Integrating micro-optical components at the end facet of an optical fiber enables compact optics to shape the output beam(***,focusing,and coupling to free space elements or photonic integrated circuits).However,the scalability of this approach is a longstanding challenge as these components must be aligned onto individual fiber *** this paper,we propose a socket that enables easy slotting of fibers,self-alignment,and coupling onto micro-optical *** integrated socket can be detached from the substrate upon fiber insertion to create a stand-alone optical *** is done using nanoscale 3d printing via two-photon polymerization lithography onto glass substrates,which allows multiple sockets to be patterned in a single *** investigated variations in socket design and evaluated the performance of optical elements for telecom *** obtained an alignment accuracy of∼3.5μ*** socket designs can be customized for high efficiency chip to fiber coupling and extended to other spectral ranges for free-form optics.

The high temperature superconductors are ceramic materials with layers of Copper-oxide spaced by layers containing Barium and other atoms. The Yttrium compound is somewhat unique in that it has a regular crystal structure while the Lanthanum version is classified as a solid solution. The Yttrium compound is often called the 1-2-3 superconductor because of the ratios of its constituents. Lanthanum Zirconium Yttrium Barium Calcium Copper Oxide (LaZrYBaCaCuO) was prepared by the usual solid state reaction method. In order to show the viability of the proposed method, super-conducting powder was prepared in special furnace. The sample was analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRd), Particle size determination, SEM and EdX. The comparison of XRd results with JCPdS files confirmed the orthorhombic structure of the sample with a ≠ b ≠ c and α = β = γ = 90°. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) studies revealed that its particle size is in the nanometer range. It also confirmed the calculated value of particle size from debye Scherrer’s formula. EdX spectrum shows the elements of the sample. X-ray instrumental peak broadening analysis was used to evaluate the size and lattice strain by the Williamson-Hall Plot method.

With the discovery of high-TC superconducting materials like Yttrium Barium Cupric Oxide, Bismuth Strontium Calcium Copper Oxide and Thallium Calcium Barium Copper Oxide, tremendous interest has developed over the past two years in understanding these materials as well as utilizing them in a variety of applications. The thin films of these materials are expected to play an important role in the area of microelectronics, especially for interconnects in integrated circuits, Josephson junctions, magnetic field sensors and optical detectors. Here, the authors designed a new nanocrystalline ceramic type II high-TC superconductor, Gadolinium Barium Copper Oxide (GdBaCuO/GBCO). The GBCO perovskite phase structure was prepared by the conventional solid state thermochemical reaction technique involving mixing, milling, calcination and sintering. In GBCO system, the method for controlling microstructure and superconducting state is related to oxygen content consideration because small changes in oxygen concentration can often?lead to huge change in Tc. In order to show the viability of the proposed method, super-conducting powder was prepared in special furnace. The sample was analyzed by X-Ray diffraction (XRd), an indispensible non-destructive tool for structural materials characterization and quality control which makes use of the debye-Scherrer method. The comparison of XRd results with JCPdS files confirmed the orthorhombic structure of the sample. Micro-structural features are studied using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) which revealed that its particle size is in the nanometer range. It also confirmed the calculated value of particle size from debye Scherrer’s formula. EdX plot shows the presence of all the constituents. X-ray instrumental peak broadening analysis was used to evaluate the size and lattice strain by the Williamson-Hall Plot method.

X-ray crystallography is concerned with discovering and describing the crystal structure. High-temperature superconductivity in ceramic oxides is a new technology in which advances are occurring at a rapid pace. Here, the author describes some properties of a new nano crystalline ceramic type II superconductor, PbBaTiO. Type II superconductors are usually made of metal alloys or complex oxide ceramics. The PBT perovskite phase structure was prepared by the conventional solid state reaction technique. The sample was analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRd), Particle size determination, SEM and EdX. The comparison of XRd results with JCPdS files confirmed the tetragonal structure of the sample with a = b ≠ c and α = β = γ = 90°. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies revealed that its particle size was in the nanometer range. It also confirmed the calculated value of particle size from debye Scherrer’s formula. EdX spectrum shows the elements of the sample. X-ray instrumental peak broadening analysis was used to evaluate the size and lattice strain by the Williamson-Hall Plot method.

