BACKGROUND Appendiceal mucinous neoplasms(AMNs),although not classified as rare,are relatively uncommon tumors most often discovered incidentally during colorectal *** identification of AMNs is difficult due to non-specific sym-ptoms,overlapping tumor markers with other conditions,and the potential for *** underscores the urgent need for precision in diagnosis to pre-vent severe *** SUMMARY This case report describes the unexpected discovery and treatment of a low-grade AMN(LAMN)in a 74-year-old man undergoing laparoscopic hemicolectomy for transverse colon adenocarcinoma(AC).Preoperatively,non-specific gastroin-testinal symptoms and elevated tumor markers masked the presence of *** tumor,presumed to be an AMN peritoneal cyst intraoperatively,was con-firmed as LAMN through histopathological *** neoplasm exhibited mucin accumulation and a distinct immunohistochemical profile:Positive for Ho-meobox protein CDX-2,Cytokeratin 20,special AT-rich sequence-binding protein 2,and Mucin 2 but negative for cytokeratin 7 and Paired box gene *** profile aids in distinguishing appendiceal and ovarian mucinous *** recovery was uncomplicated,and the patient initiated adjuvant chemotherapy for the colon *** This case highlights the diagnostic complexity of AMNs,emphasizing the need for vigilant identification to avert potential complications,such as pseudomyxoma peritonei.

BACKGROUND Rectocutaneous fistulae are *** infection originates within the anal glands and subsequently extends into adjacent regions,ultimately resulting in fistula *** angiofibroma(CAF),also known as an angiomy ofibroblastoma-like tumor,is a rare benign soft tissue neoplasm predominantly observed in the scrotum,perineum,and inguinal area in males and in the vulva in *** describe the first documented case CAF that developed within a rectocutaneous fistula and manifested as a perineal *** SUMMARY in the outpatient setting,a 52-year-old male patient presented with a 2-year history of a growing perineal mass,accompanied by throbbing pain and minor scrotal *** examination revealed a soft,well-defined,non-tender mass at the left buttock that extended towards the perineum,without a visible *** initial assessment identified a soft tissue tumor,and the laboratory data were within normal *** and pelvic computed tomography(CT)revealed swelling of the abscess cavity that was linked to a rectal cutaneous fistula,with a track-like lesion measuring 6 cm×0.7 cm in the left perineal region and attached to the left *** examination found no significant inner orifices.A left medial gluteal incision revealed a thick-walled mass,w.ich was excised along with the extending tract,and curettage was *** examination confirmed CAF *** patient achieved total resolution during follow-up assessments and did not require additional *** CT imaging supports perineal lesion diagnosis and *** angiofibromas,even with a cutaneous fistula,can be excised transperineally.

BACKGROUND Benign rectal strictures can be categorized as primary(disease-related)and secondary(surgical anastomosis-related).Secondary strictures arise from surgical complications,whereas primary strictures have diverse etiologies,including various inflammatory *** strictures are usually managed by surgery and *** present an unusual etiology of benign rectal stricture caused by the repeated insertion of foreign objects into the rectum for sexual purposes,resulting in rectal injury and subsequent chronic *** SUMMARY A 53-year-old man presented to the outpatient clinic of the Colorectal Surgery Department with symptoms of chronic constipation and bloody *** patient previously experienced rectal injury due to foreign object insertion for sexual *** revealed benign circumferential narrowing of the *** underwent treatment by endoscopic argon plasma coagulation and balloon dilation and follow-up as an outpatient for 4 months.A colonoscopy at the end of the follow-up period revealed no evidence of rectal stricture *** A history of rectal injury,followed by chronic inflammation,should be considered in patients with benign rectal *** with endoscopic argon plasma coagulation and balloon dilation can prevent the need for surgical resection of benign rectal strictures.

This study was aimed to analyze the effect of procyanidin B2(PC)and tannin acid(ta)on the activities of cholesterol esterase(CEase)and the inhibitory mechanisms of enzymatic *** interaction mechanisms were investigated by enzymatic kinetics,multi-spectroscopy methods,thermodynamics analysis,molecular docking,and dynamic *** and ta could bind with CEase and inhibit the activity of enzyme in a mixed-competitive manner and non-competitive manner,w.ich was verified by molecular docking simulations and dynamics ***,PC and ta showed the synergistic inhibition with ***,UVvis and the thermodynamic analysis revealed that the complexes were formed from CEase and inhibitors by noncovalent *** revealed by the circular dichroism results,both PC and ta decreased enzymatic activities by altering the conformations of *** inhibition of PC and ta on CEase might be one mechanism for its cholesterol-lowering effect.

BACKGROUND Thoracolithiasis is a rare benign condition that manifests with one or more small nodules in the pleural *** most cases,it is asymptomatic and found incidentally on chest imaging or during thoracic *** thoracolithiasis formation process is rarely ***,we present a case of a rare,large,curve-shaped thoracolith,the formation of w.ich was documented on serial computed tomography(CT)*** SUMMARY A 46-year-old male patient who denied any prior systemic disease was evaluated due to intermittent right-sided lateral chest pain lasting for a *** radiography and CT revealed a circumscribed calcified nodule measuring 3.5 mm in the right lower lung *** biopsy revealed fungal infection,w.ich was treated with antifungal *** 2 years of follow-up,the patient developed intermittent chest discomfort caused by pleural adhesions,and underwent video-assisted thoracic surgery with ***,he developed empyema,w.ich fully resolved with antibiotic ***,he was followed up at the outpatient clinic and underwent chest CT twice per *** time,we observed thickening of the right distal pleura near the lower posterior mediastinum,and several sporadic calcified nodules with gradually increasing intensity,w.ich eventually merged into a single calcified curve-shaped thoracolith measuring approximately 9 cm in length during the 5-year *** This study documented the formation of a rare thoracolith shape observed for the first time.

BACKGROUND Rectal melanoma is an uncommon neoplasm that accounts for approximately 1 percent of rectal cancer *** resection was regarded as the radical procedure for disease ***,it led to more postoperative complications than sphincter-sparing wide local excision(wLE)and reduced the patient’s quality of life(QOL)owing to creation of ***,in this study,wLE,radiotherapy(RT),and a second wLE were conducted on a patient who had been diagnosed with localized rectal *** SUMMARY The patient was a 79-year-old woman who had been experiencing anal pain and bloody stool for 1 ***,magnetic resonance imaging,positron emission tomography–computed tomography,and histological analysis of tissue biopsy using the histological markers Melan-A(+),S-100(+),and Ki-67(+,50%)lead to the diagnosis of localized rectal *** patient had initially undergone wLE to resolve problem of anal bleeding,followed by RT to treat the residual lesion with partial ***,the residual lesion was removed with margin-free resection by the second *** patient’s postoperative course was smooth and *** the 2-year follow-up,no local recurrence was ***,a good functional outcome and improved QOL were *** Combining wLE,RT,and repeat wLE is proposed as a viable alternative for treating rectal melanoma accompanied by bleeding symptoms that cannot be completely resected at the beginning.
