Influence of Bleaching Powder on the Quality of Giant Freshwater Prawn (<i>Macrobrachium rosenbergii</i>)

Calcium hypochlorite commercially known as bleaching powder is used as a bleaching agent in shrimp processing industries in many countries and known to effect biochemical alteration in shrimp muscle. Studies were, therefore, undertaken to determine their effect in different concentrations viz., 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 ppm with different time intervals on the quality of head-on, headless shell-on and peeled giant freshwater prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) by determining biochemical and organoleptic aspects. Myofibrillar protein solubility of fresh head-on, headless shell-on and peeled samples were 90.5%, 90% and 88%, respectively indicating a gradual decrease in protein solubility with increasing concentration of bleaching powder. Decrease in protein solubility was also higher in samples kept at longer duration in different concentration of bleaching powder. At a given concentration of 50 ppm for 30 min treatment, the loss of myofibrillar protein was higher (26.14%) in peeled samples than those of head-on and headless shell-on samples (20.44% and 21.11%). Shelf life of bleaching powder treated prawn samples was found to be reduced to 4 - 5 days in iced condition compared to 6 - 7 days for control samples. Peeled samples were also found to be more susceptible to bleaching powder than that of head-on and headless shell-on samples.

Clinical and Radiological Localization of Language Dysfunctions in Acute Ischemic Stroke

Objective: To study the effect of cerebral ischemic vascular insult on the localization of language areas as regard to automatic speech, initiation, and mutism. Materials and Methods: Seventy ischemic stroke patients were selected within the first 48 h of the onset of stroke with left hemispheric stroke with aphasia. Inclusion criteria: any age above seven years, both sexes, first ever clinical stroke, admitted within the first 2 days of stroke insult. Patients underwent careful history taking, neurological examination, routine laboratory investigations, echo cardiography, and carotid duplex and language assessments. Results: Automatic speech disorders were mainly seen along left insular, left supramarginal and left frontal inferior orbital lesions. Initiation difficulty is seen mainly along as left insular, left temporal superior and left periventricular lesions. Mutism is seen along left external capsule, left internal capsule, left pallidum, left frontal inferior orbital and left inferior trigone lesions. Conclusions: Deep periventricular white matter and insular area in the dominant hemisphere play an important role in many language tasks. Thus aphasia is not a mere cortical function.

根据1972年至2000年的时间序列数据,我们考察了印度尼西亚、马来西亚、菲律宾以及泰国等东南亚四国实际汇率波动对私人总投资的影响.由于非平稳的时间序列数据可能导致伪回归,所以我们采用扩展了的Dickey-Fuller检验和Phillips-perron检验,对时间序列进行平稳性检验.在获得平稳的时间序列后,再对其进行共积性检验,检验的结果排除了非共积性的假设,因此制定出了一个误差校正模型,并对该模型加以评价.评价的结果表明实际汇率波动与私人总投资之间存在着一种不确定的实证关系.

Smartphone ownership among adolescents is getting common in this decade especially in Malaysia;Adolescent are strongly devoted to their smartphone and this may lead to smartphone *** have reported that smartphone addiction has become an emerging social and health problem especially among the youth in many countries however there is lack of study among adolescents in *** study aimed to examine the prevalence and factors associated with smartphone addiction among adolescents in *** was a cross-sectional study involving adolescents from 15 primary care clinics throughout the *** were assessed on their smartphone activities using the Malaysian short version of the Smartphone addiction scale(SAS-M-SV).Multiple logistic regression was used to determine the predictors of smartphone addiction among *** study was conducted among 921 adolescents with 49.6%male(n=457).The mean age of adolescents was 16.4±2.4 *** ethnicity distribution were 74.6%Malay,7.3%Chinese,4.7%Indian and 13.4%other *** prevalence of smartphone addiction was 37.1%(342/921);37.4%in male and 36.9%in *** on multiple logistic regression analysis,longer duration of smartphone use per week was associated with higher odds of smartphone addiction among adolescent(odd ratio=1.005%,95%confidence interval=1.000–1.009,p-value=0.039).Smartphone addiction is present in nearly four in ten adolescents in *** who spend longer duration in smartphone usage per week were associated with higher odds of having smartphone *** should be more alert and vigilant about this ***,parents should limit their children from spending too much of time with smartphone in order to prevent their children from getting smartphone addiction.

