Characteristics and Risk Factors for Pediatric Sepsis

Objective Sepsis is considered a major cause of health loss in children and had high mortality and ***,there is no reliable model for predicting the prognosis of pediatric patients with *** study aimed to analyze the clinical characteristics of sepsis in children and assess the risk factors associated with poor prognosis in pediatric sepsis patients to identify timely interventions and improve their *** This study analyzed the clinical indicators and laboratory results of septic patients hospitalized in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of tongji Hospital,tongji Medical College,Huazhong University of Science and Technology,China,from January 1,2019,to December 31,*** factors for sepsis were identified by logistic regression *** A total of 355 children with sepsis were enrolled,with 333 children(93.8%)in the good prognosis group,and 22 children(6.2%)in the poor prognosis *** them,there were 255 patients(71.8%)in the sepsis group,and 100 patients(28.2%)in the severe sepsis *** length of hospital stay in the poor prognosis group was longer than that in the good prognosis group(P0.05),and the platelet(PLT),albumin(ALB),and hemoglobin(Hb)levels were lower in the poor prognosis group(P<0.01).The IL-8 levels in the severe sepsis group were higher than those in the sepsis group(P<0.05).Multiple logistic regression analysis suggested that lower Hb levels,ALB levels,peak PLT counts,and higher IL-1βlevels were independent risk factors for poor prognosis in children with *** Lower Hb,ALB,and PLT counts and elevated IL-1βare independent risk factors for poor prognosis in children with sepsis.

SMAD4 deficiency in colorectal cancer(CRC)is highly correlated with liver metastasis and high mortality,yet there are few effective precision therapies ***,we show that CCR1^(+)-granulocytic myeloid-derived suppressor cells(G-MDSCs)are highly infiltrated in SMAD4-deficient CRC via CCL15/CCR1 and CCL9/CCR1 axis in clinical specimens and mouse models,*** excessive TGF-β,secreted by tumor-infiltrated CCR1^(+)-G-MDSCs,suppresses the immune response of cytotoxic T lymphocytes(CTLs),thus facilitating ***,we develop engineered nanovesicles displaying CCR1 and TGFBR2 molecules(C/T-NVs)to chemotactically target the tumor driven by CCL9/CCR1 axis and trap TGF-βthrough TGF-β-TGFBR2 specific *** C/T-NVs counteract CCR1^(+)-G-MDSC infiltration through competitive responding CCL9/CCR1 axis.C/T-NVs-induced intratumoral TGF-βexhaustion alleviates the TGF-β-suppressed immune response of ***,C/T-NVs attenuate liver metastasis of SMAD4-deficient *** further exploration,high expression of programmed cell death ligand-1(PD-L1)is observed in clinical specimens of SMAD4-deficient *** C/T-NVs with anti-PD-L1 antibody(aPD-L1)induces tertiary lymphoid structure formation with sustained activation of CTLs,CXCL13^(+)-CD4^(+)T,CXCR5^(+)-CD20^(+)B cells,and enhanced secretion of cytotoxic cytokine interleukin-21 and IFN-γaround tumors,thus eradicating metastatic *** strategy elicits pleiotropic antimetastatic immunity,paving the way for nanovesicle-mediated precision immunotherapy in SMAD4-deficient CRC.

DeepSI:A Sensitive-Driven Testing Samples Generation Method of Whitebox CNN Model for Edge Computing

Quantum Tunneling Enhanced Hydrogen Desorption from Graphene Surface: Atomic versus Molecular Mechanism

We study the desorption mechanism of hydrogen isotopes from graphene surface using first-principles calculations,with focus on the effects of quantum *** low temperatures,quantum tunneling plays a dominant role in the desorption process of both hydrogen monomers and *** the case of dimer desorption,two types of mechanisms,namely the traditional one-step desorption in the form of molecules(molecular mechanism),and the two-step desorption in the form of individual atoms(atomic mechanism),are studied and *** the ortho-dimers,the dominant desorption mechanism is found to switch from the molecular mechanism to the atomic mechanism above a critical temperature,which is∼300K and 200K for H and D,respectively.

