Upregulation of REL and WSB1 in Patients With Psoriasis and Metabolic Syndrome

Objective:A strong association exists between metabolic syndrome and *** current study was performed to explore the gene regulation of metabolic syndrome in patients with ***:Patients were assessed for psoriasis and metabolic syndrome clinically (Psoriasis Area and Severity Index,height,weight,waist circumference,and blood pressure) and biochemically (lipid profile and fasting blood sugar concentration).Systemic gene regulation was first explored by microarray and analyzed using Transcriptome Analysis Console Software,after which two selected upregulated genes were further validated using polymerase chain reaction and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and analyzed using independent samplet ***:The analysis showed 7,269 upregulated and 3 downregulated genes at a fold change of 2 andP value of < 0.05;only 17 genes were upregulated and none were downregulated at a fold change of 8 andP value of < *** with 22 previously reported potential biomarkers of metabolic syndrome in patients with psoriasis showed that the levels of 16 biomarkers aligned with the gene regulation observed in the current *** particular,theREL transcript was upregulated 12-fold (P = 8.16 × 10-17),while theWSB1 transcript was upregulated 9-fold (P = 9.87 × 10-13).Validation showed thatREL was also upregulated 2-fold in the polymerase chain reaction,and its protein was expressed at 7.140 ng/*** levels in the cases (P = 0.048).However,WSB1 was upregulated 2-fold in the polymerase chain reaction compared with controls,and unexpectedly,its protein was undetectable in cases but detectable in controls (P = 0.018).Conclusion:The upregulation ofREL andWSB1 was observed in patients with psoriasis and metabolic syndrome,the clinical application ofREL andWSB1 as biomarkers needs further validation for potential future implications in clinical practice.

Eleven steel grades were designed to be used as metallic interconnects for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC). Low carbon, high chromium steel with different additives of niobium, vanadium, aluminum, molybdenum, silicon, manganese and titanium were produced. Phase transformation temperatures;eutectoid temperature (Ac1) and temperature at which transformation of ferrite to austenite is completed during heating (Ac3) were measured by L75-76 dilatometer. The influence of the alloying elements on transformation temperatures was analyzed using MATLab. Considering the interaction between different alloying elements two equations for predicting Ac1 & Ac3 were obtained. The obtained Ac1 & Ac3 by these equations showed more compatibility than that obtained by traditional ones. In addition, the coefficients of thermal expansion of these steel grades were detected. The influences of chemical composition and temperature on the thermal expansion coefficient were analyzed;the obtained equations were verified to certain extent by using several kinds of steels. The predicted values were in good accordance with the experimental results which proof the validation of calculation model.

A new organic sulfate (C8H22N2)SO42H2O denoted DPAES is obtained by interaction of H2SO4 with the organic molecule 2-[Diisopropylamino] ethylamine. We describe its crystallographic and structural features. DPAES is triclinic, Pī, with the lattice parameters a = 6.8841(2)?, b = 8.4966(2)?, c = 12.0804(3)?, = 81.824(1)o, = 88.007(1)o, = 78.649(1)o, V = 685.72(3)?3, and Z = 2. Its atomic arrangement is described as inorganic chains of SO42- units and water molecules, these chains are interconnected by organic groups so as to build layers parallel to the (001) planes. The IR data of DPAES are reported and discussed according to the theoretical group analysis and by comparison with IR results of similar compounds. The coupled TG-DTA thermal study shows the departure of two water molecule, con- firming the hydrated character of this compound.

Simulation of Dual-Band MWCNT Ink-Based Spiral Antenna: A Comparative Study

In this paper, we compare a dual-band, square spiral microstrip patch antenna constructed from Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNT) ink for wearable application simulated by Computer Simulation Technology Microwave Studio (CST MWS) by our work simulated by Advanced Design System (ADS) electromagnetic simulator using the same material characterization. The reflection coefficient is –12 dB at 1.2276 GHz for MWCNT and –13 dB at 1.25 GHz for the copper simulated by CST MWS and reflection coefficient is –12.235 dB at 1.234 GHz for MWCNT and –18.36 dB at 1.243 GHz for the copper simulated by ADS and the reflection coefficient is –27dB at 2.47 GHz for MWCNT and –13 dB at 2.53 GHz for the copper simulated by CST MWS and the reflection coefficient is –26.08 dB at 2.48 GHz for MWCNT and –17.031 dB at 2.47 GHz for the copper simulated by ADS. We show the meandering of the surface current on the radiating in spiral patch. The antenna gain is found to be –12.5 dBi at 1.22 GHz for MWCNT and is found –12.05 dBi at 1.25 GHz at CST MWS and the antenna gain is found to be –11.85 dBi at 1.235 GHz for MWCNT and is found –12.25 dBi at 1.243 GHz at ADS and the antenna gain is found to be –4.25 dBi at 2.47 GHz for MWCNT and is found –4.01 dBi at 2.53 GHz at CST MWS and the antenna gain is found to be –4.23 dBi at 2.47 GHz for MWCNT and is found –4.88 dBi at 2.45 GHz at ADS. We show a close agreement in the results obtained by the two simulation software's CST MWS and ADS. The results are given for both MWCNT and Copper characterizations.

