An electronic nose(e-nose)is a device that can detect and recognize odors and flavors using a sensor *** has received considerable interest in the past decade because it is required in several areas such as health care,environmental monitoring,industrial applications,automobile,food storage,and ***,there are still obstacles in developing a portable e-nose that can be used for a wide variety of *** practical applications of an e-nose,it is necessary to collect a massive amount of data from various sensing materials that can transduce interactions with molecules reliably and analyze them via pattern *** addition,the possibility of miniaturizing the e-nose and operating it with low power consumption should be ***,it should work efficiently over a long period of *** satisfy these requirements,several different chemoresistive material platforms including metal oxides,organics such as polymers and carbonbased materials,and two-dimensional materials were investigated as sensor elements for an *** an individual material has limited selectivity,there is a continuing effort to improve the selectivity and gas sensing properties through surface decoration and compositional and structural *** produce a reliable e-nose,which can be used for practical applications,researches in various fields have to be *** paper reviews the progress of research on e-noses based on a chemoresistive gas sensor array and discusses the inherent challenges and potential solutions.

Micro-light-emitting diodes(μLEDs)have gained significant interest as an activation source for gas sensors owing to their advantages,including room temperature operation and low power ***,despite these benefits,challenges still exist such as a limited range of detectable gases and slow *** this study,we present a blueμLED-integrated light-activated gas sensor array based on SnO_(2)nanoparticles(NPs)that exhibit excellent sensitivity,tunable selectivity,and rapid detection with micro-watt level power *** optimal power forμLED is observed at the highest gas response,supported by finite-difference time-domain ***,we first report the visible light-activated selective detection of reducing gases using noble metal-decorated SnO_(2)*** noble metals induce catalytic interaction with reducing gases,clearly distinguishing NH3,H2,and ***-time gas monitoring based on a fully hardwareimplemented light-activated sensing array was demonstrated,opening up new avenues for advancements in light-activated electronic nose technologies.

Transcriptomic Responses of Garlic(Allium sativum L.)to Heat and Drought Stresses

Heat and drought are prominent abiotic stressors that limit crop productivity and yield,particularly concerning climate change;therefore,understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying plant stress responses is crucial for stress-tolerant crop *** study conducted a transcriptomic analysis to elucidate how garlic(Allium sativum L.)responds to drought and heat stress *** libraries were generated to identify differentially expressed genes(DEGs)induced by drought and heat *** classification and clustering analysis of DEGs revealed stress-specific gene expression ***,cell wall-related genes were implicated in the drought response,whereas heat stress was associated with heat stress transcription factors and heat shock *** results provide essential information for future studies on stress tolerances in garlic.

Electrochemically metal-doped reduced graphene oxide films:Properties and applications

The fine control of doping levels in graphene materials such as reduced graphene oxide(RGO)is important to properly manipulate their ambipolar transport characteristics for various device ***,conventional doping methods involve complex chemical reactions,large-scale doping processes,and poor ***,a simple and controllable electrochemical doping treatment(EDT),performed via the conductive channels created at the RGO surface by the application of an electric field,is introduced to tailor the electrical properties of RGO films.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy measurements are performed to detect the presence of Ni atoms in RGO films after the EDT(EDT-RGO).Then,EDT-RGO field-effect transistors(FETs)are fabricated with different doping areas(0 to 100%fractional area)on the RGO active channel to investigate the effect and selective-area doping capability of the *** to p-type doping compensation by the intercalated Ni atoms,the electron mobility of the EDT-RGO FET decreases from 1.40 to 0.12 cm2 V-1s-1 compared with that of the undoped RGO-FET,leading to the conversion from ambipolar to unipolar p-type transfer characteristics.

Endoscopic prevention of post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography pancreatitis

Post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP) pancreatitis(PEP) is not an uncommon adverse event but may be an avoidable complication. Although pancreatitis of severe grade is reported in 0.1%-0.5% of ERCP patients, a serious clinical course may be lethal. For prevention of severe PEP, patient risk stratification, appropriate selection of patients using noninvasive diagnostic imaging methods such as magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography or endoscopic ultrasonography(EUS), and avoidance of unnecessary invasive procedures, are important measures to be taken before any procedure. Pharmacological prevention is also commonly attempted but is usually ineffective. No ideal agent has not yet been found and the available data conflict. Currently, rectal non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are used to prevent PEP in high-risk patients, but additional studies using larger numbers of subjects are necessary to confirm any prophylactic effect. In this review, we focus on endoscopic procedures seeking to prevent or decrease the severity of PEP. Among various cannulation methods, wire-guided cannulation,precut fistulotomy,and transpancreatic septostomy are *** pancreatic stent placement,which is the best-known prophylactic method,is reviewed with reference to the ideal stent type,adequate duration of stent placement,and stentrelated ***,we comment on other treatment alternatives,and make the point that further advances in EUS-guided techniques may afford useful PEP prophylaxis.

