Development and Evaluation of 3D Delivery Animation Software Designed to Improve the Mother’s and Spouse’s Satisfaction with Delivery

Purpose: To clarify the effectiveness of 3-D delivery animation software for the mother’s and husband’s satisfaction with delivery. Subjects and Method: We independently developed a software application used to display the pelvic region and explain the labor process. The study involved a collaboration with hospital staff who recruited 18 primiparous and 18 multiparous mothers who were hospitalized for delivery at Facility A. The midwife explained the process of delivery using the “Delivery Animation Software”. A self-administered, anonymous questionnaire was distributed and analyzed separately for primiparous and multiparous mothers and their husbands. Results: 1) For both primiparous and multiparous couples, both mothers and their husbands gained a significantly higher level of understanding after delivery than during pregnancy. 2) The Self-Evaluation Scale for Experience of Delivery results were as follows: “I did my best for the baby even if it was painful” was selected more often for “birth coping skills”;“reliable medical staff” was selected more often for “physiological birth process”;“the birth progressed as I expected” was selected frequently by primiparous mothers;and “the birth progressed smoothly” was selected often by multiparous mothers. 3) In terms of husbands’ satisfaction with the delivery, “I was satisfied with the delivery”, “I was given an easy-to-understand explanation”, and “They explained the process to me” was selected of primiparous and multiparous fathers. 4) All primiparous and multiparous mothers positively evaluated whether the delivery animation was helpful in understanding the process of delivery. Conclusion: The delivery animation was effective in improving the understanding and satisfaction of both the mothers and their husbands.

Anti-Obesity Effects of Dietary d-Allulose and Medium-Chain Triglycerides in High-Fat Diet-Fed Rats

d-Allulose, a rare sugar, exerts anti-obesity effects by inhibiting hepatic lipogenesis and promoting energy expenditure. Medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) consist of three medium-chain fatty acids connected by glycerol. MCTs have been extensively investigated for their ability to reduce body fat accumulation. We previously investigated the anti-obesity effects of a combination of dietary d-allulose and MCT (5% - 13%) in rats;however, we could not confirm the anti-obesity effects of MCT or observed synergetic effects between d-allulose and MCT on body fat loss. We speculated that our previous studies were influenced by the excessive amount of MCT in the diets. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to investigate the anti-obesity effects of the simultaneous intake of d-allulose and MCT in rats fed an obesity-inducing high-fat diet with a low amount of MCTs (2%). Thirty-two male Wistar rats (3-week-old) were randomly divided into four groups: control, d-allulose, MCT, and d-allulose + MCT groups. Rats in each group were fed ad libitum on a control (no d-Allulose or MCT), 5% d-allulose, 2% MCT, or 5% d-allulose + 2% MCT diets for 16 weeks. Abdominal adipose tissue weights were significantly lower in the d-allulose diet group than in the control group, whereas no differences were observed between results of the MCT-supplemented groups. The total body fat mass was significantly lower in the d-allulose and MCT diet groups than in the control group, but no differences were observed between the MCT-supplemented groups. These results suggested that anti-obesity effects of dietary d-allulose were observed, and the effects of dietary MCTs were weaker than those of d-allulose. Moreover, we confirmed the interaction between dietary d-allulose and MCT on indicators of obesity. Interestingly, their effects were not synergistic, as MCT supplementation offset the anti-obesity effects of dietary d-allulose. The development of iterative learning control combined with disturbance-observer-based(DOB)control for the digital low-level radio frequency(LLRF)system of the International Linear Collider project is *** objective of this study is to compensate for both repetitive(or predictable)and unpredictable disturbances in a radio frequency system(e.g.,beam loading,Lorentz force detuning,and microphonics).The DOB control approach was verified using the LLRF system at the Superconducting Test Facility(STF)at KEK in the absence of a *** method comprising DOB control combined with an iterative learning control algorithm was then demonstrated in a cavity-simulator-based test bench,where a simulated beam was *** results showed that the performance of the LLRF system was improved,as expected by this combined control *** plan to further generalize this approach to LLRF systems at the STF and the future International Linear Collider project.

