The acidity of atmospheric aerosols influences fundamental physicochemical processes that affect climate and human *** recently developed a novel and facilewater-probebased method for directly measuring of the pH for micrometer-size droplets,providing a promising technique to better understand aerosol acidity in the *** complex chemical composition of fine particles in the ambient air,however,poses certain challenges to using a water-probe for pH measurement,including interference from interactions between compositions and the influence of similar compositions on water *** explore the universality of our method,it was employed to measure the pH of ammonium,nitrate,carbonate,sulfate,and chloride *** pH of particles covering a broad range(0–14)were accurately determined,thereby demonstrating that our method can be generally applied,even to alkaline ***,a standard spectral library was developed by integrating the standard spectra of common hydrated ions extracted through the *** library can be employed to identify particle composition and overcome the spectral overlap problem resulting from similar *** the spectral library,all ions were identified and their concentrations were determined,in turn allowing successful pH measurement of multicomponent(ammonium-sulfate-nitrate-chloride)*** into the synergistic effect of Cl^(–),NO_(3)^(–),and NH_(4)^(+)depletion obtained with our approach revealed the interplay between pH and volatile *** the ubiquity of component partitioning and pH variation in particles,the water probemay provide a new perspective on the underlying mechanisms of aerosol aging and aerosol–cloud interaction.

Traceability is the fundamental premise of all metrological activities. The establishment of a traceability chain characterized by a shortened structure, while simultaneously enabling on-site traceability, represents a key trend in the advancement of metrology. This study explores the periodic accuracy and overall uniformity of self-traceable gratings, employing multilayer film gratings with a nominal period of 25.00 nm as the medium. We present a comparative analysis of measurement capabilities in a self-traceable grating calibration system characterized by a ‘top-down’ calibration approach and a Si lattice constant calibration system characterized by a ‘bottom-up’ calibration approach. The results indicate that the values obtained for the multilayer film grating periods, calibrated using the self-traceable grating system, are 24.40 nm with a standard deviation of 0.11 nm. By comparing with the values derived from the Si lattice constant, which yield 24.34 nm with a standard deviation of 0.14 nm, the validity and feasibility of the self-traceable calibration system are confirmed. This system extends and complements existing metrological frameworks, offering a precise pathway for traceability in precision engineering and nanotechnology research.

Global warming has been reported to enhance thermal stratification and decrease the mixlayer depth(MLD)in waters due to higher surface water temperatures,especially in *** studies were conducted for individual cases or specific *** present,there is a lack of global assessments on the influence of climate warming in different seasons on thermal *** ECMWF Reanalysis v5(ERA5)dataset was used to estimate the variability of water body mixing and its drivers in different seasons and *** indicate that global warming could enhance thermal stratification and decrease the MLD globally in *** speed was the primary driver of MLD changes,followed by ***,ice melt due to global warming enhanced the mixing in icecovered waters in the Northern Hemisphere,and early ice melt led to early *** depth was the primary driver of MLD changes in the Northern Hemisphere due to delayed ice formation and earlier melting,while wind speed was the primary driver in other regions or during ice-free *** enhanced mixing due to earlier ice melt out in late winter and early spring could promote water circulation and nutrient turnover,and replenish dissolved oxygen in deep water,thereby promoting the maximum biomass of cyanobacteria and advance harmful algal blooms.

Dear Editor,Liver transplantation(LT)is the only curative therapy for patients with endstage liver disease(He et al.,2023;Ling et al.,2022).Post-transplant hypertriglyceridemia(PTHT),which has an incidence of up to 32.8%in 6 months after LT,is one of the major post-transplant complications(Toshima et al.,2020).With the prolongation of the recipient’s survival time,the incidence of PTHT is increasing,becoming an important factor that affects the recipient’s quality of life and survival *** with various metabolic complications,including PTHT,have a 1.78 times higher risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease(ASCVD)development and death than recipients without these complications(Jiménez Pérez et al.,2016).Studies have shown that PTHT,accompanied by other posttransplant metabolic complications and immunosuppressants,are important risk factors for post-transplant ASCVD and mediate 19%–42% of nongraft-related deaths(Davis and Shadab Siddiqui,2017;Jiménez-Pérez et al.,2016).However,early prediction of PTHT remains a major challenge.

