Singular limit is investigated for reaction-diffusion equations with an additive noise in a bounded domain of R^2. The solution converges to one of the two stable phases {+1, -1} determined from the reaction term; accordingly a phase separation curve is generated in the limit. We shall derive a randomly perturbed motion by curvature for the dynamics of the phase separation curve.

Nonlocalized clustering and evolution of cluster structure in nuclei

We explain various facets of the THSR(Tohsaki-Horiuchi Schuck-Ropke)wave *** first discuss the THSR,wave function as a wave function of cluster-gas state,since the THSR,wave function was originally introduced to elucidate the 3a-condensate-like character of the Hoyle state(O2^+ state)of *** briefly review the cluster-model studies of the Hoyle state in 1970’s in order to explain how there emerged the idea to assign the a condensate character to the Hoyle *** then explain that the THSR wave function can describe very well also non-gaslike ordinary cluster states with spatial localization of *** fact means that the dynamical motion of clusters is of nonlocalized nature just as in gas-like states of clusters and the localization of clusters is due to the inter-cluster Pauli principle which is against the close approach of two *** nonlocalized cluster dynamics is formulated by the container model of cluster *** container model describes gas-like state and non-gaslike states as the solutions of the Hill Wheeler equation with respect to the size parameter of THSR wave function which is just the size parameter of the *** we notice that fact that the THSR wave function with the smallest value of size parameter is equivalent to the shell-model wave function,we see that the container model describes the evolution of cluster structure from the ground state with shell-model structure up to the gas-like cluster state via ordinary non-gaslike cluster *** the description of various cluster structure,more generation of THSR wave function have been introduced and we review some typical examples with their actual applications.

Decreased levels of plasma adiponectin associated with increased risk of colorectal cancer

AIM:To investigate the association between adiponectin levels and risk of colorectal adenoma and cancer (early and advanced).METHODS: A cross-sectional study in a cohort of hospital-based patients was conducted between January 2004 and March 2006 at Yamagata University Hospital. Male subjects, who had colorectal tumors detected by endoscopic examination, were enrolled according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Based on the T factor of the TNM system, intraepithelial carcinoma and submucosally invasive carcinoma were def ined as early cancer, and invasion into the muscularis propria or deeper was defined as advanced cancer. The plasma levels of glucose, insulin, total cholesterol, triglyceride, high sensitivity C-reactive protein, insulin like growth factor (IGF)-1, IGF binding protein-3, adiponectin, leptin, and resistin were measured. Each factor level was designated low or high, and the risk of adenoma or cancer was estimated by univariate and multivariate logistic regression ***: We enrolled 124 male subjects (47 with adenoma, 34 with early cancer, 17 with advanced cancer, and 26 without tumors as controls). In patients with adenoma, high triglyceride and low adiponectin were associated with a significant increase in the odds ratio (OR) by univariate analysis. Only a low adiponectin level was related to increased adenoma risk, with an adjusted OR for low level (<11 μg/mL) to high (≥11 μg/mL) of 5.762 (95% confidence interval (CI):1.683-19.739, P=0.005). In the patients with early cancer, high body mass index, high triglyceride, and low adiponectin were associated with a significant increase in OR in univariate analysis. Imultivariate analysis, only low adiponectin was significantly associated with early cancer, with an adjusted OR of 4.495 (95% CI:1.090-18.528, P=0.038). Nursing Activities at Health Surveys and Health Checkups during the Early Period of Operation of the Hiroshima ABCC—Oral History Study Based on Narratives of Three Japanese Nurses

Using an oral history approach, this study analyzed the narratives obtained from semi-structured interviews administered to three Japanese women who worked as nurses for the Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission (ABCC). The analysis of the data in the narratives showed details of the health surveys and health checkups conducted during the early period of operation of ABCC. During the early period of operation of ABCC some survivors showed negative behaviors toward the health surveys and health checkups at the ABCC. However, it can be inferred that dedicated nursing played an important role in alleviating the stress and emotional issues of survivors at the health surveys and health checkups. The findings of the study could be beneficial to research into nursing activities for patients exposed to radiation at the present day.

Analyses of Incidents of Institutional Food Service Practice Management for One Year in the Kitchen of a General Hospital, Chubu Region, Japan

This study aimed to assess the incidence of institutional food service practice management errors in the kitchen of a general hospital, Chubu region, Japan. Clarifying the cause of incidents of institutional food service operation can reduce institutional food service practice management errors. This is the first study to analyze incidents at a general hospital kitchen in Japan in English. Data were collected from incident reports over the course of one year, between October 1, 2011 and November 30, 2012. Forty two reports of incidents whose locations were the kitchen were analyzed, for example, incident dates, incident times, workloads, incident contents, incident causes, accident levels, and the presence or absence of negligence. The frequency of incidents for months, for each third of month, for day of week, for time of day, for workload levels of staff member, and for types of incidents were analyzed using chi-square test following Ryan multiple comparison. The incidents were more likely to occur at the start of the business year, during the 11：00 to 12：59 time blocks, and when staffs were busy. Breakdown of incident contents of＂foreign contamination （hair）＂ was 10 reports （24%）. To prevent incidents, new staff should also be trained to acquire skills to avoid making errors during food preparation, ensuring that there is a clear route for communicating changes in the number of hospitalized patients, and building a system that allows for changes to be made to the number of meals to be served and the content of those meals in an accurate and prompt fashion. Furthermore, work uniform should be changed promptly as such contamination can reportedly be improved by having workers wear a work cap.