Discrete fracture network(DFN) models have been proved to be effective tools for the characterisation of rock masses by using statistical distributions to generate realistic three-dimensional(3 D) representations of a natural fracture network. The quality of DFN modelling relies on the quality of the field data and their interpretation. In this context, advancements in remote data acquisition have now made it possible to acquire high-quality data potentially not accessible by conventional scanline and window mapping. This paper presents a comparison between aggregate and disaggregate approaches to define fracture sets, and their role with respect to the definition of key input parameters required to generate DFN models. The focal point of the discussion is the characterisation of in situ block size distribution(IBSD) using DFN methods. An application of IBSD is the assessment of rock mass quality through rock mass classification systems such as geological strength index(GSI). As DFN models are becoming an almost integral part of many geotechnical and mining engineering problems, the authors present a method whereby realistic representation of 3 D fracture networks and block size analysis are used to estimate GSI ratings, with emphasis on the limitations that exist in rock engineering design when assigning a unique GSI value to spatially variable rock masses.

Science and technology innovation has always been present in Asia,but its application in disaster risk reduction(DRR) has been *** Asia,globally significant hotspots of disasters and economic development have emerged in which the application of science and technology in DRR has become an essential requirement for informed decision *** has supported establishment and implementation of major international initiatives in DRR,including the Hyogo Framework for Action *** more recent Sendai Framework for DRR 2015-2030 recognizes the importance of science and technology in all of its priority action areas,and subsequent global and regional forums and conferences have reconfirmed science and technology's *** perceive and monitor the progress of science and technology in DRR,a qualitative assessment of different countries is made using three major attributes:(1) science-based decision making;(2) investment in science and technology;and(3) the intensity of science's link to the *** assessment exercise points out several strengths and weaknesses in science and technology application;the method can be employed to develop future multistakeholder and multidisciplinary science and technology plans at the country *** implement regional and national activities,a set of 15 recommendations is put forward,which will strengthen the collective regional "science voice" in DRR.

Success of plants largely depends on their ability to defend against *** emergence of the first voracious consumers,plants maintained adapting their structures and chemistry to escape from *** constant pressure was further accelerated by adaptation of herbivores to plant defenses,which all together sparked the rise of a chemical empire comprised of thousands of specialized metabolites currently found in *** diversity in the plant kingdom is truly amazing,and although many plant metabolites have already been identified,a large number of potentially useful chemicals remain unexplored in plant ***,biosynthetic routes for plant metabolites involve many enzymes,some of which still wait for identification and biochemical ***,regulatory mechanisms that control gene expression and enzyme activities in specialized metabolism of plants are scarcely ***,understanding of how plant defense chemicals exert their toxicity and/or repellency against herbivores remains limited to typical examples,such as proteinase inhibitors,cyanogenic compounds and *** this review,we attempt summarizing the current status quo in metabolic defense of plants that is predominantly based on the survey of ubiquitous examples of plant interactions with chewing herbivores.

The photo-excitation and Auger decay processes of inner-shell double vacancy states 1s2s2p^6（1,3^S）3s3p of neutral neon atoms have been studied theoretically. Multi-configuration Dirac-Fock （MCDF） calculations have been carried out, with electron correlation effects taken into consideration. The relaxation of core and excited orbitals and configuration interaction are found to be crucial to creating the double vacancy states by single photo-absorption. The predominant decay paths for the double vacancy states turn out to be of the LLM Auger decay to 1s 2s^22p^53s（3p）, KLL Auger decay to 1s^22s2p^43s3p, and KLM Auger decay to 1s^22p^63s（3p）. They lead to further Auger decay, creating the neon ions of multiple charge states. For both double and single vacancy states the spectator type of Auger process is dominated in all the Auger decay processes. Theoretical Anger electron spectra are presented for further investigations, experimental and theoretical.
