Transport mechanism of eroded sediment particles under freeze-thaw and runoff conditions

Hydraulic erosion associated with seasonal freeze-thaw cycles is one of the most predominant factors,which drives soil stripping and transportation.In this study,indoor simulated meltwater erosion experiments were used to investigate the sorting characteristics and transport mechanism of sediment particles under different freeze-thaw conditions(unfrozen,shallow-thawed,and frozen slopes)and runoff rates(1,2,and 4 L/min).Results showed that the order of sediment particle contents was silt>sand>clay during erosion process on unfrozen,shallow-thawed,and frozen slopes.Compared with original soils,clay and silt were lost,and sand was deposited.On unfrozen and shallow-thawed slopes,the change of runoff rate had a significant impact on the enrichment of clay,silt,and sand particles.In this study,the sediment particles transported in the form of suspension/saltation were 83.58%–86.54%on unfrozen slopes,69.24%–84.89%on shallow-thawed slopes,and 83.75%–87.44%on frozen slopes.Moreover,sediment particles smaller than 0.027 mm were preferentially transported.On shallow-thawed slope,relative contribution percentage of suspension/saltation sediment particles gradually increased with the increase in runoff rate,and an opposite trend occurred on unfrozen and frozen slopes.At the same runoff rate,freeze-thaw process had a significant impact on the relative contribution percentage of sediment particle transport via suspension/saltation and rolling during erosion process.The research results provide an improved transport mechanism under freeze-thaw condition for steep loessal slopes.

The N^(6)-methyladenosine(m^(6)A)modification is the most prevalent modification of eukaryotic mRNAs and plays a crucial role in various physiological processes by regulating the stability or function of target mRNAs.Accumulating evidence has suggested that m6A methylation may be involved in the pathological process of major depressive disorder(MDD),a common neuropsychiatric disorder with an unclear aetiology.Here,we found that the levels of the circular RNA HECW2(circHECW2)were significantly increased in the plasma of both MDD patients and the chronic unpredictable stress(CUS)mouse model.Notably,the downregulation of circHECW2 attenuated astrocyte dysfunction and depression-like behaviors induced by CUS.Furthermore,we demonstrated that the downregulation of circHECW2 increased the expression of the methylase WTAP,leading to an increase in Gng4 expression via m^(6)A modifications.Our findings provide functional insight into the correlation between circHECW2 and m^(6)A methylation,suggesting that circHECW2 may represent a potential target for MDD treatment.

BACKGROUND The bone remodeling during orthodontic treatment for malocclusion often requires a long duration of around two to three years,which also may lead to some complications such as alveolar bone resorption or tooth root resorption.Low-intensity pulsed ultrasound(LIPUS),a noninvasive physical therapy,has been shown to promote bone fracture healing.It is also reported that LIPUS could reduce the duration of orthodontic treatment;however,how LIPUS regulates the bone metabolism during the orthodontic treatment process is still unclear.AIM To investigate the effects of LIPUS on bone remodeling in an orthodontic tooth movement(OTM)model and explore the underlying mechanisms.METHODS A rat model of OTM was established,and alveolar bone remodeling and tooth movement rate were evaluated via micro-computed tomography and staining of tissue sections.In vitro,human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(hBMSCs)were isolated to detect their osteogenic differentiation potential under compression and LIPUS stimulation by quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction,Western blot,alkaline phosphatase(ALP)staining,and Alizarin red staining.The expression of Yes-associated protein(YAP1),the actin cytoskeleton,and the Lamin A/C nucleoskeleton were detected with or without YAP1 small interfering RNA(siRNA)application via immunofluorescence.RESULTS The force treatment inhibited the osteogenic differentiation potential of hBMSCs;moreover,the expression of osteogenesis markers,such as type 1 collagen(COL1),runt-related transcription factor 2,ALP,and osteocalcin(OCN),decreased.LIPUS could rescue the osteogenic differentiation of hBMSCs with increased expression of osteogenic marker inhibited by force.Mechanically,the expression of LaminA/C,F-actin,and YAP1 was downregulated after force treatment,which could be rescued by LIPUS.Moreover,the osteogenic differentiation of hBMSCs increased by LIPUS could be attenuated by YAP siRNA treatment.Consistently,LIPUS increased alveolar bone density and decreased vertical bone absorp

Achieving high carrier mobility and low lattice thermal conductivity in GeTe-based alloys by cationic/anionic co-doping

