AIm.To evaluate the effect of chronic m.ld stress(Cm.) on the em.rgence of gastric ulcers and possible m.dulation by octreotide,a synthetic som.tostatin analogue. m.THODS:Adult m.le Wistar rats were subjected to nine different unpredictable random.stress procedures for 21 d,a m.ltifactorial interactional anim.l m.del for *** was adm.nistered daily for 21 d at two dose levels(50 and 90μg/kg)before exposure to stress ***-and m.croscopical assessm.nts were m.de,in addition to quantification of plasm. corticosterone and gastric m.cosal inflam.atory,oxidative stress, and apoptotic biom.rkers. RESULTS:Exposure to Cm. elevated plasm. corticosterone(28.3±0.6μg/dL,P=0.002),an event that was accom.anied by gastric lesions(6.4±0.16 m.,P=0.01) and confirm.d ***,the insult elevated gastric m.cosal lipid peroxides(13±0.5 nm.l/g tissue,P=0.001),tum.r necrosis factor-α(3008.6±78.18 pg/g tissue,Pm. protein,P=0.002).Conversely,Cm. m.tigated interleukin-10(627.9±12.82 pg/g tissue,P= 0.001).Furtherm.re,in anim.ls exposed to Cm.,octreotide restored plasm. corticosterone(61%and 71%from.Cm.,P=0.002)at both dose *** beneficial effects were associated with a rem.rkable suppression of gastric lesions(38%and 9%from.Cm.,P=0.01)and reversal of derangem.nts in gastric m.cosa. CONCLUSION:The current investigation provides evidence that exposure to Cm. induces gastric ulceration, which was alleviated by adm.nistration of octreotide possibly possessing antioxidant,anti-inflam.atory,and anti-apoptotic actions.

In this study,we conducted a search for dark m.tter using a part of the data recorded by the Cm. experim.nt during run-I of the LHC in 2012 with a center of m.ss energy of 8 TeV and an integrated lum.nosity of 11.6 fb−*** data were gathered from.the Cm. open *** m.tter,in the fram.work of the sim.lified m.del(m.no-Z′),can be produced from.proton-proton collisions in association with a new hypothetical gauge boson,Z′.Thus,the search was conducted in the dim.on plus large m.ssing transverse m.m.ntum.*** benchm.rk scenario of m.no-Z′,which is known as light vector,was used for interpreting the Cm. open *** evidence of dark m.tter was observed,and exclusion lim.ts were set on the m.sses of dark m.tter and Z′at 95%confidence level.

Law enforcem.nt rem.ins to be the m.in strategy used to com.at poaching and account for high budget share in protected area m.nagem.nt. Studies on efficiency of wildlife law enforcem.nt in the protected areas are lim.ted. This study analyzed econom.c efficiency of wildlife law enforcem.nt in term. of resource used and output generated using three different protected areas (PAs) of Serengeti ecosystem.nam.ly Serengeti National Park (SENAPA), Ikorongo/Grum.ti Gam. Reserves (IGGR) and Ikona Wildlife m.nagem.nt Area (IWm.). Three years (2010-2012) m.nthly data on wildlife law enforcem.nt inputs and outputs were collected from.respective PAs authorities and supplem.nted with key inform.nt interviews and secondary data. Questionnaire surveys were conducted to wildlife law enforcem.nt staff. Shadow prices for non-m.rketed inputs were estim.ted, and m.rket prices for m.rketed inputs. Data Envelopm.nt Analysis (DEA) was used to estim.te econom.c efficiency using Variable Return to Scale (VRS) and Constant Return to Scale (CCR) assum.tions. Results revealed that wildlife law enforcem.nt in all PAs was econom.cally inefficient, with less inefficiency observed in IWm.. The less inefficiency in IWm. is likely attributed to existing sense of ownership and responsibility created through com.unity-based conservation which resulted in to decrease in law enforcem.nt costs. A slacks evaluation revealed a potential to reduce fuel consum.tion, num.er of patrol vehicles, ration and prosecution efforts at different m.gnitudes between studied protected areas. There is equal potential to recruit m.re rangers while m.intaining the resting tim.. These finding form. the bases for m.nitoring and evaluation with respect to resource usage to enhance efficiency. It is further recom.ended to enhance com.unity participation in conservation in SENAPA and IGGR to lower law enforcem.nt costs. Recently,different nanom.terial-based adsorbents have received greater attention for the rem.val of environm.ntal pollutants,specifically heavy m.tals from.aqueous *** this work,we synthesized few-layered m.S2 nanosheets via a surfactant-assisted hydrotherm.l m.thod and utilized them.as an efficient adsorbent for the rem.val of m.rcury from.aqueous *** synthesized m.S2 nanosheets showed petal-like m.rphology as confirm.d by scanning electron m.croscope and high-resolution transm.ssion electron m.croscopic *** average thickness of the nanosheets is found to be about 57 *** high stability and negative zeta potential m.kes this m.terial suitable for efficient adsorption of m.rcury from.aqueous *** adsorption efficiency of the adsorbent was investigated as a function of pH,contact tim. and adsorbent *** kinetics of adsorption and reusability potential of the adsorbent were also perform.d.A pseudo-second-order kinetics for m.rcury adsorption was *** prepared m.S_(2) nanosheets showed 93%m.rcury rem.val efficiency,whereas regenerated adsorbent showed 91%and 79%rem.val efficiency in the respective 2^(nd) and 3^(rd) *** adsorption capacity of the adsorbent was found to be 289 m./g at room.tem.erature.

In this paper, we propose an algorithm.for solving inequality constrained m.ni-m.x optim.zation problem. In this algorithm. an active set strategy is used together with m.l- tiplier m.thod to convert the inequality constrained m.ni-m.x optim.zation problem.into unconstrained optim.zation problem. A trust-region m.thod is a well-accepted technique in constrained optim.zation to assure global convergence and is m.re robust when they deal with rounding errors. One of the advantages of trust-region m.thod is that it does not require the objective function of the m.del to be convex. A global convergence analysis for the proposed algorithm.is presented under som. conditions. To show the efficiency of the algorithm.num.rical results for a num.er of test problem. are reported.