The KCNQ family of genes(KCNQ1–KCNQ5),encoding voltage-gated K+(Kv)channels,have been demonstrated to play potential pathophysiological roles in ***,the associations between genetic variants located in KCNQ family genes and gastric cancer survival remain *** this study,a large-scale cohort comprising 1135 Chinese gastric cancer patients was enrolled to identify genetic variants in KCNQ family genes associated with overall survival(OS).Based on the survival evaluation of all five KCNQ family genes,KCNQ1 was selected for subsequent genetic *** both Cox regression model and stepwise Cox regression model used to evaluate survival-related genetic variants,we found that KCNQ1 rs10832417G>T was associated with an increased OS in gastric cancer patients(adjusted hazards ratio[HR]=0.84,95%confidence interval[CI]:0.72–0.98,P=0.023).Subsequently,a nomogram was constructed to enhance the prognostic capacity and clinical translation of rs10832417 *** rs10832417 T allele was predicted to increase the minimum free energy of the secondary ***,we observed that gastric cancer patients with downregulated KCNQ1expression had a poorer survival across multiple public *** findings of the present study indicate that KCNQ1 rs10832417 may serve as an independent prognostic predictor of gastric cancer,providing novel insights into the progression and survival of the disease.

Anaerobic ammonia oxidation(Anammox)is an economical and sustainablewastewater nitrogen removal technology,and its application in the mainstream process is the inevitable trend of the development of ***,how to effectively enriching Anammox bacteria from the activated sludge remains challenging and restricts its extensive *** this study,the rapid and efficient enrichment of Anammox bacteriawas achieved by raising the reflux ratio and nitrogen loading rate(NLR)using conventional activated sludge as the *** the screening phase(days 1–90),the reflux ratio was increased to discharge partial floc sludge,resulting in the relative abundance of Candidatus Brocadiaceae increased from0.04%to 22.54%,which effectively reduced thematrix and spatial competition between other microorganisms and Anammox *** day 90,the stoichiometric ratio of the Anammox process closely approached the theoretical value of 1:1.32:0.26,indicating that the Anammox reaction was the primary nitrogen removal process in the *** the enrichment phase(days 91–238),the NLR increased from 0.43 to 1.20 kgN/(m^(3)·d)and removal efficiency was 71.89%,resulting in the relative abundance of Candidatus Brocadiaceae increased to 61.27%on day *** reactor operated steadily from days 444 to 498,maintaining the nitrogen removal rate(NRR)of 3.00 kgN/(m^(3)·d)and achieving successful sludge granulation with the particle size of 392.4μ*** short,this study provided a simple and efficient approach for enriching Anammox bacteria from the activated sludge,supporting to start an Anammox process efficiently.

This paper presents, for the first time, an effective numerical approach based on the isogeometric analysis(IGA) and the six-variable quasi-three dimensional(3D)higher-order shear deformation theory(HSDT) to study the free vibration characteristics of functionally-graded(FG) graphene origami(GOri)-enabled auxetic metamaterial(GOEAM) plates submerged in a fluid medium. The plate theory incorporates the thickness stretching and the effects of transverse shear deformation without using any shear correction factors. The velocity potential function and Bernoulli's equation are used to derive the hydrodynamic pressure acting on the plate surface. Both horizontally and vertically immersed plate configurations are considered here in the form of inertia *** plates are composed of multilayer GOEAMs, with the GOri content varying through the plate's thickness in a layer-wise manner. This design results in graded auxetic *** material properties are evaluated by mixing rules and a genetic programming(GP)-assisted micromechanical model. The governing equations of motion for the FG-GOEAM plates immersed in a fluid medium are derived by Hamilton's principle. After validating the convergence and accuracy of the present model, a comprehensive parametric study is carried out to examine the effects of the GOri content, GOri distribution pattern, GOri folding degree, fluid level, immersed depth, and geometric parameter on the natural frequencies of the FG-GOEAM plates. The results show that the natural frequencies for the four GOri distribution patterns increase with the increase in the layer number when the lay number is fewer than 10, and then stabilize after the layer number reaches ***, in general, the natural frequency of the FG-GOEAM plate in a vacuum or fluid increases when the GOri content increases, while decreases when the GOri folding degree increases.
