BACKGROUND ： Parkinson disease is neurodegenerative disorders, characterized by a progressive and selective degeneration of nigrostdatal dopaminergic pathway. Its main clinical symptoms include bradykinesia, dgidity, rest tremor and disturbances in balance. Levodopa （L-DOPA） is the ＂gold standard＂ for the symptomatic treatment of Parkinson disease, but L-DOPA is toxic to dopaminergic neurons and the chronic administration of L-DOPA often causes the side effects of motor such as ＂on-off ＂, etc., and its mechanism still has not been completely clarified. OBJECTIVE ： To observe the changes of the content of glutathione （GSH）, activities of glutathione peroxidase （GSH-Px） and superoxide dismutase （SOD） and content of malondialdehyde （MDA） in gila-containing mesencephalic culture fluid after L-DOPA of different concentrations were added. DESIGN： A comparative observation. SETTINGS ： Department of Neurology, Affiliated Hospital of Taishan Medical University; Department of Neurology, Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. MATERIALS ： The experiment was carried out in the Basic Research Institute, Taishan Medical University from December 2003 to September 2004. Ten postnatal newborn SD rats （within 2 days） were selected, either male or female. Fetal bovine serum （DMEM/F12） was from Gibco Company; L-DOPA and glial fibrillary acidic protein （GFAP） from Sigma Company. Kits for determination of GSH, GSH-Px, SOD and MDA were purchased from Nanjing Jiancheng Bioengineering Research Institute. METHODS ： Gila-containing mesencephalic culture fluid were placed in 24-well culture plate, and L-DOPA of 50, 100 and 500 μmot/L was added to each group, the blank control group was also set. Rapid Sintering of Alumina in Low Pressure RF Plasma

Three kinds of high-purity A12O3 powders, whose average paticle size is 0. l, 0.3 and 3.0 mp respectively, were used as thestarting power, and their compacts were fired in the radio-frequency plasma generated at a pressure of 80 Pa using N, as the working *** results show that the 0. 1 and 0.3 mp powder compacts can be sintered to nearly the theoretical density within 60 s and thissintering is almost finished in the heating period. It is concluded that the mechanism of liquid sintering, the electric charge effect of Al2O3powder, and the effect of tempetrature gradient in the compacts can affect simultaneously on the rapid densification of the compacts inthe plasma sintering.

The utilization of non-noble metal catalysts with robust and highly efficient electrocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)are extremely important for the large-scale implementation of renewable energy *** of bifunctional electrocatalysts on both anode and cathode electrodes remains a significant ***,we report on a novel and facile strategy to construct the ordered and aligned MoS_(2)nanosheet-encapsulated metal–organic frameworks(MOFs)derived hollow CoS polyhedron,in-situ grown on a nickel foam(NF).The starfish-like MoS_(2)/CoS/NF heterojunctions were formed due to the ordered growth of the material caused by NF *** optimized 2-MoS_(2)/CoS/NF heterojunction exhibits robust bifunctional electrocatalytic activity with a low overpotential of 67 and 207 m V toward the HER and OER at 10 mA cm^(-2),and the long-term stability,which exceeds most of the reported bifunctional *** high electrocatalytic performance arises due to the synergistic effect between the MoS_(2)and CoS phases across the interface,the abundant active sites,as well as the hierarchical pore framework,which collectively enhance the mass and electron transfer during the *** work provides a promising approach to fabricating bifunctional catalysts with custom-designed heterojunctions and remarkable performance for applications in electrochemical energy devices and related areas.