A new type of gain flattening filter for amplified spontaneous emission （ASE） source based on erbium doped fiber （EDF） is proposed and demonstrated by fabricating and writing two series ultra-long period fiber grating （ULPFG） on single mode fiber （SMF-28）. The novelty method in this research is based on writing the two ULPFGs as fat gratings. The LPG is written by a simple and available arc-discharge method. The pump power based on single-pass backward pump configuration is around 100mW, and the average wavelength is near to 974nm. The gain flattening profile is obtained by 3.4 （±1.7）dB ripple in the wavelength range between 1524nm and 1565nm with 41-nm band width.

We observe the gravity discharge of liquid through the short cylindrical tube of diameter of 2 mm and aspect ratio 2.5 and 10 attached to the underside of Mariotte bottle. When the hydrostatic head is reduced and approaches to a certain value, a laminar jet escaped from the nozzle is interrupted and the discharge is drop wise. The plot of the discharge rate as a function of hydrostatic head does not pass through the origin as predicted by Torricelli law for an ideal liquid. We attribute this feature to the energy losses related with creating a new free surface area of the jet. The measurements for water and aqueous ethanol solution are compared with theoretical predictions based on the modified Bernoulli equation with the interfacial energy density correction and good agreement is observed.

A proper infrastructure assessment in the contemporary engineering world has become very crucial due to the palpable resources challenges. Therefore, from the design, construction, operation and maintenance stages of the built infrastructural systems; cognizance must be taken of the associated factors and their significance. In considering these indices, the experts will save lots of resources wastage thereby integrating new technologies into the full life cycle of the infrastructure. In this paper, two sets of building infrastructure professionals were assessed. These are the corporate building organization （CBO） and the Operators from two shopping malls within the UK. Thirty-four factors regarding the sustainable building infrastructure appraisal were identified through literature reviews. These characteristics were accordingly classified into two factors （group I and II） and a comparative analysis of their influence conducted. Priority rating of the factors assessment on building infrastructure was through structured, administered survey amongst professionals within these organizations. Information of this survey revealed that the experts maintained a strong concordance in rating these factors. As a result, the associated factors have relatively substantial degree of influence in this context. Further indications of the result in groups I and II are that the CBO experts have indicated the infrastructure size, planning and design as the key factors. Also, the type of building characteristic was among others as the top and bottom marked cases. Similarly, the Operators too have maintained that a proper infrastructure design should incorporate a good policy framework for efficient energy saving fixtures and conservation. Additionally, the installation of quality equipment promotes cost savings of the resources and a just-in-time maintenance of the infrastructure at large. The maintain as-we-go philosophy characteristic was not strongly encouraged in this case.

Effects of drying process on total phenolics,antioxidant activity and flavonoid contents of common Mediterranean herbs

Four different fresh and dried herb species(sage,thyme,mint and lemonbalm)were evaluated to study the effect of drying process on the total phenolics,antioxidant activity,flavonoid contents and color *** mint had the highest contents of total phenolics(335.4 mg GAE/100 g),whereas lower levels were respectively found in sage(316.4 mg GAE/100 g)followed by lemonbalm(303.2 mg GAE/100 g)and thyme(299.2 mg GAE/100 g).Dry processing significantly decreased the phytochemical contents of all investigated *** to air drying,total phenolics,antioxidant activity and flavonoids content in herbs decreased apparently by oven *** mint had the highest antioxidant activity(87.46%)and flavonoids content(298.51 mg CE/100 g),while the fresh sage,thyme and lemonbalm were found to have antioxidant activity values of 86.81%,86.56% and 85.26%,*** showed that air drying herbs contained more total phenolics,antioxidant activity,and flavonoids than oven drying herbs.

Dear Editors,In the article“Serum Iron Overload Activates the SMAD Pathway and Hepcidin Expression of Hepatocytes via SMURF1”,Ning Zhang et *** the molecular mechanisms linking serum iron overload to hepcidin expression,emphasizing the role of SMURF1 as a pivotal regulator of the bone morphogenetic proteins(BMP)/SMAD pathway in response to holo-transferrin induction.1 This research is significant given hepcidin’s crucial role in iron homeostasis and the pathophysiology of iron overload disorders,such as hereditary hemochromatosis.