The Ⅳ-Ⅵ compound GeTe is considered as a promising alternative to the toxic PbTe for high-efficiency mid-temperature thermoelectric applications.However,pristine GeTe suffers from a high concentration of Ge vacancies,resulting in an excessively high hole concentration(> 1 × 1021cm-3),which greatly limits its thermoelectric enhancement.To address this issue,CuBiTe2alloying is introduced to increase the formation energy of Ge vacancies in GeTe,thereby inhibiting the high carrier concentration.The carrier scattering caused by the electronegativity difference between different elements is suppressed due to the similar electronegativity of Cu and Ge atoms.A relatively high hole mobility is obtained,which ultimately leads to a high power factor.Additionally,by introducing Se as an alloying element at the anionic site in GeTe,dense point defects with mass/strainfield fluctuations are induced.This contributes to the strengthening of phonon scattering,thereby reducing the lattice thermal conductivity from 1.44 W·m-1·K-1for pristine GeTe to 0.28 W·m-1·K-1for Ge0.95Cu0.05Bi0.05Te0.9Se0.15compound at 623 K.

针对爬行动物搜索算法存在收敛速度慢、寻优精度低和易陷入局部极值等缺陷,提出一种基于水波进化和动态莱维飞行的爬行动物搜索算法.采用Halton序列初始化种群,生成均匀分布的个体,减少个体搜索盲区和重叠概率以提升种群多样性;引入水波动态进化因子和自适应权重,协调算法全局搜索与局部开发之间的转换,提高算法收敛速度和寻优精度;结合一种动态莱维飞行变异策略,提升算法局部抗停滞能力.通过对14个基准测试函数的寻优对比分析、Wilcoxon秩和检验以及寻优时间对比结果可知,改进算法具有更好的收敛性能、寻优性能和鲁棒性.最后,通过工程应用中焊接梁设计的优化对比结果,进一步验证了改进算法处理实际工程问题的优越性.

Effect of sample temperature on femtosecond laser ablation of copper

We conduct an experimental study supported by theoretical analysis of single laser ablating copper to investigate the interactions between laser and material at different sample temperatures,and predict the changes of ablation morphology and lattice temperature.For investigating the effect of sample temperature on femtosecond laser processing,we conduct experiments on and simulate the thermal behavior of femtosecond laser irradiating copper by using a two-temperature model.The simulation results show that both electron peak temperature and the relaxation time needed to reach equilibrium increase as initial sample temperature rises.When the sample temperature rises from 300 K to 600 K,the maximum lattice temperature of the copper surface increases by about 6500 K under femtosecond laser irradiation,and the ablation depth increases by 20%.The simulated ablation depths follow the same general trend as the experimental values.This work provides some theoretical basis and technical support for developing femtosecond laser processing in the field of metal materials.

CO_(2)emission inventory provides fundamental data for climate research and emission mitigation.Currently,most global CO_(2)emission inventories were developed with energy statistics from International Energy Agency(IEA)and were available at country level with limited source categories.Here,as the first step toward a high-resolution and dynamic updated global CO_(2)emission database,we developed a data-driven approach to construct seamless and highly-resolved energy consumption data cubes for 208 countries/territories,797 sub-country administrative divisions in 29 countries,42 fuel types,and 52 sectors,with the fusion of activity data from 24 international statistics and 65 regional/local statistics.Global CO_(2)emissions from fossil fuel combustion and cement production in 1970–2021 were then estimated with highly-resolved source category(1,484 of total)and sub-country information(797 of total).Specifically,73%of global CO_(2)emissions in 2021 were estimated with sub-country information,providing considerably improved spatial resolution for global CO_(2)emission accounting.With the support of detailed information,the dynamics of global CO_(2)emissions across sectors and fuel types were presented,representing the evolution of global economy and progress of climate mitigation.Remarkable differences of sectoral contribution were found across sub-country administrative divisions within a given country,revealing the uneven distribution of energy and economic structure among different regions.Our estimates were generally consistent with existing databases at aggregated level for global total or large emitters,while large discrepancies were observed for middle and small emitters.Our database,named the Multiresolution Emission Inventory model for Climate and air pollution research(MEIC)is publicly available through http://*** with highly-resolved information and timely update,which provides an independent carbon emission accounting data source for climate research.

Introduction.On May 11,2023,the internationally renowned journal Nature announced that a first draft of the human pangenome reference has been constructed[1].This research was carried out by the Human Pangenome Reference Consortium(HPRC).One month later,on June 14,2023,a pangenome reference of 36 Chinese populations was published on journal Nature[2],which was performed by Chinese Pangenome Consortium(CPC).As the scientists pointed out that since the Human Genome Project(HGP)published the human reference genome,it provided a reference blueprint for genomic research.However,the limitations of the human reference genome have gradually emerged,and it is difficult to reflect the genome diversity of the"human"species.