Synthesis and Luminescence Improvement of CaAlSiN_(3) Phosphors Doped with Eu^(2+) and Mn^(2+) for White LEDs

Eu^(2+) and Mn^(2+) co-activated CaAlSiN_(3) red phosphors were produced using the solid-state reaction tech⁃nique in a N2 *** spectra,emission spectra,and diffuse reflection spectra were used to study the luminescence characteristics,energy gap,and thermal stability in ***_(3)∶Eu^(2+) exhibits an extended emission band when stimulated with 450 nm blue light,which is caused by the 4f65d to 4f7 transition of Eu^(2+).Similar⁃ly,CaAlSiN_(3)∶Mn^(2+) displays a wide emission band centered at 628 nm,which results from Mn^(2+)’s transition from 4T1(4G) to 6A1(6S).When the ions of Mn^(2+)were combined into CaAlSiN_(3)∶Eu^(2+),the photoluminescence intensity of Eu^(2+ )was greatly boosted because there was energy transfer and co-emission between Mn^(2+) and Eu^(2+).Beyond that,CaAlSiN_(3)∶Eu^(2+),Mn^(2+) emerges with splendid thermostability and high quantum efficiency,the quenching temperature surpasses 300℃,and the internal quantum efficiency is determined to be around 84.9%.The white LED was pack⁃aged with a combination of CaAlSiN_(3)∶Eu^(2+),Mn^(2+),LuAG∶Ce3+ and a blue *** a warm white-light corresponding color temperature(3009 K) with CIE coordinates(0.4223,0.3748),the color rendering index Ra has reached ***_(3)∶Eu^(2+),Mn^(2+) would have great application potential as a red-emitting phosphor for white LEDs.

Degradation of 4-aminophenol by hydrogen peroxide oxidation using enzyme from Serratia marcescens as catalyst

This paper reports on the degradation of 4-aminophenol using hydrogen peroxide as oxidizer and the enzyme from Serratia marcescens AB 90027 as *** effecting factors during degradation and the degrading mechanism were ***,the location of the enzyme in the cell,which could catalyze the degradation of 4-aminophenol,was *** results showed that to degrade 50 mL of 4-aminophenol whose concentration was 500 mg/L,the optimal conditions were:volume of H_(2)O_(2)=3 mL,temperature=40-60°C and pH=*** the degra-dation process,4-aminophenol was first converted to benzo-quinone and NH3,then organic acids including maleic acid,fumaleic acid,and oxalic acid were formed,and then finally CO_(2) and H2O were generated as final *** enzyme that could catalyze the degradation of 4-aminophenol was mainly extracellular enzyme.

Salt/current-triggered stabilization of β-cyclodextrins encapsulated host-guest low-molecular-weight gels

Host-guest supramolecular gels were developed via the self-assembly of inclusion complexes(ICs) ofβ-cyclodextrins/phenylboronic acid gelator(PBA).Salts and current were involved in the self-assembly to stabilize the host-guest *** stability of the gels was greatly improved after salts were *** stable time of gels was extended from 2.5 h to 120 h with the addition of NH_4 NO_3 at the concentration of 2.5×10^(-2) g/*** morphology of the gel was affected by the concentrations of NH_4NO_*** images revealed that the gels were three-dimensional nanofibrous networks,the sizes of fibers decreased with decreasing NH_4NO_3 concentrations,which affected the stability of gels,further proved by the rheological properties of *** stable gels were obtained with current stimulation,the stable time of the gel was increased from 2.5 h to 55 h with current by adding NaBF_*** current also exhibited significant influence on the aggregation as the voltage varied(0-500 mV) with a constant concentration of *** result showed the self-assembly process of host-guest gel could be well controlled via the addition of salts and current to desired morphology and stability.

Preparation of hydrophobic transparent paper via using polydimethylsiloxane as transparent agent

Transparent paper with good hydrophobicity and flexibility was expected to act as an alternative substrate in fabrication of flexible ***,conventional paper made of cellulose fibers was opaque and hydrophilic without undergoing special ***,cellulose fiber paper was treated by impregnating with hydrolyzed tetraethyl orthosilicate(TEOS)followed by coating with hydrophobic polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)to prepare hydrophobic transparent *** results showed that silica nanoparticles produced by the TEOS hydrolysis improved the paper transparency to some extent,increased the paper thermal stability,but still remained the hydrophilicity of *** the paper was further coated with the PDMS and the PDMS was consolidated,the paper became clearly transparent and *** processed paper had a transmittance of more than 90%at 550 *** water contact angle of the paper reached about 110°.This work provided a new approach for the fabrication of hydrophobic transparent paper with conventional cellulose fiber paper.
