A two-dimensional （2D） finite element analysis was carried out to assess the time-dependent behavior of single vertical pile embedded in elasto-plastic soil. The finite element analyses were carried out using the linear elastic model for the structure of the pile, while the Mohr-Coulomb model was used for representing the soil behavior surrounding the pile. The study includes cohesionless and cohesive soil to assess the lateral response of pile in the two types of soil. The whole geoteehnical model is suitable for problem of piles to determine the design quantities such as lateral deformation, lateral soil stress and its variation with time. The model is verified based on the results of published cases and there is good comparison between the results of published ease and the present simulation model. It is found that, the pile in cohesionless soil has more resistance in the rapid loading and less one in the long term loading. On the other hand, the pile in cohesive soil shows opposite behavior.

The current study describes the application of a new extraction method for efficient uranium adsorption via cost-effective hydrazine-impregnated activated *** experimental parameters such as time, adsorbent weight, temperature(°C), and uranium concentration were thoroughly investigated. The synthesized adsorbent was characterized via X-ray diffraction, Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. The results showed86% uranium extraction under optimized conditions(20% P2O5 at 25 °C, 120 min). The obtained findings fit well with thermodynamic and isothermal(Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms) models and pseudo second-order kinetics. In thermodynamic studies, the negative sign of(DG°) specified the spontaneity of process, the negative sign of(DH°) revealed endothermicity, and the positive sign of(DS°) showed high randomness after adsorption.

Timely detection and control of airborne disease is important to improve productivity. This study proposed a novel approach that utilizes micro polarization image features and a backpropagation neural network (BPNN) to classify and identify airborne disease spores in a greenhouse setting. Firstly, disease spores were collected in the greenhouse, and their surface morphological parameters were analyzed. Subsequently, the micropolarization imaging system for disease spores was established, and the micropolarization images of airborne disease spores from greenhouse crops were collected. Then the micropolarization images of airborne disease spores were processed, and the image features of polarization degree and polarization angle of disease spores were extracted. Finally, a disease spore classification model based on the BPNN was ultimately developed. The results showed that the texture position of the surface of the three disease spores was inconsistent, and the texture also showed an irregular shape. Texture information was present on the longitudinal and transverse axes, with the longitudinal axis exhibiting more uneven texture information. The polarization-degree images of the three disease spores exhibit variations in their representation within the entirety of the beam information. The disease spore polarization angle image exhibited the maximum levels of contrast and entropy when the Gabor filter’s direction was set to π/15. The recognition accuracy of cucumber downy mildew spores, tomato gray mildew spores, and cucumber powdery mildew spores were 75.00%, 83.33%, and 96.67%, respectively. The average recognition accuracy of disease spores was 86.67% based on BPNN and micropolarization image features. This study can provide a novel method for the detection of plant disease spores in the greenhouse.

Objectives Thrombotic episodes occurred frequently in beta-thalassemia major (BTM) patients, leading to hypercoagulability of plasma. Protein Z (PZ) is a vitamin-K-dependent anti-coagulation factor that plays a role in the human homeostatic process. The objective of the current study is to investigate the distribution pattern of PZ plasma concentrations between BTM patients and the normal population in Ahvaz city, the center of Khuzestan province, southwest of *** and Methods Forty confirmed BTM patients and 40 healthy volunteers were evaluated for complete blood count (CBC) indices and PZ plasma levels. CBC samples were measured using an automated cell counter, and PZ was assayed with an immunoassay method. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS software. The ROC curve and binary logistic regression estimated the sensitivity, specificity, and Odd’s ratio for PZ *** The mean±SD of the PZ plasma level in normal individuals was 1.68±0.63 μg/mL, and in BTM patients, it was 1.10±0.52 μg/mL. This shows a significant reduction of PZ in BTM patients statistically (CI = 0.99; p<0.001). Further, the mean±SD of the PZ plasma levels in BTM patients who received washed red blood cells was not significantly different from that of patients undergoing packed red blood cell therapy (CI = 0.95; p = 0.320). The area under the curve (AUC) for PZ was 0.759 (p = 0.00). The cut-off value = 1.4 μg/mL of the PZ plasma level had at least 70% sensitivity and specificity in BTM *** Several epidemiologic studies have shown thromboembolism episodes in BTM patients. In the current study, PZ was reduced significantly in *** We noticed that BTMs have lower plasma PZ concentration might be predisposed to BTM.

Macro and Micromorphological Studies on Seven Species of <i>Heliotropium</i>L. (Boraginaceae Juss.) in South West of Saudi Arabia

Genus Heliotropium L. (Heliotropiaceae) in south west of Saudi Arabia has been studied;seven species of H. arbainense Fresen, H. longiflorum (D.C.) Jauber & Spach, H. petrocarpum Hockst & Steud, H. strigosium Willd, H. zeylanicum Lam., H. jizanense Al-Turki and H. lasiocarpum Fisch were collected, recognized, typed and nomenclatured. The most valuable characters were those of macro and distinct micromorphological data such as stomata, hairs, pollen grains and stem anatomy. Light microscopy has been used in these studies. From the obtained results, trichomes and pollen grains data in addition to stem anatomy indicated good taxonomic tools to differentiate between species of this genus. Different traditional measurements were strikingly also helpful for the discrimination of species. H. longiflorum was characterized by distinctive data such as prominent anatomical information, P/E (1.8 μm) in addition to presence of spindle hair which in turn can be separated as a taxonomic level. Also, the results revealed a complete affinity between the two species of H. jizanense and H. lasiocarpum. An artificial key is provided for the differentiation between the studied species.
