Effects of a Single Bolus Intravenous Dose of Tramadol on Minimum Alveolar Concentration( MAC) of Sevoflurane in Dogs

Tramadol is an atypical opioid analgesic widely used in small animal *** study was designed to determine the effect of a single intravenous (IV) dose of tramadol on the minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) of sevoflurane in *** beagle dogs were anesthetized twice to determine the sevoflurane MAC with or without an administration of tramadol (4 mg/kg,IV) at 7-days *** sevoflurane MAC was determined using a tail clamp method in each dog ventilated with positive pressure *** tramadol administration produced a significant reduction in the sevoflurane MAC by 22.3 ± 12.2% (1.44 ± 0.28% with tramadol versus 1.86 ± 0.29% without tramadol,P =0.010).This MAC reduction had been determined from 122 ± 19 to 180 ± 41 min following the tramadol *** this period,the plasma concentrations of tramadol and its metabolite,O-desmethyltramadol (M1),decreased from 429 ± 64 to 332 ± 55 ng/mL and from 136 ± 24 to 114 ± 68 ng/mL,respectively,but these changes were not statistically significant (P = 0.070 for tramadol and P = 0.716 for M1).There was no significant difference in heart rate,mean arterial blood pressure and SpO2between the control and tramadol *** dogs that received tramadol treatment sometimes breathed ***,their respiratory rates significantly increased and PETCO2decreased during the MAC *** conclusion,the single IV dose of tramadol produced a significant reduction in the sevoflurane MAC in dog.

Carbon nanotubes(CNTs)are an emerging nanomaterial because of their outstanding performance in various *** recent years,the segment molecules of CNTs,referred to as carbon nanorings(CNRs)or carbon nanobelts(CNBs),have gained attention for their unique structures and properties,as well as their potential as seed molecules for the precise synthesis of *** are rigid and thick segments of CNTs whose synthesis has been addressed by scientists fascinated by the uniqueness of CNBs long before the discovery of *** 60 years of efforts by synthetic chemists all over the world,the synthesis of the first CNB,(6,6)CNB,was achieved by our group in *** this milestone,diverse types of nanobelts have been synthesized through various synthetic routes,thereby demonstrating their photophysical,magnetic,and redox properties derived from rigid belt *** applications of CNBs have also been introduced *** formation of the host−guest complex,transformation to three-dimensional molecules,and measurement of conductivity have been reported for *** paper summarizes the brief history and perspective of *** synthetic campaigns and aggressive application of CNBs would create novel and groundbreaking scenes in materials science.

I shall present a very brief summary of subjects selected from what Prof. Akito Arima has done in the past years. I will focus on the initial works on the configuration mixing and on the Interacting Boson Model. Since there are many literatures on these subjects, I shall concentrate what have been done at the initial or at the pre-history stages. By doing this, we shall see how Prof. Akito Arima started from the scratch.

Background: Little is known about what the experience of “taking antipsychotics” means in a patient’s life. Therefore, this study aims to identify what it means for patients with schizophrenia living in the community to remain on medication. Methods: The participants were five residents of communities, who had been discharged from a psychiatric hospital, but were currently visiting a private psychiatric hospital. In this study, we used participants’ narratives as data and analyzed them according to the procedures described in “An Application of Phenomenological Method in Psychology” (Giorgi, 1975), and “Practice of analyzing materials describing experiences” (Giorgi, 2004). Results: The study results are as follows. 1) The drug may be effective, but Subject (below, S) still wants to take it as little as possible. Meanwhile, S has people who care about S and a person who S can rely on nearby, to manage S’s life. The people above tell S to take medicine, and S takes it. 2) S does not know what kind of medication S is consuming, but recently S has been having a hard time walking;S has people who care for S’s foot and look after S. S thinks taking medicine is for living. 3) S feel some drugs is ineffective. However, S met some people S could trust who passionately recommended the medication to S. S started being careful in remembering to take it. 4) S does not think drugs are necessary for S, but S can interact with people and spend S’s days. S has people who accept S as S is. S continues living in the community while taking medicine that a doctor offers. 5) S was skeptical about the drugs. However, S has a person S can trust, who recommended a way to take the medication in a way that S does not feel overwhelmed. S thinks that it may be a good idea to take it. Conclusions: Based on the analysis of the narratives of each of the five participants, the essential structure was read from the perspective of a third party regarding participants’ medication adherence. Seismic Response of Magnetically Levitated House

This study explored the seismic response of a house supporting base sides with a polymeric displacement control material and by magnetically levitating the foundation base. In this paper, we explore the possibility and efficacy of a seismic-isolated detached house as described above from both a shaking table experiment of model and three-dimensional finite element analysis. The seismic-isolated model showed stable response and its acceleration response was significantly reduced compared to the base-fixed model in the shaking table test. Three-dimensional finite element analysis was possible to simulate the experimental results. In the seismic response analysis of a full-scale detached house, the seismic-isolated model showed response reduction and its residual displacement was smaller than that of the sliding-base isolation model.