Market participants can only bid with lagged information disclosure under the existing market mechanism,which can lead to information asymmetry and irrational market behavior,thus influencing market *** promote rational bidding behavior of market participants and improve market efficiency,a novel electricity market mechanism based on cloudedge collaboration is proposed in this *** market information,called residual demand curve,is published to market participants in real-time on the cloud side,while participants on the edge side are allowed to adjust their bids according to the information disclosure prior to closure *** proposed mechanism can encourage rational bids in an incentive-compatible way through the process of dynamic equilibrium while protecting participants’*** paper further formulates the mathematical model of market equilibrium to simulate the process of each market participant’s strategic bidding behavior towards equilibrium.A case study based on the IEEE 30-bus system shows the proposed market mechanism can effectively guide bidding behavior of market participants,while condensing exchanged information and protecting privacy of participants.

Realizing simultaneous adjustment of energy levels and work functions in two-dimensional/three-dimensional(2D/3D)perovskite solar cells(PSCs)is a ***,a pseudohalide 3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)benzylammonium tetrafluoroborate(TFPMABF_(4))was used to react with unreacted Pb I2on the surface of 3D bulky perovskite to form a mixed halide of 2D perovskite denoted(TF-PMA)_(2)FA_(2)Pb_(3)I_(8)(BF_(4))_(2).This novel 2D/3D perovskite enables the simultaneous adjustment of energy levels and work functions on the surface of active *** to the significantly enhanced quality of 2D/3D perovskite film,decreased surface defects and increased charge carrier lifetime,the 2D/3D PSCs exhibit an outstanding power conversion efficiency(PCE)of 25.15%and a high V_(OC)of 1.194 ***,2D/3D PSCs exhibit remarkable enhancements in environmental stability,unencapsulated devices retaining more than 90%of their initial PCE at 50%humidity for 2,280 h.

Frequency Domain Fatigue Evaluation on SCR Girth-Weld Based on Structural Stress

The Steel Catenary Riser(SCR)is a vital component for transporting oil and gas from the seabed to the floating *** harsh environmental conditions and complex platform motion make the SCR’s girth-weld prone to fatigue *** structural stress fatigue theory and Master S-N curve method provide accurate predictions for the fatigue damage on the welded joints,which demonstrate significant potential and compatibility in multi-axial and random fatigue ***,we propose a new frequency fatigue model subjected to welded joints of SCR under multiaxial stress,which fully integrates the mesh-insensitive structural stress and frequency domain random process and transforms the conventional welding fatigue technique of SCR into a spectrum analysis technique utilizing structural ***,a full-scale FE model of SCR with welds is established to obtain the modal structural stress of the girth weld and the frequency response function(FRF)of modal coordinate,and a biaxial fatigue evaluation about the girth weld of the SCR can be achieved by taking the effects of multi-load correlation and pipe-soil interaction into *** research results indicate that the frequency-domain fatigue results are aligned with the time-domain results,meeting the fatigue evaluation requirements of the SCR.

Emerging and recurrent infectious diseases caused by human coronaviruses(HCoVs)continue to pose a significant threat to global public health *** light of this ongoing threat,the development of a broad-spectrum drug to combat HCoVs is an urgently ***,we report a series of anti-pan-coronavirus ssDNA aptamers screened using Systematic Evolution of Ligands by Exponential Enrichment(SELEX).These aptamers have nanomolar affinity with the nucleocapsid protein(NP)of Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)and also show excellent binding efficiency to the N proteins of both SARS,MERS,HCoV-OC43 and-NL63 with affinity KD values of 1.31 to 135.36 *** aptamer-based therapeutics exhibited potent antiviral activity against both the authentic SARS-CoV-2 prototype strain and the Omicron variant(BA.5)with EC50 values at 2.00 nM and 41.08 nM,*** protein docking analysis also evidenced that these aptamers exhibit strong affinities for N proteins of pan-coronavirus and other HCoVs(−229E and-HKU1).In conclusion,we have identified six aptamers with a high pan-coronavirus antiviral activity,which could potentially serve as an effective strategy for preventing infections by unknown coronaviruses and addressing the ongoing global health threat.

Cyclohexanol optimizes Pt/ionomer interface in fuel cell cathodes

This highlight is based on a recent article published in Nature Catalysis, in which Wei's group [1] from Chongqing University proposes a novel approach to enhance the performance of proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs)by adjusting the interface between Pt and ionomer in the cathode catalyst layer. Their strategy involves adding cyclohexanol to the cathode catalyst ink to impede the adsorption of sulfonate groups from the ionomer onto Pt nanoparticles, which results in the release of Pt activity sites and a significant improvement in the mass transport efficiency.
