Aerial algae on the surface of carbonate rocks at the Stone Forest, Shilin County, Yunnan Province, china, and their bioerosion were investigated in the field and studied in the laboratory in detail. Through the observation, identification and statistics of more than one hun- dred algal samples and rock samples with the optical microscopes (stereomicroscope, biological microscope) and the scanning electronic microscope (SEM), the relationships between erosional forms on the surface of the Stone Forest and algae and/or algal communities and the genetic mechanism for the formation of erosional forms were analyzed. It is suggested that aerial algae play an active role in bioerosive processes that may affect the formation of karst erosional forms. These effects include both direct and indirect ones. The direct effect is the initiative control (algal shape-controlling role) of algae on the formation of karst forms of various scales, mostly mi- cro-scale (3.) and minor-scale (10-3.10-1m) erosional forms. The algal shape-controlling roles can be divided into the algal individual shape-controlling role and the algal community shape-controlling role. The former mostly controls the formation of micro-scale erosional forms, while the latter mostly controls the formation of micro-scale and smaller minor-scale erosional forms. The indirect effect refers to the promoting role of algae in the formation of karst forms, which may affect the formation of karst forms of all types and scales. The bioerosion of algae accelerates the weathering process of the whole Stone Forest karst landforms.

The neutron total cross section data of^(9)Be are essential in the nuclear structure model research of light nuclei and nuclear power *** neutron total cross section of^(9)Be in the 0.3.eV−12. MeV energy region has been measured using time-of-flight and transmission methods with the Neutron Total Cross Sectional Spectrometer(NTOX)based on the multi-cell fast fission chamber at the {2. Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS)-Back-n white neutron source(Back-n).The fission count-neutron energy distributions of ^(2.1})U and ^(2.1})U without samples and with Be samples with three thicknesses were measured in the double-bunch operation mode for a beam power of 100 *** Bayesian method was used to eliminate the influence of the double-bunch problem on neutron measurement in the energy region above 10 *** neutron total cross section of^(9)Be results was consistent with ENDF/B-VIII.0 evaluation library data in the 0.3.eV−2. MeV energy *** the energy ranges of 0.3.eV to 10 keV and 0.01 to 2. MeV,the deviations between our results and the evaluation results of ENDF/B-VIII.0 were within 2.5%and 15%,*** the resonance energy region,the measured resonance energies in our experiment were 0.63.0.82.and 2.8 MeV,*** results showed that the total cross section uncertainties of three Be samples were within 2.2.in the energy region below 1 *** total cross section uncertainty of 3. mm Be from ^(2.1})U was the smallest and less than 5%in the energy region of 0.3.eV−12. *** results of this experiment can provide technical support for further data analysis and related nuclear data evaluation.

The ^(2.0})Th(n,f)cross section is very important in basic nuclear physics and applications based on the Th/U fuel *** the time-of-flight method and a multi-cell fast-fission ionization chamber,a novel measurement of the^(2.0})Th(n,f)cross sec-tion relative to^(2.0})U in the 1–2.0 MeV range was performed at the china Spallation Neutron Source Back-n white neutron source(Back-n).The fission event-neutron energy spectra of^(2.0})Th and^(2.0})U fission cells were measured in the single-bunch *** 2.0}Th/2.0}U fission cross-sectional ratios were obtained,and the measurement uncertainties were 2.5–3.7%for energies in the 2.2. MeV range and 3.6–6.2.for energies in the 2.–2.0 MeV ***^(2.0})Th(n,f)cross section was obtained by introducing the standard cross section of^(2.0})U(n,f).The results were compared with those of previous theoreti-cal calculations,measurements,and *** measured 2.0}Th fission cross section agreed with the main evaluation results in terms of the experimental uncertainty,and 2.0}Th fission resonances were observed in the 1–3.MeV *** present results provide^(2.0})Th(n,f)cross-sectional data for the evaluation and design of Th/U cycle nuclear systems.

We propose a fundamental theorem for eco-environmental surface modelling(FTEEM) in order to apply it into the fields of ecology and environmental science more easily after the fundamental theorem for Earth’s surface system modeling(FTESM). The beijing-tianjin-Hebei(BTH) region is taken as a case area to conduct empirical studies of algorithms for spatial upscaling, spatial downscaling, spatial interpolation, data fusion and model-data assimilation, which are based on high accuracy surface modelling(HASM), corresponding with corollaries of FTEEM. The case studies demonstrate how eco-environmental surface modelling is substantially improved when both extrinsic and intrinsic information are used along with an appropriate method of HASM. Compared with classic algorithms, the HASM-based algorithm for spatial upscaling reduced the root-meansquare error of the BTH elevation surface by 9 m. The HASM-based algorithm for spatial downscaling reduced the relative error of future scenarios of annual mean temperature by 16%. The HASM-based algorithm for spatial interpolation reduced the relative error of change trend of annual mean precipitation by 0.2.. The HASM-based algorithm for data fusion reduced the relative error of change trend of annual mean temperature by 70%. The HASM-based algorithm for model-data assimilation reduced the relative error of carbon stocks by 40%. We propose five theoretical challenges and three application problems of HASM that need to be addressed to improve FTEEM.

