C and D values in the surgical field extension,which are related to the compartmental position of the flap beyond the nearby large joint and deeper extension for the pedicle,respectively.C1/D1 are positive values and C0/D0 are *** a known location,1/0 values can be"p"(proximal),"d"(distal),and"b"(in the tumor bed),and the description method is as follows:flap type,CxDx[x=0,1,p,d or b].RESULTS Four representative patients with subcutaneous sarcomas who underwent reconstruction using fasciocutaneous flaps are *** cases involved a distal upper arm(elbow)synovial sarcoma reconstructed using a pedicled latissimus dorsi(pedicled flap:CpDp);a distal upper arm(elbow)pleomorphic rhabdomyosarcoma reconstructed using a transpositional flap from the forearm(transpositional flap:CdD0);an undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma in the buttocks reconstructed using a transpositional flap(transpositional flap:C0D0);and a myxofibrosarcoma in the buttocks reconstructed using a propeller flap from the thigh(pedicled flap:CdDd).CONCLUSION The reconstruction method is chosen by the surgeon based on size,location,and other tumor characteristics;however,the final surgical field cannot be determined based on preoperative images ***-grading is a description system consisting of C and D values in the surgical field extension that are related to the compartmental position of the flap beyond the nearby large joint and deeper extension for the pedicle,*** CD-grading system gives a new perspective to the flap reconstruction *** CD-grading system also provides important information for follow-up imaging of a possible recurrenc

In amplitude-modulation-type electroholography, the binary-weighted computer-generated hologram(BW-CGH) facilitates the gradation-expressible reconstruction of three-dimensional(3 D) objects. To realize real-time gradation-expressible electroholography, we propose an efficient and high-speed method for calculating bit planes consisting of BW-CGHs. The proposed method is implemented on a multiple graphics processing unit(GPU) cluster system comprising 13 GPUs. The proposed BW-CGH method realizes eight-gradation-expressible electroholography at approximately the same calculation speed as that of conventional electroholography based on binary computer-generated holograms. Consequently, we were able to successfully reconstruct a real-time electroholographic 3 D video comprising approximately 180,000 points expressed in eight gradations at 30 frames per second.

We propose a high-speed playback method for the spatiotemporal division multiplexing electroholographic three-dimensional(3D)video stored in a solid-state drive(SSD)using a digital micromirror *** spatiotemporal division multiplexing electroholography prevents deterioration in the reconstructed 3D video from a 3D object comprising many object *** the proposed method,the stored data is remarkably reduced using the packing technique,and the computer-generated holograms are played back at high ***,we successfully reconstructed a clear 3D video of a 3D object comprising approximately 1,100,000 points at 60 frames per second by reducing the reading time of the stored data from an SSD.

Rare histological subtype of invasive micropapillary carcinoma in the ampulla of Vater: A case report

BACKGROUND Carcinoma of the ampulla of Vater is an uncommon ampullo-pancreatobiliary neoplasm,and the most common histological type is adenocarcinoma with a tubular growth *** micropapillary carcinoma(IMPC)is an aggressive variant of adenocarcinoma in several organs that is associated with lymph node metastasis and poor *** was first described as a histological subtype of breast cancer;however,IMPC of the ampulla of Vater is extremely rare,with only three articles reported in the English *** SUMMARY We have reported a case of IMPC of the ampulla of Vater in an 80-year-old ***,the surface area of the carcinoma was composed of tubulopapillary structures mimicking intra-ampullary papillary-tubular neoplasm,and the deep invasive front area exhibited a pattern of *** carcinoma showed lymphatic invasion and extensive lymph node *** immunohistochemical study revealed mixed intestinal and gastric/pancreatobiliary *** This rare subtype tumor in the ampulla of Vater showed a histologically mixed phenotype and exhibited aggressive behavior.