A BAC clone of MdV strain GX0101 with REV-LTR integration retained its pathogenicity

The complete genome of Marek's disease virus (MdV) strain GX0101, which was integrated with the LTR sequences of REV, was cloned in Escherichia coli as a bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC). BAC vector sequences were introduced into the US2 locus of the MdV genome by homologous recombination. The viral dNA containing the BAC vector was used to transform Escherichia coli strain of dH10B. Then the recombinant virus was successfully rescued by transfection of the recombinant BAC dNA into primary chicken embryo fibroblast (CEF). This BAC viral clone was named bac-GX0101. When the reconstituted virus was inoculated into 1-day-old birds, visceral tumors could be detected as early as 62 d post infection. There was no difference in growth ability and pathogenicity to birds between the BAC derived virus and its parental virus. The BAC derived virus maintained its oncogenicity and immunosuppressive effects. In conclusion, the complete genome of GX0101 strain was successfully cloned into BAC and the infectious clone was rescued. With the powerful BAC manipulation system, the infectious clone will provide a useful tool for further understanding the functional roles of the inserted REV-LTR sequence in the GX0101 strain of MdV.

designing of new peptide materials for biomedical and protein engineering applications are important. In the present work an attempt has been made to study the effect of d-Leu in collagen like tetra peptide on the structure and stability of peptide against enzymes and results are compared with its chiral counterpart L-form. Effect of replacement of L-Leu in Leu-Gly-Pro-Ala tetra peptide with d-Leu on structure has been studied using circular dichroic spectroscopy (Cd). Our findings suggest that, d-Leu substitution leads to conformational changes in Leu-Gly-Pro-Ala secondary structure from β-sheet to turns. L → d-Leu Configurational changes in Leu-Gly-Pro-Ala owes to enhanced thermal stability which has been substantiated through Cd and differential scanning calorimetry. Change in chirality of the leucine inhibits collagenolytic activity, which enables to design selective inhibition of proteases with greater specificity.

A systematic phylogenetic footprinting approach was performed to identify conserved transcription factor binding sites （TFBSs） in mammalian promoter regions using human, mouse and rat sequence alignments. We found that the score distributions of most binding site models did not follow the Gaussian distribution required by many statistical methods. Therefore, we performed an empirical test to establish the optimal threshold for each model. We gauged our computational predictions by comparing with previously known TFBSs in the PCK1 gene promoter of the cytosolic isoform of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase, and achieved a sensitivity of 75% and a specificity of approximately 32% Almost all known sites overlapped with predicted sites, and several new putative TFBSs were also identified. We validated a predicted SP1 binding site in the control of PCK1 transcription using gel shift and reporter assays. Finally, we applied our computational approach to the prediction of putative TFBSs within the promoter regions of all available RefSeq genes. Introduction: Standard procedures for surgical fixation of proximal femoral fractures (PFF) require an image intensifier which in developing countries remains a luxury. We hypothesized that, with a well-codified technique, the Watson Jones approach (WJA) without image intensifier nor traction table, can allow open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) of PFF using dynamic hip screw (dHS), with satisfactory outcome. Patients and methods: Forty one consecutive patients (mean age 59.5 ± 21.6 years, 61% males) who were followed in a Teaching Hospital for PFF treated by ORIF using the WJA and dHS from January 2016 to december 2020 were reassessed. The outcome measures were the quality of the reduction, the positioning of the implants, the tip-apex distance (tad), the rate and delay of consolidation, the functional results using Postel Merle d’Aubigné (PMA) score, the rate of surgical site infection (SSI) and the overall mortality. Logistic regression was used to determine factors associated with mechanical failure. Results: The mean follow-up period was 33.8 ± 15.0 months. Fracture reduction was good in 31 (75.6%) cases and acceptable in 8(19.5%) cases. Implant position was fair to good in 37 (90.2%) patients. The mean tad was 26.1 ± 3.9 mm. Three patients developed SSI. Consolidation was achieved in 38 (92.6%) patients. The functional results were good to excellent in 80.5% of patients. The overall mortality rate was 7.3%. There were an association between mechanical failure and osteoporosis (p = 0.04), fracture reduction (p = 0.003), and tad (p = 0.025). In multivariate logistic regression, no independent factors were predictive of mechanical failure. Conclusion: This study shows that ORIF using dHS for PFF via the Watson-Jones approach without an image intensifier can give satisfactory anatomical and functional outcomes in low-resource settings. The coastal dunes located near the Ashirmata region, south of Mandvi beach lies near the straight coast have been stud-ied by making use of sedimentological information and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) data. Sedimentological analy-sis reveals the NNW-SSE trending longitudinal dunes consists of well sorted fine sands with unimodal distribution pos-sibly formed by constant wind gust and also the point out to the origin of sediments from single source;mostly the sediments derived from Indus delta transported to beach by long shore drift and tidal waves, carried inland by local on-shore winds. The radargram confirms, the homogenous sand layers with paleosols at shallow depth slip faces are proba-bly formed due to extreme storm activity of Recent.
