Material flow analysis and global warming potential assessment of an industrial insect-based bioconversion plant using housefly larvae

The significant increase in the demand for biomass waste treatment after garbage classification has led to housefly larvae treatment becoming an attractive treatment *** can provide a source of protein while treating biomass waste,which means that nutrients can be returned to the natural food ***,the performance of this technology in terms of its environmental impacts is still unclear,particularly with regards to global warming potential(GWP).This study used a life cycle assessment(lCA)approach to assess a housefly larvae treatment plant with a treatment capacity of 50 tons of biomass waste per *** lCA results showed that the 95% confidence intervals for the GWP in summer and winter were determined to be 24.46-32.81 kg CO_(2) equivalent(CO_(2)-eq)/ton biomass waste and5.37-10.08 kg CO_(2)-eq/ton biomass waste,*** greater GWP value in summer is due to the longer ventilation time and higher ventilation intensity in summer,which consumes more *** main GWP contributions are from(1)electricity needs(accounting for 78.6% of emissions in summer and 70.2%in winter)and(2)product substitution by mature housefly larvae and compost(both summer and winter accounting for 96.8% of carbon reduction).

The positive definiteness of real quadratic forms with convolution structures plays an important rolein stability analysis for time-stepping schemes for nonlocal operators. In this work, we present a novel analysistool to handle discrete convolution kernels resulting from variable-step approximations for convolution *** precisely, for a class of discrete convolution kernels relevant to variable-step l1-type time discretizations, weshow that the associated quadratic form is positive definite under some easy-to-check algebraic conditions. Ourproof is based on an elementary constructing strategy by using the properties of discrete orthogonal convolutionkernels and discrete complementary convolution kernels. To our knowledge, this is the first general result onsimple algebraic conditions for the positive definiteness of variable-step discrete convolution kernels. Using theunified theory, we obtain the stability for some simple nonuniform time-stepping schemes straightforwardly.

Intestinal microbiota imbalance may worsen the progression of ulcerative colitis(UC).lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus lS8(lR)has the potential ability to regulate microbiota through producing a novel antibacterial substance,cyclic opine:*** study aimed to investigate whether lR could ameliorate dextran sulfate sodium-induced UC in mice via modulating intestinal microbiota using fecal microbiota transplantation(FMT)*** results showed that both lR and FMT attenuated UC as evidenced by 1)alleviating disease activity index and colonic pathology;2)up-regulating MUCs and tight junction proteins;3)increasing oxidative mediators and decreasing antioxidant mediators;4)down-regulating proinflammatory cytokines and *** results were mainly attributable to the microbiota-regulating effect of lR,including increasing beneficial bacteria(like Akkermansia)and its related SCFAs,while decreasing harmful bacteria(like Proteobacteria)and its related lPS,thereby suppressing the hyperactivation of TlR4/nF-κB ***,lR can alleviate UC and is a potential dietary supplement to attenuate UC.

The stability for magnetic field to the solution of the Riemann problem for the polytropic fluid in a variable cross-section duct is discussed. By the vanishing magnetic field method, the stable solutions are determined by comparing the limit solutions with the solutions of the Riemann problem for the polytropic fluid in a duct obtained by the entropy rate admissibility criterion.

A unique feature of non-Hermitian systems is the extreme sensitivity of the eigenspectrum to boundary conditions with the emergence of the non-Hermitian skin effect (nHSE). A nHSE originates from the point-gap topology of complex eigenspectrum, where an extensive number of eigenstates are anomalously localized at the boundary driven by nonreciprocal dissipation. Two different approaches to create localization are disorder and flat-band spectrum, and their interplay can lead to the anomalous inverse Anderson localization, where the Bernoulli anti-symmetric disorder induces mobility in a full-flat band system in the presence of Aharonov−Bohm (AB) Cage. In this work, we study the localization−delocalization transitions due to the interplay of the point-gap topology, flat band and correlated disorder in the one-dimensional rhombic lattice, where both its Hermitian and non-Hermitian structures show AB cage in the presence of magnetic flux. Although it remains the coexistence of localization and delocalization for the Hermitian rhombic lattice in the presence of the random anti-symmetric disorder, it surprisingly becomes complete delocalization, accompanied by the emergence of nHSE. To further study the effects from the Bernoulli anti-symmetric disorder, we found the similar nHSE due to the interplay of the point-gap topology, correlated disorder and flat bands. Our anomalous localization−delocalization property can be experimentally tested in the classical physical platform, such as electrical circuit.

In order to provide basic design parameters for the industrial pyrolysis process,the transformation behavior of nitrogen was investigated using wheat straw as raw *** distributions of nitrogen in pyrolysis char,oil,and gas were obtained and the nitrogenous components in the products were analyzed systematically by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry(Py-GC/MS)and thermogravimetric-Fourier transform infrared spectrometry(TG-FTIR).The nitrogen distribution ranges of the pyrolysis char,oil,and gas were 37.34%–54.82%,32.87%–40.94%and 10.20%–28.83%,*** nitrogen was retained in char at lower pyrolysis temperature and the nitrogen distribution of oil was from rise to decline with increasing *** most abundant n-containing compounds in three-phase products were pyrrole-n,amines,and HCn,*** addition,the transformation mechanism of nitrogen from wheat straw to pyrolysis products was concluded.

Herein, the influence of the concentration design and comprehensive performance of the sulfate-phosphoric mixed acid system electrolyte is investigated to realize an electrolyte that maintains high energy density and stable operation at high temperatures. Static stability tests have shown that VOPO4 precipitation occurs only with vanadium(V) electrolyte. The concentration of vanadium ion of 2.0–2.2 mol·l^(–1), phosphoric acid of 0.10–0.15 mol·l^(–1), and sulfuric acid of 2.5–3.0 mol·l^(–1) are suitable for a vanadium redox flow battery in the temperature range from –20 to 50 ℃. The equations for predicting the viscosity and conductivity of electrolytes are obtained by the response surface method. The optimized electrolyte overcomes precipitation generation. It has 2.8 times higher energy density than the non-phosphate electrolyte, and a coulomb efficiency of 94.0% at 50 ℃. The sulfate-phosphoric mixed acid system electrolyte promotes the electrode reaction process, increases the current density, and reduces the resistance. This work systematically optimizes the concentrations of composition of positive and negative vanadium electrolytes with mixed sulfate-phosphoric acid. It provides a basis for the different valence states and comprehensive properties of sulfate-phosphoric mixed acid system vanadium electrolytes under extreme environments, guiding engineering applications.

Aiming at improving the survey efficiency of the Wide Field Survey Telescope, we have developed a basic scheduling strategy that takes into account the telescope characteristics, observing conditions, and weather conditions at the lenghu site. The sky area is divided into rectangular regions, referred to as “tiles,” with a size of2°. 577 × 2°. 634 slightly smaller than the focal area of the mosaic CCDs. These tiles are continuously filled in annulars parallel to the equator. The brightness of the sky background, which varies with the moon phase and distance from the moon, plays a significant role in determining the accessible survey fields. Approximately 50connected tiles are grouped into one block for observation. To optimize the survey schedule, we perform simulations by taking into account the length of exposures, data readout, telescope slewing, and all relevant observing conditions. We utilize the Greedy Algorithm for scheduling optimization. Additionally, we propose a dedicated dithering pattern to cover the gaps between CCDs and the four corners of the mosaic CCD array, which are located outside of the 3° field of view. This dithering pattern helps to achieve relatively uniform exposure maps for the final survey outputs.
