To the Editor： Hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） remains one of the commonest cancers worldwide especially in hepatitis B endemic regions. Its aggressive behavior is characterised by the natural history of increasing size, a tendency for vascular invasion into the hepatic veins and portal veins. Further growth into the inferior vena cava （IVC） and right atrium （RA） is an infrequent finding but signifies a pre-terminal event with a dismal prognosis.

Obscure gastrointestinal bleeding is an uncommonly encountered and difficult-to-treat clinical problem in gastroenterology,but advancements in endoscopic and radiologic imaging modalities allow for greater accuracyin diagnosing obscure gastrointestinal *** varices account for less than 5% of all variceal bleeding cases,and jejunal variceal bleeding due to extrahepatic portal hypertension is *** present a 47-year-old man suffering from obscure gastrointestinal *** tomography of the abdomen revealed multiple vascular tufts around the proximal jejunum but no evidence of cirrhosis,and a visible hypodense filling defect suggestive of thrombus was visible in the superior mesenteric *** revealed several serpiginous varices in the proximal *** data disclosed protein C deficiency(33.6%).The patient was successfully treated by therapeutic balloonassisted enteroscopy and long-term anticoagulant therapy,which is normally contraindicated in patients with gastrointestinal *** modalities for obscure gastrointestinal bleeding,such as capsule endoscopy,computed tomography enterography,magnetic resonance enterography,and enteroscopy,were also reviewed in this article.

This study investigates biogeochemical reductive release of arsenate from beudantite into solution in a crater area in northern Taiwan,using a combination of X-ray absorption near-edge structure （XANES） and atomic absorption *** arsenic （As） concentrations in the soil were more than 200 mg/*** four months of laboratory experiments,less than 0.8% As was released into solution after reduction *** 71% to 83% As was chemically reduced into arsenite （As（III）） and partially weathering into the soluble *** kinetic dissolution and re-precipitation of As,Fe,Pb and sulfate in this area of paddy soils merits further study.

The removal of tumor together with the native liver in living donor liver transplantation for hepatocellular carcinoma is challenged by a very close resection margin if the tumor abuts the inferior vena *** is in contrast to typical deceased donor liver transplantation where the entire retrohepatic inferior vena cava is included in total *** we report a case of deroofing the retrohepatic vena cava in living donor liver transplantation for caudate hepatocellular *** order to ensure clear resection margins,the anterior portion of the inferior vena cava was *** right liver graft was inset into a Dacron vascular graft on the back table and the composite graft was then implanted to the recipient inferior vena *** this technique,we observed the no-touch technique in tumor removal,hence minimizing the chance of positive resection margin as well as the chance of shedding of tumor cells during manipulation in operation.
