Importance of Water Chemistry in Oil and Gas Operations—Properties and Composition

In the oil and gas industry, water is essential element since it exists in most of the stages, starting from drilling operations, then production processes including injecting in the reservoir to maintain the pressure, and finally disposing the produced water from the reservoir. Therefore, it is very important to understand the water in the petroleum industry with its different types and study its effects on the reservoirs as well as the downhole and surface equipment. Most of the studies and literature reviews focused on the oil and gas properties. In fact, understanding the properties of the water is as important as the oil and gas properties. Water is always present in the oil and gas fields during production, injection or disposal. Therefore, it has a direct impact on the productivity and overall efficiency of the field and the entire development project. This paper is going to illustrate and focus on several objectives. First, it elaborates the importance of the water in the oil and gas fields. Then, it includes a comprehensive overview of different types of water in the petroleum industry including a summary about of their properties. The main two types that the paper focuses on are the produced water and the injected water. It clarifies the effects of both of them on the reservoir, well completions and facilities. After that, the paper touches bases on the common problems and issues caused by water along with a brief summary of steps needed by the operators to follow in order to solve them. In addition to that, the common monitoring procedures and tests that are usually followed to observe the quality of the water are going to be presented. Finally, couples of solutions used by operators are reviewed to solve the problem of excessive water production after the water breakthrough in the field.

Equilibrium Isotherms and Kinetic Studies of Removal of Methylene Blue Dye by Adsorption onto Miswak Leaves as a Natural Adsorbent

In this research miswak leaves, agriculture wastes, available in large quantity in Saudi Arabia, was used as low-cost adsorbent for removing methylene blue (MB) dye. Equilibrium behavior of miswak leaves was investigated by performing batch adsorption experiments. The effects of [MB] 0, pH, contact time and adsorbent dose were evaluated. An alkaline pH (10.6) was favorable to the adsorption of MB dye. Adsorption isotherm models, Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin were used to simulate the equilibrium data. Langmuir equation was found to have the highest value of R2 compared with other models. Furthermore, it was found that miswak leaves have a high adsorptive capacity towards MB dye (200 mg/g) and show favorable adsorption of MB dye with separation factor (RL < 1). In addition, pseudo-first- order, pseudo-second order and intra-particle diffusion were used to study the kinetics of MB adsorption onto miswak leaves. Adsorption process undergoes pseudo-second order kinetic as proved by the high value of R2 and the low value of sum of squared error (SSE percentage). Results indicated that intra-particle diffusion is not the limiting step, and the adsorption process is spontaneous as indicated by the negative value of the .

Detection of Aflatoxin from Some Aspergillus sp. Isolated from Wheat Seeds

Ten seed borne fungi （Alternaria sp., Aspergillus sp., Aureobasidium sp., Cladosporium sp., Dreschslera sp., Penicillium sp., Rhizoctonia sp., Stemphylium sp., Mueor sp. and Rhizopus sp.） were isolated and identified from two wheat varieties, the highest frequency of seed borne fungi was observed on wheat cultivar site Moll4 Alternaria sp.. Their mean and standard deviation was （5.5 ~ 1.69） while the lowest frequency fungal isolated was Dreschslera sp. and Rhizopus sp.. Their mean and standard deviation was （0.1 ~ 0.64）. The aflatoxin-producing isolates appeared as gray or black colonies in the UV photographs, whereas nonproducing isolates appeared as white colonies, the plate five colony four （P5CO4） showed the positive results which means the presence of aflatoxin as compaired to the control which showed the ngative results. Ammonium Hydroxide Vapor-Induced Color Change method used which the dish was inverted and 1 or 2 drops of concentrated ammonium hydroxide solution are placed on the inside of the lid. The undersides of aflatoxin-producing colonies quickly turn plum-red after the bottom of the Petri dish has been inverted over the lid containing the ammonium hydroxide aspositive result in （P5CO4） and （P7CO4） observed. Essentially no color change occurs on the undersides of colonies that are not producing aflatoxinsthis indicate to the negative results （control）. The main objective of this study is to isolation, identification and rapid detection of aflatoxin from wheat seed borne fungi.

In this paper, synthesis and anticancer activities of morpholine hydrazones scaffold（1-17） thoroughly studied. Small series of morpholine hydrazones synthesized by treating 5-morpholinothiophene-2-carbaldehyde with different aryl hydrazides to form morpholine hydrazones scaffold（1-17）. The in vitro anticancer potential of all these compounds was checked against human cancer cell lines like Hep G2（human hepatocellular liver carcinoma） and MCF-7（human breast adenocarcinoma）. Analogs 13 had similar substantial cytotoxic effects towards Hep G2 with IC_（50） value 6.31±1.03μmmol/L when compared with the standard Doxorubicin（IC_（50）value 6.00±0.80μmmol/L）; while compounds 5,8 and 9 showed potent cytotoxicity against MCF-7 with IC_（50） value 7.08±0.42μmmol/L, 1.26±0.34μmmol/L and11.22±0.22μmmol/L respectively when compared with the standard Tamoxifen（IC_（50）= 11.00±0.40μmol/L）. Molecular docking studies also performed to understand the binding interaction.