The coronavirus disease pandemic caught many pediatric hospitals unpreparedand has forced pediatric healthcare systems to scramble as they examine and planfor the optimal allocation of medical resources for the highest priority *** is limited data describing pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) preparednessand their health worker *** describe the current coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) preparedness effortsamong a set of PICUs within a simulation-based network *** A cross-sectional multi-center national survey of PICU medical director(s) fromchildren’s hospitals across the United States. The questionnaire was developedand reviewed by physicians with expertise in pediatric critical care, disasterreadiness, human factors, and survey development. Thirty-five children’shospitals were identified for recruitment through a long-established nationalresearch network. The questions focused on six themes: (1) PICU and medicaldirector demographics;(2) Pediatric patient flow during the pandemic;(3)Changes to the staffing models related to the pandemic;(4) Use of personalprotective equipment (PPE);(5) Changes in clinical practice and innovations;and(6) Current modalities of training including *** report on survey responses from 22 of 35 PICUs (63%). The majority of PICUswere located within children’s hospitals (87%). All PICUs cared for pediatricpatients with COVID-19 at the time of the survey. The majority of PICUs (83.4%)witnessed decreases in non-COVID-19 patients, 43% had COVID-19 dedicatedunits, and 74.6% pivoted to accept adult COVID-19 patients. All PICUsimplemented changes to their staffing models with the most common changesbeing changes in COVID-19 patient room assignment in 50% of surveyed PICUsand introducing remote patient monitoring in 36% of the PICU units. Study of Copper Thin Films Resistivity by Using Van der Pauw Method at Low Frequencies

The objective of this work research is the use of four-point measurements and so-called Van Der Pauw methods in measuring the resistivity of copper thin films widely used in the manufacture of planar components such as inductor and others. Aligned configuration and square configuration are commonly used to measure thin films resistivity before use. But differences in values between the two configurations according to frequency and thickness were observed according to the authors. Measurements with both configurations on the same thin films must make it possible to know measurements evolution as a function of frequency and thickness. The observation of measuring frequency ranges of each configuration and the minimum thicknesses to have solid copper resistivity are the main contributions of the paper. This electrical characterization is carried out on copper thin films deposited on alumina substrates (50 mm × 20 mm × 635 μm) using RF sputtering technique. Copper thin films with various thicknesses (3.3 μm, 3.6 μm and 5.2 μm) were characterized. Low-frequency electrical characterization of these thin films was performed by four-point measurement method and using an HP 4284A type LCRmeter over the frequency range of 20 Hz to 1 MHz. Van der Pauw’s method was used to calculate resistivity. These studies allowed us to know influence of measurement configurations and influence of parameters such as frequency and thickness of the copper thin films on resistivity.

Microbiological Status and Nutritional Composition of Spices Used in Food Preparation

The present study showed significant initial microbial load, as well nutritional value of ten spices used widely across the world in food preparation. The microbiological tests demonstrated that sumac and cloves had the highest antimicrobial activity with respect to total plate counting and spore forming count. Results showed that chemical composition of the spices and herbs varied significantly. Dry matter content ranged between 83.6% and 92.4%. The highest ash content 10.4% was found in sweet cumin, protein 21.2% in cumin, fat 19.7% in sumac, fiber 59.2% in turmeric and carbohydrates 27.3% in sumac. These spices were also differing in their minerals content. Substantial amounts of Ca, Na, K and Mg were found, while Cu, Fe, P, Mn and Zn were present in trace amounts in all investigated spices.

Chromatographic Analysis of Thiophenes in Calli and Suspension Cultures of Tagets spp.

The thiophene isomer fractions were investigated by TLC （thin layer chromatography） and GLC （gas liquid chromatography）. The TLC analysis revealed that, 5-（4-acetoxy-l-butynyl）-2,2-bithenyl （BBTOAc, Rf 0.78 I）; 5-（3-buten-l-ynyl）-2,2-bithineyl （BBT, Rf 0.39 II） and 2,2,5,2-oc-terthienyl （∝-T, Rf 0.32 III） were detected in extracts of leaf, stem and root calli or suspension cultures of Tagetes erecta and T. patula as well as leaf cell culture of T. patula which treated with DL-tryptophan under light or dark conditions. The GLC quantitative analysis of thiophenes in subjected revealed that the percentage distribution of the major thiophenes in all the analysed samples were determined as follows： BBT II 〉 ∝ -TllI 〉 BBTOAc I. Another thiophene was determined in relatively small amounts and found to be 5-（3-penten-l-ynyl）-2,2-bithienyl （PBT IV）. Other thiophenes were quantitated in trace amounts with unidentified or unknown chemical structure from the investigated extracts.
