In this study,a route for simultaneous mineralization of CO2 and production of titanium dioxide and ammonium alum,and microporous silicon dioxide from titanium-bearing blast furnace slag(TBBF slag)was proposed,which is comprised of(Nh4)2 S04 roasting,acid leaching,ammonium alum crystallization,silicic acid flocculation and Ti *** effects of relevant process parameters were systematically *** re sults showed that under the optimal roasting and leaching conditions about 85%of titanium and 84.6%of aluminum could be extracted while only 30%of silicon entered the leachate.84%of Al^3+was crystallized from the leachate in the form of ammonium aluminum sulfate dodecahydrate with a purity up to 99.5 wt%.About 85%of the soluble silicic acid was flocculated with the aid of secondary alcohol polyoxyethylene ether 9(AEO-9)to yield a microporous SiO2 material(97.4 wt%)from the crystallized mother *** Al-and Si-depleted solution was then hydrolyzed to generate a titanium dioxide(99.1 wt%)with uniform particle size *** was figured out that approximately 146 kg TiO2 could be produced from 1000 kg of TBBF ***,the improved process is a promising method for industrial application.

Medicinal plants have been used to treat many diseases with fewer side effects compared to clinical medicines. The need for treatment by medicinal plants has been increasing in response to the accumulation of environmental pollutants. The herbicide 2, 4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid has been considered as fast spreadable environmental pollutant, which may cause many disorders in animals and possibly in humans. The aim of this study is to assess the protective and/or curative effect of Lepidium sativum against hepatotoxicity induced by 2, 4-D herbicide in rats. 25 Albino Wistar rats were grouped into 4 groups: a control group, the curative group treated for 4 weeks with LS water extract after a single dose 2, 4-D LD50 administration, protective group which was treated for 4 weeks with LS water extract prior to the 2, 4-D LD50 administration, and LS only group that was given the LS water extract as a positive control. Using transmission electron microscope, the histological features showed that curative group hepatocytes still suffered from focal necrosis and vacuolation of hepatocytes as a result of 2, 4-D toxic effect whereas in the protective group hepatocytes were less accentuated expressed as less frequent necrotic area, and still large mitochondria were present with numerous undissolved lipid droplets and a small amount of rough endoplasmic reticulum. For the LS only group, nearly normal cells with centric nucleus, normal small mitochondria were at a normal nucleus-cytoplasmic ratio, but a few lipid droplets were noticed. This article considers estimation of the unknown parameters for the compound Rayleigh distribution (CRD) based on a new life test plan called a progressive first failure-censored plan introduced by Wu and Kus (2009). We consider the maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference of the unknown parameters of the model, as well as the reliability and hazard rate functions. This was done using the conjugate prior for the shape parameter, and discrete prior for the scale parameter. The Bayes estimators hav been obtained relative to both symmetric (squared error) and asymmetric (LINEX and general entropy (GE)) loss functions. It has been seen that the symmetric and asymmetric Bayes estimators are obtained in closed forms. Also, based on this new censoring scheme, approximate confidence intervals for the parameters of CRD are developed. A practical example using real data set was used for illustration. Finally, to assess the performance of the proposed estimators, some numerical results using Monte Carlo simulation study were reported.

We introduce a new two-parameter model related to the inverted Topp–Leone distribution called the power inverted Topp–Leone(PITL)*** properties of the PITL distribution are stated;including;quantile measures,moments,moment generating function,probability weighted moments,Bonferroni and Lorenz curve,stochastic ordering,incomplete moments,residual life function,and entropy *** sampling plans are developed for the PITL distribution,when the life test is truncated at a pre-specified *** truncation time is assumed to be the median lifetime of the PITL distribution with pre-specified *** minimum sample size necessary to ensure the specified life test is obtained under a given consumer’s *** results for given consumer’s risk,parameters of the PITL distribution and the truncation time are *** estimation of the model parameters is argued using maximum likelihood,least squares,weighted least squares,maximum product of spacing and Bayesian methods.A simulation study is confirmed to evaluate and compare the behavior of different *** real data applications are afforded in order to examine the flexibility of the proposed model compared with some others *** results show that the power inverted Topp–Leone distribution is the best according to the model selection criteria than other competitive models.

AIMTo determine the seroprevalence of hepatitis B surface antigen (hBsAg) among pregnant women attending antenatal clinic in honiara, Solomon Islands. METhODSThis descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out in seven area health centers in honiara. From March to June 2015, identification of eligible pregnant women in each site was conducted using systematic random sampling technique. A total of 243 pregnant women who gave written informed consent were enrolled. Standardized tool was used to record demographics, obstetric history and serology results. hBsAg and hepatitis B e antigen (hBeAg) were tested using point-of-care rapid diagnostic test. All hBsAg positive samples were verified using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTSThe mean age of participants was 26 ± 6 years. The overall hepatitis hBsAg prevalence was 13.8% with higher rate (22%) reported in women between 30-34 years of age. Majority of hBsAg positive participants were Melanesians (29 out for 33). None of the pregnant women in the 15-19 years and ≥ 40 years tested positive for hBsAg. There was no statistically significant difference in hBsAg prevalence by age, ethnicity, education and residential location. The overall hBeAg seroprevalence was 36.7%. Women between 20-24 years of age had the highest rate of 54.5%. Low level of knowledge about hepatitis B vaccination was reputed. Overall, 54.6% of participants were not aware of their hepatitis B vaccination status and only 65.2% of mothers reported their child had been vaccinated. CONCLUSIONhepatitis B is a disease of public health importance in Solomon Islands and emphasize the need for integrated preventative interventions for its control.

A new series of dimeric Cu（II） and Ni（II） complexes with some aroylhydrazones of a-pyridoin were synthesized and characterized using different physical techniques. Their chemical formulae were based on their microanalysis and IR data. The structures of the solid complexes were determined from the electronic, IR and ESR spectral studies as well as their magnetic susceptibility measurements. The ligands acted as bi-, tri- and tetra-dentate forming different dinuclear complexes with different structures. The assumed molecular structures based on the experimental results were also confirmed by the molecular mechanics calculations. The extraction ability of the hydrazones has been investigated by liquid-liquid extraction for Cu（II） and Ni（II）.

Digital watermarking is one of the most powerful tools used in ownership and copyrights protection in digital media. This paper presents a blind digital video watermarking technique based on a combination scheme between the Discrete Wavelet transform in (DWT) and the real Schur Decomposition. The scheme starts with applying twolevel DWT to the video scene followed by Schur decomposition in which the binary watermark bits are embedded in the resultant block upper triangular matrix. The proposed technique shows high efficiency due to the use of Schur decomposition which requires fewer computations compared to other transforms. The imperceptibility of the scheme is also very high due to the use of DWT transform;therefore, no visual distortion is noticed in the watermarked video after embedding. Furthermore, the technique proves to be robust against set of standard attacks like: Gaussian, salt and pepper and rotation and some video attacks such as: frame dropping, cropping and averaging. Both capacity and blindness features are also considered and achieved in this technique.

This article considers the problem in obtaining the maximum likelihood prediction (point and interval) and Bayesian prediction (point and interval) for a future observation from mixture of two Rayleigh (MTR) distributions based on generalized order statistics (GOS). We consider one-sample and two-sample prediction schemes using the Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithm. The conjugate prior is used to carry out the Bayesian analysis. The results are specialized to upper record values. Numerical example is presented in the methods proposed in this paper.
