Light-sheet fluorescence microscopy(LSFM)has been widely used to image the three-dimensional(3D)structures and functions of various millimeter-size bio-specimen such as zebrafish.However,the sample adsorption and scattering cause shading of the light-sheet illumination,preventing the even 3D image of thick samples.Herein,we report a continuous-rotational light-sheet microscope(CR-LSM)that enables simultaneous 3D bright-field and fluorescence imaging.With a high-accuracy rotational stage,CR-LSM records the outline projections and the fluorescent images of the sample at multiple rotation angles.Then,3D morphology and fluorescent structure were reconstructed with a developed algorithm.Using CR-LSM,zebrafish’s whole-fish contour and blood vessel structures were obtained simultaneously.

The destruction of a regular black hole event horizon might provide us the possibility to access regions inside black hole event horizon.This paper investigates the possibility of overcharging a charged Taub-NUT regular black hole via the scattering of a charged field and the absorption of a charged particle.For the charged scalar field scattering,both the near-extremal and extremal charged Taub-NUT regular black holes cannot be overcharged.For the test charged particle absorption,the result shows that the event horizon of the extremal charged Taub-NUT regular black hole still exists while the event horizon of the near-extremal one can be destroyed.However,if the charge and energy cross the event horizon in a continuous path,the near-extremal charged Taub-NUT regular black hole might not be overcharged.

Dear Editor,Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2(SARS-CoV-2)has caused the COVID-19 pandemic,with more than 528 million infections and 6.2 million deaths.To fight against this rapidly spreading pandemic,prophylactic vaccines have been developed using different techniques,such as inactivated virus,messenger RNAs,recombinant proteins,and viral-vectored vaccines.However,rapidly spreading variants of SARS-CoV-2,such as alpha,beta,delta,and omicron variants,have been emerging.

This paper focuses on control design and synthesize for a class of magnetic levitation systems,which have a decentralized control for each suspension point.Due to the existence of mechanical coupling among four suspension points,large modeling uncertainties,unpredictable disturbances during the operation,and measurement noises,becomes challenging.To estimate and compensate for the effects of lumped uncertainties,this study employs the extended state observer(ESO)in conjunction with active disturbance rejection control(ADRC).Specifically,a novel ESO is proposed that utilizes output signals and their derivatives to estimate the lumped uncertainties more accurately,which simplifies the convergence proof conditions and has well engineering performance.This article is written in honor of B.M.Chen on the occasion of his 60th birthday.Specifically,this paper is inspired by his pioneering work on composite nonlinear feedback,which combines linear feedback and nonlinear compensator to enhance system performance Chen et al.(IEEE Trans Autom Control,40:427-439,2003).

For the treatment of an intertrochanteric fracture combined with femoral head necrosis in middle-age patients,it has been controversial whether to perform fracture reduction and fixation first then total hip replacement,or direct total hip replacement.We present a rare case of 53-year-old male patient suffered from bilateral intertrochanteric fracture caused by a road traffic injury.The patient had a history of femoral head necrosis for eight years,and the Harris score was 30.We performed total hip replacement with prolonged biologic shank prostheses for primary repair.One year after the surgery,nearly full range of motion was achieved without instability(active flexion angle of 110°,extension angle of 20°,adduction angle of 40°,abduction angle of 40°,internal rotation angle of 25°,and external rotation angle of 40°).The Harris score was 85.For the middle-aged patient with unstable intertrochanteric fractures and osteonecrosis of the femoral head,we can choose primary repair for concurrent bilateral intertrochanteric fracture and femoral head necrosis with prolonged shank biologic total hip replacement.

Cytotoxic and antibacterial polyketide-indole hybrids synthesized from indole-3-carbinol by Daldinia eschscholzii

Two skeletally undescribed polyketide-indole hybrids(PIHs), named indolchromins A and B,were generated from indole-3-carbinol(I3 C) in the fungal culture(Daldinia eschscholzii). The indolchromin structures were elucidated mainly by their 1 D and 2 D NMR spectra with the former confirmed by the single-crystal X-ray crystallographic analysis. Each indolchromin alkaloid was chirally separated into four isomers, whose absolute configurations were assigned by comparing the recorded circular dichroism(CD) spectra with the electronic CD(ECD) curves computed for all optional stereoisomers. Furthermore, the indolchromin construction pathways in fungal culture were clarified through enzyme inhibition, precursor feeding experiment, and energy calculation. The cascade reactions,including decarboxylative Claisen condensation catalyzed by 8-amino-7-oxononanoate synthase(AONS),C(sp3)-H activation, double bond migration, and Michael addition, all undergone compatibly during the fungal cultivation. In an MIC range of 1.3–8.6 μmol/L,(2 S,4 R)-and(2 R,4 S)-indolchromin A and(2 R,4 S)-indolchromin B are inhibitory against Clostridium perfringens, Clostridium difficile, Veillonella sp.,Bacteroides fragilis, and Streptococcus pyogenes.(2 R,4 S)-Indolchromin A and(2 S,4 S)-indolchromin B were cytotoxic against the human breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231 with IC50 values of 27.9 and131.2 nmol/L, respectively, with the former additionally active against another human breast cancer cell line MCF-7(IC_(50)94.4 nmol/L).

In this paper, we give an up-to-date survey on physically-based fluid animation research. As one of the most popular approaches to simulate realistic fluid effects, physically-based fluid animation has spurred a large number of new results in recent years. We classify and discuss the existing methods within three categories： Lagrangian method, Eulerian method and Lattice-Boltzmann method. We then introduce techniques for seven different kinds of special fluid effects. Finally we review the latest hot research areas and point out some future research trends, including surface tracking, fluid control, hybrid method, model reduction, etc.

Drought has severely affected the yield and quality of commercial crops.The BRI1 family plays an important role in plant response to drought stress,and BRL3 gene plays an important role in the study of drought in Arabidopsis thaliana.In this study,NtBRL3 was constructed as a vector and genetically transformed to obtain‘N.Tobacco K326’overexpression of NtBRL3.The enzyme activities of transgenic tobacco and wild-type tobacco were measured and transcriptome and metabolome analyses were performed.The results showed that the antioxidant enzymes of transgenic tobacco were more active under drought conditions,and 85 significantly differentially metabolites and 106 significantly differentially expressed genes were identified in the metabolome and transcriptome analyses,respectively.Transgenic tobacco NtBRL3ox demonstrated an excessive accumulation of droughtrelated metabolites,sugars such as sucrose and maltotetraose,and amino acids such as proline,compared with WT.We discovered drought-related differential genes in the root transcriptome,among which LOX6,RD22,WSD1,CCD8,and UGT were key genes which play an important role in plant response to drought stress.Our results demonstrate that NtBRL3 overexpression in K326 enhances drought resistance in transgenic tobacco.
