In contrast to mammals and birds,fish display an amazing diversity of genetic sex determination systems,with frequent changes during evolution possibly associated with the emergence of new sex chromosomes and sex-determining *** better understand the molecular and evolutionary mechanisms driving this diversity,several fish models are studied in *** the medaka(Oryzias latipes Temminck and Schlegel,1846)for which the master sex-determination gene has been identified,one of the most advanced models for studying sex determination is the Southern platyfish(Xiphophorus maculatus,Günther 1966).Xiphophorus maculatus belongs to the Poeciliids,a family of live-bearing freshwater fish,including platyfish,swordtails and guppies that perfectly illustrates the diversity of genetic sex-determination mechanisms observed in *** ***,bacterial artificial chro-mosome contigs covering the sex-determination region of the X and Y sex chromosomes have been *** molecular analysis demonstrated that the sex-determination region is very unstable and frequently undergoes duplications,deletions,inversions and other *** gene candidates linked to the master sex-determining gene have been identified,some of them corresponding to *** putative genes are present on both the X and the Y chromosomes,suggesting a poor degree of differentiation and a young evolutionary age for platyfish sex *** compared with other fish and tetrapod genomes,syntenies were detected only with *** observation supports an independent origin of sex chromosomes,not only in different vertebrate lineages but also between different fish species.

Common psychiatric disorders(CPDs)and depression contribute significantly to the global epidemic of type 2 diabetes(T2D).We postulated a possible pathophysiological mechanism that through Bridge-Symptoms present in depression and CPDs,promotes the establishment of emotional eating,activation of the reward system,onset of overweight and obesity and,ultimately the increased risk of developing *** plausibility of the proposed pathophysiological mechanism is supported by the mechanism of action of drugs such as naltrexonebupropion currently approved for the treatment of both obesity/overweight with T2D and as separate active pharmaceutical ingredients in drug addiction,but also from initial evidence that is emerging regarding glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists that appear to be effective in the treatment of drug *** hope that our hypothesis may be useful in interpreting the higher prevalence of CPDs and depression in patients with T2D compared with the general population and may help refine the integrated psychiatric-diabetic therapy approach to improve the treatment and or remission of T2D.

Memory deficit,which is often associated with aging and many psychiatric,neurological,and neurodegenerative diseases,has been a challenging issue for *** till now,all potential drug candidates have failed to produce satisfa ctory ***,in the search for a solution,we found that a treatment with the gene corresponding to the RGS14414protein in visual area V2,a brain area connected with brain circuits of the ventral stream and the medial temporal lobe,which is crucial for object recognition memory(ORM),can induce enhancement of *** this study,we demonstrated that the same treatment with RGS14414in visual area V2,which is relatively unaffected in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer s disease,produced longlasting enhancement of ORM in young animals and prevent ORM deficits in rodent models of aging and Alzheimer’s ***,we found that the prevention of memory deficits was mediated through the upregulation of neuronal arbo rization and spine density,as well as an increase in brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF).A knockdown of BDNF gene in RGS14414-treated aging rats and Alzheimer s disease model mice caused complete loss in the upregulation of neuronal structural plasticity and in the prevention of ORM *** findings suggest that BDNF-mediated neuronal structural plasticity in area V2 is crucial in the prevention of memory deficits in RGS14414-treated rodent models of aging and Alzheimer’s ***,our findings of RGS14414gene-mediated activation of neuronal circuits in visual area V2 have therapeutic relevance in the treatment of memory deficits.

碳捕集、利用与封存(CCUS)技术是减少二氧化碳(CO_(2))排放的有效措施之一,其中化学吸收法应用广泛且技术成熟。在化学吸收法中,用碱性溶液吸收CO_(2)后,CO_(2)吸收液中存在一定量的碳酸氢根和碳酸根,准确测定CO_(2)吸收液中碳酸氢根和碳酸根的总量,可确定CO_(2)吸收液的CO_(2)吸收量。根据脱硫废水(作为CO_(2)吸收液)的水质组分及其复杂性提出了采用EDTA间接滴定法快速测定CO_(2)吸收液中碳酸氢根和碳酸根的总量(以碳酸根计,下同)。对碳酸氢根和碳酸根系列标准溶液的测定结果表明,系列标准溶液的标准曲线线性拟合系数均大于0.9993,线性拟合范围为100~2500 mg/L,因此EDTA间接滴定法测定碳酸氢根和碳酸根总量的检测范围为100~2500 mg/L。对实际工程水样的测定结果显示,测定结果的相对标准偏差为0.92%~1.28%(n=5),准确性较好,EDTA间接滴定法测定碳酸氢根和碳酸根总量具有现实可行性。

Transcriptomic responses to drought stress in the Patagonian southern beech Nothofagus alpina

Background Deciphering the genetic architecture of drought tolerance could allow the candidate genes identification responding to water stress. In the Andean Patagonian forest, the genus Nothofagus represents an ecologically relevant species to be included in different genomic studies. These studies are scarce in South American ecosystems however represent an important source of genomic data in order to interpret future climate-change environment scenarios of these emblematic forests. Here, we achieved the assemblage of the transcriptome of N. alpina while searching for key genes of activated or suppressed metabolic pathways in response to drought *** De novo transcriptome assembly resulted in 104,030 transcripts. Following confirmation of drought conditions, based on reduction of leaf water potential and stomatal conductance, a differential gene expression analysis resulted in 2720 significantly expressed genes(1601 up-regulated and 1119 down-regulated). Enrichment analysis(over-representation analysis and gene set enrichment analysis) resulted in more than one hundred stress-responsive term ontologies(i.e. biological processes) and pathways. Terms such as response to abscisic acid and pathways such as plant hormone signal transduction or starch and sucrose metabolism were over-represented. Protein–protein interaction assessment resulted in networks with significantly expressed top common hub gene clusters(e.g. planttype cell wall biogenesis among down-regulated or ABA-signalling among up-regulated). These networks evidenced important regulators at gene expression such as transcriptional *** Responses of N. alpina seedlings to drought stress were evidenced by the activation of several genes linked to GO biological processes and KEGG pathways, which were mainly based on over-expression of specific protein kinases, phosphatases, synthases and transcription factors. BACKGROUND Aseptic acetabular loosening can result from various factors that can be categorized into groups:patient-related,surgeon-related and *** present a case of a 63-year-old patient who at first underwent a total hip arthro-plasty(THA)using a metal-on-metal bearing due to hip ***-up visits revealed no complications after the *** years after the THA,acetabular component loosening occurred due to subsequent trauma of the opposite hip,necessitating a revision THA using a ceramic-on-ceramic *** SUMMARY We aim to illustrate a rare case where the primary reason for undergoing THA revision was not only incomplete bone graft incorporation but also improper limb load *** the revision arthroplasty,a 9-year follow-up visit revealed improvements in all evaluation measures on questionnaire compared to the state before surgery:Harris Hip Score(before surgery:15;after surgery:95),Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index(before surgery:96;after surgery:0),and Visual Analogue Scale(before surgery:10;after surgery:1).CONCLUSION Opposite-hip trauma caused a weight transfer to the limb after a THA *** process led to a stress shielding effect,resulting in acetabular component loosening.