Application of direct steam injection system to minimize browning of white radish(Raphanus sativus)broth during sterilization

Direct steam injection(DSI)was applied to minimize the quality changes of white radish(Raphanus sativus)broth during *** study compared the degree of browning of white radish broth from a retort sterilization system and a DSI *** quality changes after thermal treatments,such as retorting and DSI,were evaluated by Lab color values,the browning index(BI)and sensory *** the volume of the retort pouch increased,the thermal processing time *** increases of a and b values,color difference and BI were *** the retort sterilization,the DSI treatment showed no significant differences in color properties of the radish broth with a wide range of sterilization *** highest sensory score among the DSI treated samples was observed at the lowest sterilization temperature(125℃).The results demonstrated that the DSI treatment showed a higher stability in the quality associated with the browning reaction,such as the color indices and BI because the DSI process rapidly increased the temperature of the radish broth by transferring the latent heat of steam to the fluid.

Moxibustion Therapy in Traditional Mongolian Medicine

From the medical history of traditional Eastern Asian and Tibetan medicine, the origin and development of moxibustion seems to be closely related to Mongolia. To explore the current clinical practice of moxibustion in Mongolia, we visited a teaching hospital, the Traditional Medical Science, Technology and Production Corporation of Mongolia, in February 2014. Many types of moxibustion are found to be used, and various modalities and methods are practiced based on the principles of traditional Mongolian medicine. In particular, Mongolian drug moxibustion, which uses small butter-warmed bags packed with powdered aromatic herbs instead of moxa cones, is a unique moxibustion technique not found in other countries. In this paper, we introduce the clinical practice of moxibustion, specifically Mongolian drug moxibustion in Mongolia.

When aWindows-based system is used for an exceedingly long time,its performance degrades,and the error occurrence rate tends to *** is generally called system *** investigate the reasons for system aging,various studies have been conducted within the range of the operating system kernel to the user ***,finding an accurate reason for system performance degradation remains challenging research *** this study,system monitoring was conducted by dividing a system into‘before software installation,’‘after software installation,’and‘after software removal.’We confirmed that when a software installed in a system is removed,various system elements,such as storage and memory,are not restored to the level prior to the software ***,we established a hypothesis regarding the performance degradation of a computer system owing to repeated software installation/removal operations,investigated the correlation between system aging and repeated software installation/removal operations,and proposed a system aging analysis framework for analyzing the reason behind system *** the proposed system aging analysis framework,we aim to forcibly age a Windows-based system by repeating the software installation/removal operation by utilizing the system forced aging *** framework identifies the elements affecting system performance through a differential data analysis of the system time-series data extracted by the system performance extraction and system component snapshot ***,the aging analysis framework presented in this study is expected to be effectively utilized as an index for studying system aging.

Gate-versus defect-induced voltage drop and negative differential resistance in vertical graphene heterostructures

To enable the computer-aided design of vertically stacked two-dimensional(2D)van der Waals(vdW)heterostructure devices,we here introduce a non-equilibrium first-principles simulation method based on the multi-space constrained-search density functional *** it to graphene/few-layer hBN/graphene field-effect transistors,we show that the negative differential resistance(NDR)characteristics can be produced not only from the gating-induced mismatch between two graphene Dirac cones in energy-momentum space but from the bias-dependent energetic shift of defect ***,for a carbon atom substituted for a nitrogen atom(C_(N))within inner hBN layers,the increase of bias voltage is found to induce a self-consistent electron filling of in-gap C_(N)states,which in turn changes voltage drop profiles and produces symmetric NDR *** the CN placed on outer hBN layers,however,the pinning of C_(N)states to nearby graphene significantly modifies device characteristics,demonstrating the critical impact of atomic details for 2D vdW devices.

Process analysis of direct laser melting to fabricate layered hybrid beads

The successful fabrication of layered hybrid beads by DLM process is limited by dissimilar melting ranges of different *** the application of DLM process into manufacturing industries,target mechanical properties of final product must be *** analysis was performed for the DLM fabrication of layered hybrid beads by using stainless steel (SS 316L) and titanium *** the analysis of fabrication characteristics,single hybrid bead was formed using SS316L powder onto the base plate and then Ti powder was melted onto the previous melted *** addition,multi-layer hybrid beads were fabricated for the analysis of the layering effects between *** these studies,the effects of the processing parameters,such as laser power,scan rate and scan line spacing on surface morphology were characterized and optimum processing conditions for the DLM fabrication of layered hybrid beads were developed.