In iron-based superconductors,the(0,π) or(π,0) nematicity,which describes an electronic anisotropy with a fourfold symmetry breaking,is well established and believed to be important for understanding the superconducting ***,how exactly such a nematic order observed in the normal state can be related to the superconducting pairing is still ***,by performing angular-dependent in-plane magnetoresistivity using ultra-thin flakes in the steep superconducting transition region,we unveil a nematic superconducting order along the(π,π) direction in electron-doped BaFe_(2.x)Ni_(x)As_(2. from under-doped to heavily overdoped regimes with x=0.065- *** shows superconducting gap maxima along the(π,π) direction rotated by 45° from the nematicity along(0, π) or(π,0) direction observed in the normal state.A similar(π,π)-type nematicity is also observed in the under-doped and optimally doped hole-type Ba1-yKyFe2.As_(2.,with y=*** results suggest that the(π,π) nematic superconducting order is a universal feature that needs to be taken into account in the superconducting pairing mechanism in iron-based superconductors.

Back-streaming neutrons from the spallation target of the china Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS)that emit through the incoming proton channel were exploited to build a white neutron beam facility(the so-called Back-n white neutron source),which was completed in March *** Back-n neutron beam is very intense,at approximately 2.107 n/cm2.s at 55 m from the target,and has a nominal proton beam with a power of 100 kW in the CSNS-I phase and a kinetic energy of 1.6 GeV and a thick tungsten target in multiple slices with modest moderation from the cooling water through the *** addition,the excellent energy spectrum spanning from 0.5 eV to 2.0 MeV,and a good time resolution related tothe time-of-flight measurements make it a typical white neutron source for nuclear data measurements;its overall performance is among that of the best white neutron sources in the *** with advanced spectrometers,detectors,and application utilities,the Back-n facility can serve wide applications,with a focus on neutron-induced cross-sectional *** article presents an overview of the neutron beam characteristics,the experimental setups,and the ongoing applications at Backn.

Background:Transcranial alternating current stimulation(tACS)offers a new approach for adult patients with major depressive disorder(MDD).The study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of tACS treating ***:This is an 8-week,double-blind,randomized,placebo-controlled ***-two drug-naive patients with MDD aged 18 to 65 years will receive 2. daily 40-min,77.5-Hz,15-mA sessions of active or sham tACS targeting the forehead and both mastoid areas on weekdays for 4 consecutive weeks(week 4),following a 4-week observation period(week 8).The primary outcome is the remission rate defined as the 17-item Hamilton depression rating scale(HDRS-17)score≤7 at week *** outcomes are the rates of response at weeks 4 and 8 and rate of remission at week 4 based on HDRS-17,the proportion of participants having improvement in the clinical global impression-improvement,the change in HDRS-17 score(range,0-52.with higher scores indicating more depression)over the study,and variations of brain imaging and neurocognition from baseline to week *** will be assessed by vital signs at weeks 4 and 8,and adverse events will be collected during the entire ***:The tACS applied in this trial may have treatment effects on MDD with minimal side *** registration:chinese Clinical Trial Registry,ChiCTR1800016479;http://***/***?proj=2.048.

The Back-n white neutron source(known as Back-n)is based on back-streaming neutrons from the spallation target at the china Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS).With its excellent beam properties,e.g.,a neutron flux of approximately 1.8×107 n/cm2.s at 55 m from the spallation target,energy range spanning from 0.5 eV to 2.0 MeV,and time-of-flight resolution of a few per thousand,along with the equipped physical spectrometers,Back-n is considered to be among the best facilities in the world for carrying out nuclear data *** its completion and commencement of operation in May 2.18,five types of cross-section measurements concerning neutron capture cross-sections,fission cross-sections,total cross-sections,light charged particle emissions,in-beam gamma spectra,and more than forty nuclides have been *** article presents an overview of the experimental setup and result analysis on the neutron-induced cross-section measurements and gamma spectroscopy at Back-n in the initial years.
