Warming induced changes in wood matter accumulation in tracheid walls of spruce

The warming-driven increase of the vegetation season length impacts both net productivity and phenology of plants, changing an annual carbon cycle of terrestrial ecosystems. To evaluate this influence, tree growth along the temperature gradients can be investigated on various organization levels, beginning from detailed climatic records in xylem cells’ number and morphometric parameters. In this study, the Borus Ridge of the Western Sayan Mountains(South Siberia) was considered as a forest area under rapid climate change caused by massive Sayano-Shushenskoe reservoir. Several parameters of the xylem anatomical structure in Siberian spruce(Picea obovata Ledeb.)were derived from normalized tracheidograms of cell radial diameter and cell wall thickness and analyzed during 50 years across elevational gradient(at 520,960, and 1320 m a.s.l.). On the regional scale, the main warming by 0.42°C per decade occurs during cold period(November–March). Construction of the reservoir accelerated local warming substantially since 1980, when abrupt shift of the cold season temperature by 2.6°C occurred. It led to the vegetation season beginning 3-6 days earlier and ending 4-10 day later with more stable summer heat supply. Two spatial patterns were found in climatic response of maximal cell wall thickness:(1)temperature has maximal impact during 21-day period, and its seasonality shifts with elevation in tune with temperature gradient;(2) response to the date of temperature passing +9.5°C threshold is observed at two higher sites. Climate change yielded significantly bigger early wood spruce tracheids at all sites, but its impact on cell wall deposition process had elevational gradient: maximal wall thickness increased by 7.9% at the treeline, by 18.2% mid-range,and decreased by 4.9% at the lower boundary of spruce growth;normalized total cell wall area increased by 6.2%-6.8% at two higher sites but remained stable at the lowest one. Parasites of the Nile rat in rural and urban regions of Sudan

In petroleum-producing territories of West Siberia(Russia),oil well gas flares have a thermal effect on nearby plant *** communities can be used as models for studying plant acclimation to global *** the present study on the effect of the hydrothermal regime at the flare sites on mesophyll and stomatal functional traits of Betula pubescens,leaves were collected from trees at250 m(control site[CS]),200,150 and 100 m(maximum impact site[MIS])from a *** the CS to MIS site,the average annual air temperature increased by 0.5℃and bog water level decreased by 17 *** plants from the MIS,stomata were 16%smaller and density was 20%lower compared to those at the CS,resulting in lower maximum stomatal conductance in plants from the MIS(mean±SE:MIS 0.84±0.05 mol·m^(-2)s^(-1),CS 1.24±0.06 mol·m^(-2)s^(-1);F=12.6,P<0.01).Mesophyll cell volume was 1.9 times lower at MIS than at *** numbers per cell also declined with distance from the flares,from 21(MIS)to18(CS;F=15.6,P<0.001),and chloroplast volume was 24%higher at the CS,whereas the number of mesophyll cells and chloroplasts numbers per unit leaf area were 1.9 and 1.8 times higher at the MIS than at the CS,*** a result,leaves from the MIS had a large total mesophyll cell(Ames/A)and chloroplast(Achl/A)surface area per unit leaf area,resulting in a 46%increase in mesophyll conductance in plants from the ***,structural changes in leaf epidermis consisted of a decrease in stomatal size and number,could lower transpiration losses with higher temperatures and less *** compensate for the reduction in leaf conductance due to a decrease in stomatal conductance under these conditions,an increase in the number of mesophyll cells and chloroplasts per unit area provides a greater gas-exchange area and mesophyll conductance.

Improving Date Fruit Classification Using Cycle GAN-Generated Dataset

Dates are an important part of human *** are high in essential nutrients and provide a number of health *** fruits are also known to protect against a number of diseases,including cancer and heart *** fruits have several sizes,colors,tastes,and *** are a lot of challenges facing the date *** of the most significant challenges is the classification and sorting of *** there is no public dataset for date fruits,which is a major limitation in order to improve the performance of convolutional neural networks(CNN)models and avoid the overfitting *** this paper,an augmented date fruits dataset was developed using Deep Convolutional Generative Adversarial Networks(DCGAN)and CycleGAN approach to augment our collected date fruit *** augmentation is required to address the issue of a restricted number of images in our datasets,as well as to establish a balanced *** are three types of dates in our proposed dataset:Sukkari,Ajwa,and *** dataset augmentation,we train our created dataset using ResNet152V2 and CNN models to assess the classification process for our three categories in the *** train these two models,we start with the original ***,the models were trained using the DCGAN-generated dataset,followed by the CycleGAN-generated *** resulting results demonstrated that when using the ResNet152V2model,the CycleGAN-generated dataset had the highest classification performance with 96.8%accuracy,followed by the CNN model with 94.3%accuracy.

Dynamics of moisture regime and its reconstruction from a tree-ring width chronology of Pinus sylvestris in the downstream basin of the Selenga River, Russia

Regional tree-ring width chronology of the Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) was constructed from 8 sites in the forest-steppe belt situated in the foothills of the Selenga River basin, Russia. Moisture information contained in tree-ring width chronology was obtained through linear regression reconstruction models of annual August–July precipitation and annual water discharge of the Selenga River during the period 1767–2015. Comparison of the smoothed series allowed estimating long-term variation component of these moisture regime parameters with a high precision. At the same time, regional drought indices are less correlated with pine radial growth, because they have contribution of the other environmental variables, which are much less reflected in the tree-ring of the investigated pine forest stands. Reconstructed dynamic of the moisture regime parameters is supported by documental evident of many socially significant events in the regional history, such as crop failures caused by both droughts and floods, and catastrophic fire in the Irkutsk City in 1879. Also, dependence of the amount of precipitation in the study area on the atmospheric circulation in Central Asia is revealed to have a similar pattern with other regions, i.e., a negative relationship of precipitation with the development of large high atmospheric pressure area within its center in the Altai and Tianshan mountains.

Predictors and Effects of Persistent Hypertension after Successful Treatment of Coarctation of the Aorta

(+)-Catechin(CE)is mainly found in green and black tea and has many biological effects,such as antiinflammatory,anti-cancer,anti-viral effects,protecting human organs,especially the *** study aims to identify the circRNAs induced by CE in db/db mice and their roles in diabetic nephropathy *** the db/db mice were treated with CE,RNA-seq was performed to identify the differentially expressed circRNA and *** ceRNA regulatory network was constructed and analyzed using bioinformatics software and public databases(Cytoscape,Clue GO,Mi RWalk,STRING,et al.).Our results revealed that 6 differentially expressed circRNAs are most associated with the cholinergic synapse,neurotrophin signaling pathway,and insulin signaling *** these,circRNA.5549 and circRNA.4712 might regulate Cd36,Cyp26 b1,C8 a,Cyp2 j13,Grem2 genes through ceRNA regulatory mechanism in the presence of CE *** expanded network of proteins interacting with these 5 genes shows that the TGF-βsignaling pathway,signaling pathways regulating pluripotency of stem cell,fat digestion and absorption,and PPAR signaling pathway was highly ***,circRNA.5549 and circRNA.4712 exhibit a promotive function in CE-treated db/db mice,especially in circRNA.5549/miR-29a-5P/Cd36 regulatory network,and this evidence suggest that their ceRNA regulatory network might be a therapeutic target for DN in humans.