Post-Traumatic Spinal Meningioma: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

Post-traumatic meningioma is a matter of controversy with many reported cases of cranial post-traumatic meningioma and rare cases for such pathology in human spine. The author reports a 61-year-old woman who had post-traumatic spinal meningioma at the site of old traumatic fracture for 26 year after her initial trauma. The patient treated successfully with microsurgical resection and posterior fusion with improvement of here recent weakness. The author reviews the literatures for similar cases as well as reviews the controversies regarding the development of post-traumatic meningiomas.

Identification of Phaeoacremonium aleophillum Phytotoxin Decline Platanus Trees Platanus occidentalies L.

The genus Phaeoacremonium is associated die-back of various woody hosts. In this study, Phaeoaeremonium specie was isolated from necrotic woody tissue of Platanus occidentalies L. （Platanus）. Morphological and cultural characteristics were used to identify the species, which known, and being described as Phaeoacremonium aleophillum. This is the first report on identifying Phaeoacremonium aleophillum from Platanus in Iraq, previously reports accommodate Cephalosporium acremonium from Platanus trees. This specie is able to produce toxic metabolites. Applications of P. aleophillum crude and cell-free filtrates induced severe chlorosis and necrosis on Platanus leaves after 24 hours of treatment with P. aleophillum culture filtrate. A novel phytotoxin was isolated from P. aleophillurn and culture filtrate was identified as galactouronic acid.

Carotid Body Tumours: A Review

The carotid body is a small structure weighing 12 mg located in the adventitia of carotid artery bifurcation acting as a chemoreceptor. Carotid body tumour (CBT);formerly known as chemodectoma is a rare, highly vascular, mostly benign tumour arising from the paraganglia of carotid body;hence, the name (carotid paraganglioma). The high vascularity and proximity to cranial nerves and major vessels make this tumour a surgical challenge. Abundant literature has been written about CBT in the last century with a continuous debate regarding its etiology, natural history, biological behavior, proper technique of excision, and the morbidity and mortality associated with its resection. The purpose of this review article is to simplify understanding the basic and clinical aspects of this challenging neoplasm.

The rapid growth of Internet of Things(IoT)devices has brought numerous benefits to the interconnected ***,the ubiquitous nature of IoT networks exposes them to various security threats,including anomaly intrusion *** addition,IoT devices generate a high volume of unstructured *** intrusion detection systems often struggle to cope with the unique characteristics of IoT networks,such as resource constraints and heterogeneous data *** the unpredictable nature of network technologies and diverse intrusion methods,conventional machine-learning approaches seem to lack *** numerous research domains,deep learning techniques have demonstrated their capability to precisely detect *** study designs and enhances a novel anomaly-based intrusion detection system(AIDS)for IoT ***,a Sparse Autoencoder(SAE)is applied to reduce the high dimension and get a significant data representation by calculating the reconstructed ***,the Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)technique is employed to create a binary classification *** proposed SAE-CNN approach is validated using the Bot-IoT *** proposed models exceed the performance of the existing deep learning approach in the literature with an accuracy of 99.9%,precision of 99.9%,recall of 100%,F1 of 99.9%,False Positive Rate(FPR)of 0.0003,and True Positive Rate(TPR)of *** addition,alternative metrics,such as training and testing durations,indicated that SAE-CNN performs better.

Effects of type of packaging material on physicochemical and sensory properties of olive oil

This study was performed to evaluate changes in physicochemical and sensory attributes of olive oil stored in different packaging materials for up to 60 *** olive oil samples from a local company(Ajlon-Jordan)were stored in containers made from glass,tinplate,and plastic for two months at 25℃with quality attributes analyzed at selected time *** results showed that as time increased from 0 to 60 days the acidity and peroxide values(PV)of the oil increased while antioxidant activities,total phenolics,and sensory attributes *** samples in the glass container exhibited the lowest acidity(1.25%to 1.53%)and PV(6.13 to 7.17 milliequivalents meq/kg)values followed by those stored in the plastic and tinplate *** lowest antioxidant activities and total phenolics values were recorded in oil from the tinplate container while no significant difference(p≤0.05)was found for samples in the glass and plastic *** oil in the tinplate container had the highest values of sedimentation(0.17%).The glass container provided the best protection to oil samples as indicated by the best sensory properties,followed by plastic and tinplate containers.
