Wireless sensor network(WSN)is effective for monitoring the target environment,which consists of a large number of sensor nodes of limited *** efficient medium access control(MAC)protocol is thus imperative to maximize the energy efficiency and performance of *** most existing MAC protocols are based on the scheduling of sleep and active period of the nodes,and do not consider the relationship between the load condition and *** this paper a novel scheme is proposed to properly determine the duty cycle of the WSN nodes according to the load,which employs the Q-leaming technique and function approximation with linear *** allows low-latency energy-efficient scheduling for a wide range of traffic conditions,and effectively overcomes the limitation of Q-learning with the problem of continuous state-action ***3 simulation reveals that the proposed scheme significantly improves the throughput,latency,and energy efficiency compared to the existing fully active scheme and S-MAC.

Edible insects have been attracting significant attention not only for their nutritional superiority but also for their excellent bio-functional *** this study,the apoptotic protective effects of water-soluble protein(WPB)and salt-soluble protein(SPB)extracts derived from Protaetia brevitarsis against hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))-induced oxidative stress in C2C12 cells were *** and SPB were confirmed to exhibit radical scavenging and ferric-ion reducing *** addition,WPB and SPB treatments effectively restored the decreased cell viability of the C2C12 cells induced by H2O2 treatment,and showcased protective effects against apoptosis and mitochondrial dysfunction by regulating the expressions of pro-and anti-apoptotic ***,our data indicated that protein extracts from Protaetia brevitarsis could be beneficial for the prevention and treatment of diseases associated with apoptosis induced by oxidative stress.

Ubiquitin regulatory X(UBX)domain-containing protein 6(UBXN6)is an essential cofactor for the activity of the valosin-containing protein p97,an adenosine triphosphatase associated with diverse cellular ***,its role in cells of the innate immune system remains largely *** this study,we report that UBXN6 is upregulated in humans with sepsis and may serve as a pivotal regulator of inflammatory responses via the activation of ***,the upregulation of UBXN6 in sepsis patients was negatively correlated with inflammatory gene profiles but positively correlated with the expression of Forkhead box O3,an autophagy-driving transcription *** with those of control mice,the macrophages of mice subjected to myeloid cell-specific UBXN6 depletion exhibited exacerbated inflammation,increased mitochondrial oxidative stress,and greater impairment of autophagy and endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation ***6-deficient macrophages also exhibited immunometabolic remodeling,characterized by a shift to aerobic glycolysis and elevated levels of branched-chain amino *** metabolic shifts amplify mammalian target of rapamycin pathway signaling,in turn reducing the nuclear translocation of the transcription factor EB and impairing lysosomal ***,these data reveal that UBXN6 serves as an activator of autophagy and regulates inflammation to maintain immune system suppression during human sepsis.

In this study,Tteokgalbi,a meat product,was prepared with edible insect larvae extracts and its antioxidant,physiochemical,and microbial properties were evaluated during refrigerated *** prepared with 2%*** and 2%*** showed the highest radical-scavenging activity and metal-chelating activity,but the lowest thiobarbituric acid reactive substance(TBARS)value,among the treatments(P<0.05).In addition,those antioxidant activities were the lowest and the TBARS value was the highest in control Tteokgalbi(P<0.05)during all storage *** prepared with 2%*** showed the highest brownness index,pH,and cooking yield,but the lowest shear force value(P<0.05).During all storage days,the total aerobic bacteria level did not differ significantly among the *** conclusion,*** extracts(2%)were effective as antioxidants,inhibiting lipid oxidation,and improving the quality properties of Tteokgalbi,without negatively affecting microbial *** results confirmed that the edible insect extracts have industrial value as a food additive.

Background:Immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICIs)are effective in a subset of patients with metastatic solid ***,the patients who would benefit most from ICIs in biliary tract cancer(BTC)are still *** and methods:We molecularly characterized tissues and blood from 32 patients with metastatic BTC treated with the ICI pembrolizumab as second-line ***:All patients had microsatellite stable(MSS)type *** of the 32 patients achieved partial response(PR),with an objective response rate(ORR)of 9.4%(95%confidence interval[CI],2.0–25.2)and nine showed stable disease(SD),exhibiting a disease control rate(DCR)of 37.5%(95%CI,21.1–56.3).For the 31 patients who had access to PD-1 ligand 1(PD-L1)combined positive score(CPS)testing(cut-off value≥1%),the ORR was not different between those who had PD-L1-positive(PD-L1+;1/11,9.1%)and PDL1-(2/20,10.0%)tumors(p=1.000).The tumor mutational burden(TMB)of PD-L1+BTC was comparable to that of PD-L1-BTC(p=0.630).TMB and any exonic somatic mutations were also not predictive of pembrolizumab *** analysis of blood and tumor samples demonstrated a relatively high natural killer(NK)cell proportion in the peripheral blood before pembrolizumab treatment in patients who achieved tumor ***,the tumors of these patients presented high enrichment scores for NK cells,antitumor cytokines,and Th1 signatures,and a low enrichment score for cancer-associated ***:This study shows the molecular characteristics associated with the efficacy of pembrolizumab in BTC of the MSS type.

Parkinson's disease has long been considered a disorder that primarily affects the brain,as it is defined by the dopaminergic neurodegeneration in the substantia nigra and the brain accumulation of Lewy bodies containingα-synuclein *** recent decades,however,accumulating research has revealed that Parkinson's disease also involves the gut and uncovered an intimate and important bidirectional link between the brain and the gut,called the“gut–brain axis.”Numerous clinical studies demonstrate that gut dysfunction frequently precedes motor symptoms in Parkinson's disease patients,with findings including impaired intestinal permeability,heightened inflammation,and distinct gut microbiome profiles and ***,α-synuclein deposition has been consistently observed in the gut of Parkinson's disease patients,suggesting a potential role in disease ***,individuals with vagotomy have a reduced Parkinson's disease *** these observations,researchers have hypothesized thatα-synuclein accumulation may initiate in the gut and subsequently propagate to the central dopaminergic neurons through the gut–brain axis,leading to Parkinson's *** review comprehensively examines the gut's involvement in Parkinson's disease,focusing on the concept of a gut-origin for the *** also examine the interplay between altered gut-related factors and the accumulation of pathologicalα-synuclein in the gut of Parkinson's disease *** the accessibility of the gut to both dietary and pharmacological interventions,targeting gut-localizedα-synuclein represents a promising avenue for developing effective Parkinson's disease therapies.

To emulate the functionality of the human retina and achieve a neuromorphic visual system,the development of a photonic synapse capable of multispectral color discrimination is of paramount ***,attaining robust color discrimination across a wide intensity range,even irrespective of medium limitations in the channel layer,poses a significant ***,we propose an approach that can bestow the color-discriminating synaptic functionality upon a three-terminal transistor flash memory even with enhanced discriminating *** incorporating the strong induced dipole moment effect at the excitation,modulated by the wavelength of the incident light,into the floating gate,we achieve outstanding RGB color-discriminating synaptic functionality within a remarkable intensity range spanning from 0.05 to 40 mW cm^(-2).This approach is not restricted to a specific medium in the channel layer,thereby enhancing its *** effectiveness of this color-discriminating synaptic functionality is demonstrated through visual pre-processing of a photonic synapse array,involving the differentiation of RGB channels and the enhancement of image contrast with noise ***,a convolutional neural network can achieve an impressive inference accuracy of over 94%for Canadian-Institute-For-Advanced-Research-10 colorful image recognition task after the *** proposed approach offers a promising solution for achieving robust and versatile RGB color discrimination in photonic synapses,enabling significant advancements in artificial visual systems.
