Fulminant hepatitis is a serious, life-threatening disorder and is associated with inflammatory cytokines produced by Kupffer cells. However, a number of clinical trials for the treatment of fulminant hepatitis did not show enough substantial benefits. Since NF-κB is a key mediator of inflammatory response in Kupffer cells, NF-κB decoy would be an attractive candi-datefor the treatment of fulminant hepatitis.

In the clinical field,insulin has been used for treatment of ***,insulin often shows low physicochemical stability,adsorption onto tubes and enzymatic degradation in injection site or ***,we demonstrated that cyclodextrins(CyDs),especially branchedβ-CyDs,improve the pharmaceutical properties of insulin through complexation with its aromatic ***,little has been reported on the insulin conjugate with branchedβ-*** the present study,to improve the pharmaceutical properties of insulin,we newly prepared 6-Ο-α-(4-Ο-α-D-glucuronyl)-D-glucosyl-β-CyD(GUG-β-CyD)conjugate with insulin,and evaluated its thermal or enzymatic stability and adsorption onto glass or polypropylene tube[1].

Recently,a large number of antibodies have been utilized as biodrugs,and their subcutaneous formulations are required to allow the ***,because of the lower administration capacity of subcutaneous formulation than intravenous ones,highly-concentrated antibody formulations(>100 mg/mL)are ***,highly-concentrated antibodies often cause aggregation during the long-term storage and transportation,resulting in the loss of pharmacological activity and induction of *** the other hand,we previously reported the potential use of polypseudorotaxane(PPRX)hydrogels consisting of polyethylene glycol(PEG,MW 20,000)and cyclodextrins(CyDs)as sustained release systems for protein drugs such as insulin and lysozyme.

GM1-gangliosidosis is a rare lysosomal storage disorder characterized clinically by a wide range of variable neurovisceral,ophthalmological and dysmorphic features. Without enough functionalβ-galactosidase, GM1-gangliosides cannot be degraded in lysosomes, and accumulate to toxic levels in many tissues and organs, particularly in the brain. In spite of several approaches for the treatment of GM1-gangliosidosis.

Atopic dermatitis is a skin disease characterized by inflammation, pruritus, and chronic or relapsing eczematous lesions. Recently, ampholytic polysaccharide sacran has attracted a particular focus of attention as a novel biomaterial. In the present study, we investigated the effect of sacran solution on atopic dermatitis in the clinical study. Almost all of the average scores for atopic dermatitis symptoms of each patient treated with sacran solutions were improved. In addition, the scores of sleep disorder and itching were also significantly ameliorated by the sacran treatment for 4 weeks, compared with those of initial states. In immatured dermal skin model stimulated with 2,4-dinitrofluorobenzene (DNFB), the sacran treatment markedly down-regulated inflammatory cytokine and chemokine mRNA levels such as MCP-1, TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6 mRNAs, compared with that of DNFB alone. Furthermore, a sacran solution significantly suppressed the mRNA expression of TNF-α and COX-2 in RAW264.7 cells, a murine macrophage-like cell line, stimulated with phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate (PMA). In RBL-2H3 cells, a rat basophilic leukemia cell line, a sacran solution significantly lowered β-hexosaminidase release, indicating the suppression of allergic response. These results suggest that a sacran solution may have the potential to improve atopic dermatitis through the impairment of production of inflammatory cytokine and chemokine mRNA.

We study the relation between the magnetic field structure and the induced electric-current distribution based on a cylindrical model composed of a uniform electrically conductive medium. When the time-varying magnetic fields are axisymmetrically applied in the axial direction of the model, the electric fields are induced around the central axis in accordance with Faradays law. We examine the eddy-current distributions generated by loop-coils with various geometries carrying an alternating electric current. It is shown that the radial structure of the induced fields can significantly be controlled by the loop coil geometry, which will be suitable for practical use especially in magnetic nerve stimulation on bioelectromagneties, if we appropriately p/ace the exciting coil with optimum geometry.

We analytically derive the solutions for electromagnetic fields of electric current dipole moment, which is placed in the exterior of the spherical homogeneous conductor, and is pointed along the radial direction. The dipole moment is driven in the low frequency f = 1 kHz and high frequency f = 1 GHz regimes. The electrical properties of the conductor are appropriately chosen in each frequency. Electromagnetic fields are rigorously formulated at an arbitrary point in a spherical geometry, in which the magnetic vector potential is straightforwardly given by the Biot- Savart formula, and the scalar potential is expanded with the Legendre polynomials, taking into account the appropriate boundary conditions at the spherical surface of the conductor. The induced electric fields are numerically calculated along the several paths in the low and high frequeny excitation. The self-consistent solutions obtained in this work will be of much importance in a wide region of electromagnetic induction problems.

R^(2)-corrected dark energy(DE)models in F(R)gravity have been widely investigated in recent years,which not only removes the weak singularity potentially present in DE models but also provide us with a unified picture of the cosmic history,including the inflationary and DE *** the unified interpretation of dynamical DE all over the cosmic history in the class of R^(2)-corrected DE models,we explore the universal features of the scalaron dynamics in the radiation-dominated epoch,along with the chameleon mechanism,by keeping our eyes on the inflationary and DE *** show that the scalaron evolution does not follow a surfing solution and is mostly adiabatic before big bang nucleosynthesis(BBN),even properly including the kick by the nonperturbative QCD phase transition,hence a catastrophic consequence claimed in the literature is not applied to this class of DE *** is due to the presence of the gigantic scale hierarchy between R^(2) correction and DE,so is the universal feature for the class of R^(2)-corrected DE *** prospects for the post-or onset-inflationary epoch would be pretty different from what the standard R^(2) inflationary scenario undergoes due to the presence of the chameleon mechanism.

It is widely believed that the screening mechanism is an essential feature for the modified gravity theory. Although this mechanism has been examined thoroughly in the past decade, their analyses are based on a conventional fluid prescription for the matter-sector configuration. In this paper, we demonstrate a new formulation of the chameleon mechanism in F(R) gravity theory, to shed light on quantum-field theoretical effects on the chameleon mechanism as well as the related scalaron physics, induced by the matter sector. We show a possibility that the chameleon mechanism is absent in the early Universe based on a scale-invariant-extended scenario beyond the standard model of particle physics, in which a realistic electroweak phase transition, yielding the right amount of baryon asymmetry of Universe today, simultaneously breaks the scale invariance in the early Universe. We also briefly discuss the oscillation of the scalaron field and indirect generation of non-tensorial gravitational waves induced by the electroweak phase transition.

In this paper,we present a practical method for reconstructing the bidirectional reflectance distribution function(BRDF)from multiple images of a real object composed of a homogeneous *** key idea is that the BRDF can be sampled after geometry estimation using multi-view stereo(MVS)*** contribution is selection of reliable samples of lighting,surface normal,and viewing directions for robustness against estimation errors of *** method is quantitatively evaluated using synthesized images and its effectiveness is shown via real-world experiments.