In higher plants, autophagy is bulk degradation process in vacuole necessary for survival under nutrient-limited conditions and plays important roles in senescence, development and pathogenic response, etc. Cowpea is one of the most important legume crops in semi-aride region, which is highly tolerant to drought stress. Changes of photoassimilate status by drought stress and/or sink-source balance appeared to affect autophagy and senescence of leaf in cowpea. Accordingly, we focused on roles of sucrose signal in autophagy and amino acid recycling in cowpea. Effects of starvation stress on the expression of autophagy-related genes (ATGs) and amino acid catabolism-related genes in cowpea [Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp] were examined by Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and anti-ATG8i specific antibody. Sucrose starvation stress enhanced the expression levels of VuATG8i, VuATG8c and VuATG4 incowpea seedlings. The expressions of amino acid catabolism related genes, such as asparagine synthase (VuASN1), proline dehydrogenase1 (VuProDH) and branched chain amino acid transaminase (VuBCAT2), are also up-regulated under the sucrose starvation. In contrast, high sucrose condition suppressed autophagy and the expressions of ATGs. These results indicate that sucrose starvation stress stimulates both autophagy and amino acid catabolism by regulation of ATGs and VuBCAT2. It is conceivable that sucrose starvation stress enhances autophagy in cowpea, possibly via branched chain amino acid level regulated by the starvation-induced BCAT.

Susceptibility of Aedes flavopictus miyarai and Aedes galloisi mosquito species in Japan to dengue type 2 virus

Saccharides (for example glucose, fructose and xylose) are as recyclable organic resources. Sub-or supercritical water (SCW: Tc=374oC, Pc=22.1MPa) is an interesting medium which is able to convert saccharides into chemical resources without the use of catalysts. From recent works, it was found that valuable organic compounds could be obtained within short reaction time and high yield could be achieved by manipulating reaction temperature and pressure to control reaction rates and equilibria. However in most of reaction systems in most cases required a large amount of water for rapid-heating to prevent advancing of side reactions. Therefore, it was difficult to separate chemical components from product solution because the concentration of the products became dilute. To solve these problems, in this work, degradation experiments of saccharides were carried out using continuous flow-type reactors. The feed solution was 0.1M D-fructose, and degradation was performed in the temperature range of 200-400oC, reaction pressure 20-30MPa, and residence time 1-3s. The identification and quantitative analysis of products were carried by HPLC-UV/RI. From the results of the analysis, it was found that main products were 5-Hydroxyrnethyle-2-frufural(5-HMF),

Objective: To evaluate the potential of local mosquitoes to act as vectors for dengue transmission in ***: Serotype 2 Th NH28/93 was used to test the dengue susceptibility profiles of Aedes flavopictus miyarai(Ae. f. miyarai), Aedes galloisi(Ae. galloisi) and Aedes albopictus(***), which were collected in Japan. We used Aedes aegypti from Thailand as a positive control. The mosquitoes were infected with the virus intrathoracically or orally. At 10 or 14 days post infection, the mosquitoes were dissected and total RNA was extracted from their abdomens, thoraxes, heads and legs. Mosquito susceptibility to dengue virus was evaluated using RT-PCR with dengue virus-specific primers. Differences in the infection and mortality rates of the different mosquito species were tested using Fisher's exact probability ***: The infection rates for dengue virus administered intrathoracically to Ae. f. miyarai,Ae. galloisi and Aedes aegypti mosquitoes were identical by RT-PCR on Day 10 post *** of the body parts we tested were RT-PCR-positive for dengue virus. For the orally administered virus, the infection rates in the different body parts of the Ae. f. miyarai mosquitoes were slightly higher than those of Ae. albopictus mosquitoes, but were similar to the control mosquitoes(P > 0.05). The mortality rates for Ae. f. miyarai and Ae. albopictus mosquitoes were similar(P = 0.19). Our data indicated that dengue virus was able to replicate and disseminate to secondary infection sites in all of the four mosquito species(Japanese and Thai).Conclusions: Ae. albopictus is a well-known candidate for dengue transmission in Japan. However, our data suggest that Ae. f. miyarai from Ishigaki Island(near Okinawa Island) and Ae. galloisi from Hokkaido(Northern Japan) should also be regarded as potential vectors for dengue transmission in these regions. Further studies on these mosquitoes should be conducted.
